Land taken for a Quarry in Block VII, Maungaru Survey District

A PROCLAMATION

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by the Public Works Act, 1928, and of every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in this behalf, I, Cyril Louis Norton Newall, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto is hereby taken for a quarry; and I do also declare that this Proclamation shall take effect on and after the twelfth day of November, one thousand nine hundred and forty-five.

In the North Auckland Land District ; as the same are more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 121921, deposited in the office of the Minister of Works at Wellington, and thereon coloured as above mentioned.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, and issued under the Seal of that Dominion, this 31st day of October, 1945.

Altering and redefining the Boundaries of the Parnassus and the Waiau Rabbit Districts.—(Notice No. Ag. 4229)

ORDER IN COUNCIL

At the Government House at Wellington, this 31st day of October, 1945

Present :

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL

WHEREAS by section thirty-three of the Rabbit Nuisance Act, 1928 (hereinafter referred to as “the said Act”), it is enacted that the boundaries of two or more contiguous rabbit districts may from time to time be altered by the Governor-General in Council in accordance with a resolution proposing the alteration passed by the Board of each of the districts affected :

And whereas the districts known as the “Parnassus Rabbit District” and the “Waiau Rabbit District” (hereinafter referred to as “the said districts”) have been constituted under and for the purposes of the Part II of the said Act :

And whereas a resolution was passed by the Board of the Parnassus Rabbit District on the nineteenth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and forty-five, and a similar resolution was passed by the Board of the Waiau Rabbit District on the nineteenth day of July, one thousand nine hundred and forty-five, praying in each case for the alteration of the boundaries of the said districts in the manner described in the said resolution and in the First Schedule hereto :

And whereas it is deemed expedient to alter and redefine the boundaries of the said districts in accordance with the said resolutions and in the manner hereinafter provided :

Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by the said Act, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, doth hereby alter and redefine the boundaries of the said districts so constituted as aforesaid, and doth hereby declare—

(1) That the area described in the First Schedule hereto, being now part of the Parnassus Rabbit District, shall be added to and form part of the Waiau Rabbit District ;

(2) That the boundaries of the Parnassus Rabbit District shall be set forth in the Second Schedule hereto ;

(3) That the boundaries of the Waiau Rabbit District shall be those set forth in the Third Schedule hereto ; and

(4) That this Order in Council shall take effect on the date of the publication thereof in the Gazette.

FIRST SCHEDULE

AREA EXCLUDED FROM THE PARNASSUS RABBIT DISTRICT AND INCLUDED IN THE WAIAU RABBIT DISTRICT

ALL that piece of land containing 991 acres 2 roods 5 perches, more or less, being Section 14, Annan Settlement, Blocks X, XI, and XIV, Waiau Survey District.

SECOND SCHEDULE

BOUNDARIES OF THE PARNASSUS RABBIT DISTRICT

ALL that area in the Counties of Amuri and Cheviot, of the Canterbury Land District, containing 99,009 acres, more or less, bounded by a line commencing at a point on the intersection of the right bank of the Conway River with the right bank of the Gelt River in Block I, Hawkswood Survey District ; thence proceeding in a south-westerly direction along the right bank of the Gelt River aforesaid to the easternmost corner of Lot 3, Deposited Plan No. 2884 ; thence south-westerly generally along the south-eastern boundary of the said Lot 3, Deposited Plan No. 2884, the north-western boundary of Lot 2, Deposited Plan No. 2884, and the south-eastern boundary of Lot 1, Deposited Plan No. 2884, to the westernmost corner of the last-mentioned lot ; thence across and easterly along the left bank of the Gelt River to the easternmost corner of Section 16, Square 80, Block IV, Waiau Survey District ; thence north-westerly and westerly along the north-eastern and northern boundaries of that section ; thence westerly along the northern boundary of Section 15, Square 80, to its north-western corner ; thence north-westerly along the fence-line bisecting the southern portion of Section (part) 48, Square 80 (the same being the northern boundary of the Mendip Hills Estate), to and across a road to the easternmost corner of Section 4, Annan Settlement ; thence south-westerly generally along the eastern and southern boundaries of that section, the eastern boundaries of Sections 6, 7, 8, 9, and 14, Annan Settlement, to the stock reserve on the Stanton River ; thence along the old rabbit fence to the Stanton River back in a northerly direction to the eastern boundary of Section 14 ; thence along same in a south-westerly and south-easterly direction to the left bank of the Waiau River ; thence south-easterly generally along the said left bank of that river to the sea ; thence northerly by the sea to its junction with the right bank of the Conway River ; thence up the said right bank of that river in a north-westerly direction to its intersection with the right bank of the Gelt River aforesaid, the point of commencement.

THIRD SCHEDULE

BOUNDARIES OF THE WAIAU RABBIT DISTRICT

ALL that area in the County of Amuri, in the Canterbury Land District, containing 147,991 acres, more or less, and bounded by a line commencing at a point on the intersection of the left bank of the Waiau River with the western boundary of Section 14, Annan Settlement, Block XIV, Waiau Survey District ; thence proceeding in a westerly and northerly direction along the said bank of the Waiau River to its junction with the Hanmer River ; thence easterly along the left bank of the Hanmer River aforesaid to its intersection with the fence-line, the same being the southern boundary of Run No. 14, Square 81 (Hossack Run) ; thence easterly along that boundary to the Lottery River ; thence northerly along the right bank of the said Lottery River and the western boundary of Section 126, Square 80, to its north-western corner ; thence easterly along the northern boundary of the said Section 126, Square 80, the northern boundary of Sections 1 and 21, Square 80 (the same being the existing land district boundary between Canterbury and Marlborough), to the right bank of the Towy River ; thence easterly generally along the said right bank of that river to the right bank of the Conway River ; thence south-easterly along the right bank of the Conway River aforesaid to its junction with the right bank of the Gelt River in Block I, Hawkswood Survey District ; thence south-westerly along the said right bank of that river to the easternmost corner of Lot 3, Deposited Plan No. 2884 ; thence south-westerly generally along the south-eastern boundary of the said Lot 3, Deposited Plan No. 2884, the north-western boundary of Lot 2, Deposited Plan No. 2884, and the south-eastern boundary of Lot 1, Deposited Plan No. 2884, to the westernmost corner of the last-mentioned lot ; thence across and easterly along the left bank of the Gelt River to the easternmost corner of Section 16, Square 80, Block IV, Waiau Survey District ; thence north-westerly and westerly along the north-eastern and northern boundaries of that section ; thence westerly along the northern boundary of Section 15, Square 80, to its north-western corner ; thence north-westerly along the fence-line bisecting the southern portion of Section (part) 48, Square 80 (the same being the northern boundary of the Mendip Hills Estate), to and across a road to the easternmost corner of Section 4, Annan Settlement ; thence south-westerly generally along the eastern and southern boundaries of that section, the eastern boundaries of Sections 6, 7, 8, 9, and 14, Annan Settlement, to the stock reserve on the Stanton River ; thence along the old rabbit fence to the Stanton River back in a northerly direction to the eastern boundary of Section 14 ; thence along same in a south-westerly and south-easterly direction to the Waiau River (left bank) ; thence westerly along that river to the point of commencement.

Consenting to the Raising of a Loan of £10,000 by the South Canterbury Catchment Board and prescribing the Conditions thereof

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL

WHEREAS the South Canterbury Catchment Board (hereinafter called “the said local authority”) proposes, pursuant to the provisions of section thirty of the Soil Conservation and Rivers Control Act, 1941, to borrow the sum of ten thousand pounds (£10,000) by a loan to be known as “Drainage Loan, 1945” (hereinafter called “the said loan”), for the purpose of carrying out work on the Ashburton–Hinds Drainage Scheme :

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, and in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on him by section eleven of the Local Government Loans Board Act, 1926, as set out in section twenty-nine of the Finance Act, 1932 (No. 2), and of all other powers and authorities enabling him in
