Revoking the Declaration of Main Highways and declaring Public Highways to be Main Highways

At the Government House at Wellington, this 7th day of November, 1945
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in him by section three of the Main Highways Act, 1922, and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby declare that on and after the first day of April, one thousand nine hundred and forty-five, the main highways described in the First Schedule hereto shall cease to be main highways, and doth further declare that the roads described in the Second Schedule hereto shall be main highways within the meaning and for the purposes of the Main Highways Act, 1922.
FIRST SCHEDULE
HIGHWAY DISTRICT No. 7
Pembroke Road Highway.—All that main highway in the Stratford Borough and County, declared as the Pembroke Road Main Highway, described in Order in Council dated 2nd April, 1928, and published in the Gazette on 5th April, 1928.
Egmont Road – Radius Line.—All that main highway in the Counties of Taranaki and Inglewood, declared as the Egmont Road – Radius Line Main Highway, described in Order in Council dated 2nd October, 1940, and published in the Gazette on 10th October, 1940.
Mania – Mount Egmont Radius Line.—All that main highway in the Mania Town District and the Counties of Waimate West, Eltham, and Stratford, declared as the Mania – Mount Egmont Radius Line Main Highway, described in Order in Council dated 2nd October, 1940, and published in the Gazette on 10th October, 1940.
SECOND SCHEDULE
HIGHWAY DISTRICT No. 7
Stratford – Mount Egmont.—All that street or portion of street in the Borough of Stratford, commencing at the junction of Mountain Road and Pembroke Road, and proceeding thence generally in a westerly direction via the said Pembroke Road, and terminating at the western boundary of the Borough of Stratford, being a distance of 40 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan numbered P.W.D. 71189, deposited in the office of the Main Highways Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.
All that road or portion of road in the Stratford County, commencing at the western boundary of the Borough of Stratford, and proceeding thence generally in a westerly direction via Pembroke Road and Stratford Track, and terminating in Egmont National Park on what is known as “The Plateau” in Block XIV, Egmont Survey District, being a distance of 11 miles 78 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plans P.W.D. 71512 and 121701, deposited in the office of the Main Highways Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.
Devon Road – North Egmont.—All that road or portion of road in the Counties of Taranaki and Inglewood, commencing at its junction with the Te Kuiti – New Plymouth Main Highway near New Plymouth, opposite the north-western corner of Section 163, Block VI, Paritutu Survey District, and proceeding thence generally in a southerly direction via Egmont Village and terminating at the boundary of the Egmont National Park at the point known as the Radius Line, being a distance of 13 miles 69 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 107460, deposited in the office of the Main Highways Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured brown.
Also all that road or portion of road in the Inglewood County, commencing on what is known as the Radius Line opposite the southern corner of Section 33, Block VII, Egmont Survey District, and proceeding thence generally in a south-westerly direction through Blocks VII, XI, and X, in the Egmont National Park, and terminating near the North Egmont Hostel, being a distance of 4 miles 10 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 121702, deposited in the office of the Main Highways Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.
Mania – Dawson Falls.—All that street or portion of street in the Mania Town District, commencing at the junction of Tauhuri Street with South Road, and proceeding thence generally in a northerly direction via Tauhuri Street and terminating at the northern boundary of the said town district, being a distance of 34 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 107313, deposited in the office of the Main Highways Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.
Also all that road or portion of road in the Counties of Waimate West, Eltham, and Stratford, commencing at the Mania Town District northern boundary, and proceeding thence generally in a northerly direction via Kapuni and Kaponga, and terminating at the boundary of the Egmont National Park at a point known as the Radius Line, being a distance of 13 miles 29 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 107460, deposited in the office of the Main Highways Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured purple.
Also all that road or portion of road in the Stratford County, commencing at a point on what is known as the Radius Line, opposite the western corner of Section I, Block III, Kaupokonui Survey District, and proceeding thence generally in a north-westerly direction and terminating at the Dawson’s Falls Hostel in Block II, Kaupokonui Survey District, being a distance of 3 miles 40 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 121703, deposited in the office of the Main Highways Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in him by section three of the Main Highways Act, 1922, and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby declare that, on and after the date of publication of this Order in Council in the Gazette, the main highways and portion of main highway described in the First Schedule hereto shall cease to be main highways, and that the roads described in the Second Schedule hereto shall be main highways within the meaning and for the purposes of the Main Highways Act, 1922; and doth further declare that, as from the first day of April, one thousand nine hundred and forty-five, the roads described in the Third Schedule hereto shall be main highways within and for the purposes of the Main Highways Act, 1922.
FIRST SCHEDULE
HIGHWAY DISTRICT No. 1
Ngapuhi Station Highway.—All that main highway in the Bay of Islands County, declared as the Ngapuhi Station Main Highway, described in Order in Council published in the Gazette on 5th July, 1928.
Bayley’s Coast Main Highway.—All that portion of the Bayley’s Coast Main Highway in Dargaville Borough and Hobson County, commencing at its junction with Dargaville–Tikinui Main Highway (Normanby Street), and proceeding west to and terminating at its junction with the Dargaville–Kaihu Main Highway opposite the north-west corner of part No. 1, L.T.P. 11880, all in Block XV, Kaihu Survey District, and being a distance of 1 mile 23 chains (1 mile 9 chains in Dargaville Borough and 14 chains in Hobson County); as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 121494, deposited in the office of the Main Highways Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured yellow.
Whangarei–Awanui via Kawakawa.—All that portion of main highway in Bay of Islands and Hokianga Counties, commencing at a point in Whakanekeneke Block, part No. D 1, Block V, Omapere Survey District, Bay of Islands County, and proceeding thence in a westerly direction and terminating at a point adjacent to Section 35, Block V, Omapere Survey District, Hokianga County, being a distance of 1 mile 20 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 122487, deposited in the office of the Main Highways Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured yellow.
Whangarei–Kiripaka Main Highway.—All that main highway, in Whangarei County, declared as the Whangarei–Kiripaka Main Highway, described in Order in Council dated 2nd July, 1928, and published in the Gazette on 5th July, 1928.
HIGHWAY DISTRICT No. 9
Masterton–Wellington.—All that portion of the Masterton–Wellington Main Highway in the Hutt County, commencing at its junction with Cemetery Road, and proceeding thence generally in a north-easterly direction and terminating at the south boundary of part Section 199, Block X, Belmont Survey District, being a distance of 2 miles 12 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 121401, deposited in the office of the Main Highways Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured yellow.
SECOND SCHEDULE
HIGHWAY DISTRICT No. 1
Ngapuhi Station Highway.—All that road or portion of road in the Bay of Islands County, commencing at its junction with the Kaikohe-Maungatapere Main Highway on the northern boundary of Section 14, Block III, Punakitere Survey District, and proceeding thence generally in a westerly direction and terminating at its junction with the railway reserve at the north-western corner of Ib 3, Otuihi Block, Block III, Punakitere Survey District, being a distance of 70 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 121685, deposited in the office of the Main Highways Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured green.
