Altering Boundaries of Clutha and Southland Counties and including Areas in Maclennan Riding, Clutha County, and Toetoes Riding, Southland County

A PROCLAMATION
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on me by section fourteen of the Counties Act, 1920, and of all other powers and authorities enabling me in that behalf, I, Cyril Louis Norton Newall, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare that the area described in the First Schedule hereto, being now part of the Southland County, shall be added to and form part of the Clutha County; that the area described in the Second Schedule hereto, being now part of the Clutha County, shall be added to and form part of the Southland County; that the boundaries of the Clutha and Southland Counties as so altered shall be those set forth under the respective headings in the Third Schedule hereto; that the area added as aforesaid to the Clutha County shall be included in the Maclennan Riding of the said county; that the boundaries of the said Maclennan Riding as so altered shall be those set forth in the Fourth Schedule hereto; that the area added as aforesaid to the Southland County shall be included in the Toetoes Riding of the said county; that the boundaries of the Toetoes Riding as so altered shall be those set forth in the Fifth Schedule hereto; and I also proclaim and declare that this Proclamation shall take effect as on and from the first day of April, one thousand, nine hundred and forty-six.
FIRST SCHEDULE
AREA EXCLUDED FROM SOUTHLAND COUNTY AND INCLUDED IN CLUTHA COUNTY
ALL that area containing 6,800 acres, more or less, being part of Blocks V, XII, XIII, and XIV, Tautuku Survey District : bounded towards the north by other part of Block V ; towards the north-east generally by the Chaslands River to the ocean; towards the east and south generally by the ocean to Longbeach Creek ; towards the south-west by the centre of Longbeach Creek and part of Chaselands Highway; and towards the west by Section 13, Block XV, and Sections 4 and 2, Block XIV, Waikawa Survey District.
SECOND SCHEDULE
AREA EXCLUDED FROM CLUTHA COUNTY AND INCLUDED IN SOUTHLAND COUNTY
ALL that area containing 788 acres, more or less, being parts of Sections 1, 2, 3, and 4, Block XIV, Waikawa Survey District, commencing at a point due north of Black Horn on the southern boundary of Rimu Survey District; thence bounded towards the north by Block XI, Rimu Survey District, towards the east by Block V, Tautuku Survey District, to a point in line due east of Black Horn; thence towards the south by that line to Black Horn; thence towards the west by a straight line to the starting-point.
THIRD SCHEDULE
CLUTHA COUNTY
BOUNDED towards the north by a right line running due east from a point in the middle of Back Creek in Block V, Rankleburn Survey District, due west from Trig. Station D, said survey district, to the middle of the Clutha River; thence towards the east and north-east by a line along the middle of the said Clutha River and the Koau Branch thereof to the ocean; thence towards the south-east generally by the ocean to the middle of the Longbeach Creek, north-westerly by the centre of that creek to Chaslands Highway; thence westerly by that highway to the eastern boundary of Block XV, Waikawa Survey District; thence northerly by that boundary and the eastern boundary of Block XIV, Waikawa Survey District; thence westerly by the northern boundary of said Block XIV; thence northerly by the eastern boundary of Section 5, Block XIV, Mokoreta Survey District, and its production to the northern side of the road forming the northern boundary of the said Section No. 5, by the said side of that road and the northern side of the road forming the north-eastern boundaries of Sections Nos. 3, and 2, Block XIV aforesaid, to a point due south of Trig. Station EE, by a right line to the said Trig. Station EE, by the watershed over Bleak Hill to Catlin's Cone, Rimu Survey District; thence north-easterly by a straight line from Trig. D to Peg XLII, D.P. 3412, Southland Registry, on the south-western boundary-line of Run No. 258; thence again towards the south-west by the last-mentioned boundary to the Wyndham or Mokoreta River, by that river to a point in line with the south-western boundary-line of Section No. 5, Block VII, Slopedown Survey District, by a right line to and by the last-mentioned boundary-line and its production to the south-east boundary of Run No. 251 in the said Block VII; thence again towards the west generally by the last-mentioned run, by Section No. 2, Block VI, Slopedown Survey District; and the production of its eastern boundary-line to the centre of the road forming its northern boundary, by a line along the centre of the last-mentioned road and the road forming the eastern boundaries of Sections Nos. 12, 13, 7, 6, 4, and l of Block II, Slopedown Survey District, across the main South Road, by the centre of the road forming the eastern boundaries of Sections Nos. 23 and 24, Block XII, Waipahi Survey District, to a line bearing N.E. 66Β° 47', by that line for a distance of 50Β·2 links to the angle on the eastern side of the last-mentioned road where it strikes the western boundary-line of Section No. 28, Block V, Waipahi Survey District, by that boundary-line and its production to the centre of the Waipahi River, by the centre of the Waipahi River to a point due east from the north side of a road intersecting Section No. 4, Block XI, Waipahi Survey District, by a right line to and by the northern side of that road to the eastern boundary-line of the Waikaka Survey District, by that district to the eastern boundary-line of the Chatton Survey District, by that boundary-line and its production to the middle of the Leithen River; thence again towards the north-east by a line along the middle of that river and the middle of the Pomahaka River to its confluence with the Waipahi River; and thence towards the north-west by the continuation of the line along the middle of the Pomahaka River and Back Creek to the place of commencement; excepting that portion of the Borough of Balclutha which comes within the above-described area, and the Clinton Town District.
SOUTH Lid COUNTY
Commencing at Hummock Peak; thence in a south-easterly direction to Jane Peak; thence in an easterly direction by a right line to Eyre Peak; thence in a southerly direction generally by a right line to the source of the Mataura River; thence in a south-easterly and south-westerly direction generally by the centre of the Mataura River to a point in line with the south-eastern boundary of Section 5, Block III, Nokomai Survey District; thence to and by the south-eastern boundary of the said Section 5, and Sections 6, 7, and 8, all in Block III, Nokomai Survey District, to Trig A; thence in a north-easterly direction by right lines to Trigs. E and C, Block I, Trigs. GS and D, Block VII, Nokomai Survey District; thence in a north-easterly direction generally by the summit of the Slate Range and the Hector Mountains to Lorn Peak; thence in a south-easterly direction by a right line to Rocky Mountain; thence due east by a right line to the summit of the Umbrella Mountains; thence in a south-westerly direction generally by the summit of the Umbrella Mountains to Black Umbrella; thence in a southerly direction by a right line to the source of the Leithen
