Price Order No. 556 (Amending Price Order No. 459) (Knitted Wear manufactured by the Manawatu Knitting Mills, Ltd.)
Pursuant to the powers conferred on it by the Control of Prices Emergency Regulations 1939,* the Price Tribunal, acting with the authority of the Minister of Industries and Commerce, doth hereby make the following amending Price Order:—

This Order may be cited as Price Order No. 556, and shall be read together with and deemed part of Price Order No. 459† (hereinafter referred to as the principal Order).

This Order shall come into force on the 20th day of June, 1946.

The Schedule to the principal Order is hereby amended by omitting the letters “V.N., S.S.” where they first appear opposite the words “Natural Worsted Shirts” under the heading “Men’s Underwear,” and substituting the letters “V.N., N.S.”

This Order may be cited as Price Order No. 557, and shall be read together with and deemed part of Price Order No. 481† (hereinafter referred to as the principal Order).

This Order shall come into force on the 20th day of June, 1946.

The Schedule to the principal Order is hereby amended by omitting the price figure “1s. 6d.” where it appears opposite the word “Sleeveless” under the heading “Butchers’ Singlets,” and substituting the price figure “9d.”

This Order may be cited as Price Order No. 558, and shall be read together with and deemed part of Price Order No. 495† (hereinafter referred to as the principal Order).

The principal Order is hereby amended by omitting the figure “3” where it appears in paragraph (a) of clause 3, and substituting the figure “4.”

Price Order No. 559 (Milk—Opotiki)
Pursuant to the powers conferred on it by the Control of Prices Emergency Regulations 1939,* the Price Tribunal, acting with the authority of the Minister of Industries and Commerce, doth hereby make the following Price Order:—
PRELIMINARY

This Order may be cited as Price Order No. 559, and shall come into force on the 20th day of June, 1946.

In this Order—
“Opotiki Milk District” means the district within a radius of five miles from the post-office at Opotiki:
“Consumer” means a person who buys milk for purposes other than resale.
APPLICATION OF THIS ORDER
- This Order applies with respect to all milk wherever produced that is sold during the months of June, July, and August in any year to a consumer within the Opotiki Milk District.
FIXING PRICE OF MILK TO WHICH THIS ORDER APPLIES
- The maximum price that may be charged or received for any milk to which this Order applies shall be computed at the rate of 7d. per quart.

Price Order No. 560 (Canned Herrings)
Pursuant to the powers conferred on it by the Control of Prices Emergency Regulations 1939,* the Price Tribunal, acting with the authority of the Minister of Industries and Commerce, doth hereby make the following Price Order:—

This Order may be cited as Price Order No. 560, and shall come into force on the 24th day of June, 1946.

(1) Price Order No. 549† is hereby revoked.
(2) The revocation of the said Order shall not affect the liability of any person for any offence in relation thereto committed before the coming into force of this Order.
APPLICATION OF THIS ORDER
- This Order applies with respect to all canned herrings in tomato sauce and canned fresh herrings imported into New Zealand.
FIXING MAXIMUM PRICES OF CANNED HERRINGS TO WHICH THIS ORDER APPLIES
Wholesalers’ Prices
(4) The maximum price (exclusive of sales tax) that may be charged or received by any wholesaler for any canned herrings to which this Order applies shall be determined as follows:—
(a) When sold by a wholesaler whose premises are situate in any of the cities of Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, or Dunedin, the maximum price shall be—
s. d.
For 14 oz. containers .. 17 9 per dozen.
For 7 oz. containers .. 12 1 per dozen.
(b) When sold by a wholesaler whose premises are situate elsewhere, the maximum price shall be—
s. d.
For 14 oz. containers .. 18 3 per dozen.
For 7 oz. containers .. 12 5 per dozen.
Retailers’ Prices
- The maximum price that may be charged or received by any retailer for any canned herrings to which this Order applies shall be determined as follows:—
(a) When sold by a retailer whose premises are situate in any area within which any wholesaler carrying on business in any of the cities of Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, or Dunedin normally undertakes the free delivery of goods to retailers, the maximum price shall be—
s. d.
For 14 oz. containers .. .. 2 2 each.
For 7 oz. containers .. .. 1 6 each.
(b) When sold by a retailer whose premises are situate elsewhere, the maximum price shall be—
s. d.
For 14 oz. containers .. .. 2 3 each.
For 7 oz. containers .. .. 1 6½ each.
SPECIAL PRICES WHERE EXTRAORDINARY CHARGES INCURRED
- Notwithstanding anything in the foregoing provisions of this Order, and subject to such conditions, if any, as it thinks fit, the Tribunal, on application by any wholesaler or retailer may authorize special maximum wholesale or retail prices in respect of any canned herrings to which this Order applies where for any reason extraordinary charges (freight or otherwise) are incurred by the wholesaler or retailer. Any authority given by the Tribunal under this clause may apply with respect to a specified lot or consignment of canned herrings, or may relate generally to all canned herrings to which this Order applies sold by the wholesaler or retailer while the approval remains in force.
