Appointment of Electricity Controller

IN exercise of the powers and authorities conferred by the Supply Control Emergency Regulations 1939 and the Electricity Emergency Regulations 1939, I, Robert Semple, Minister of Works for the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby revoke the appointment dated 21st July, 1945, of Alexander Cay Owen as Electricity Controller, and do hereby appoint Frederick Templeton Mannheim Kissel to be Electricity Controller for the purposes of the Electricity Emergency Regulations 1939.

Government Railways Appeal Board.—Appointment of Member

Wellington, 1st September, 1945.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred upon me by section 9 of the Government Railways Amendment Act, 1927, I, Robert Semple, Minister of Railways, do hereby appoint as a member of the Government Railways Appeal Board, Frank Clifford Wilson, a member of the Railways Department at Wanganui, to hold office for a further term from and including the 11th day of September, 1945, to and including the 10th day of November, 1945.

The Clothing Trade Labour Legislation Suspension Order 1940, Amendment No. 2

PURSUANT to the Labour Legislation Emergency Regulations 1940, the Minister of Labour doth hereby order as follows :—

  1. This Order may be cited as the Clothing Trade Labour Legislation Suspension Order 1940, Amendment No. 2.

  2. This Order shall be read together with and deemed part of the Clothing Trade Labour Legislation Suspension Order 1940 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Order).

  3. Clause 3 of the principal Order is revoked and the following clause substituted therefor :—

“3. The provisions of all Acts and all regulations thereunder, and all awards and industrial agreements under the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act, 1925, and of all other voluntary agreements affecting conditions of employment, shall be and are hereby suspended so far as any such provisions operate to require the employment as an apprentice of any female worker who enters the clothing trade for the first time after reaching the age of twenty-one years, subject, however, to such workers being paid not less than the following weekly rates of wages :—

Per Week.

“First six months . . . . 3 0 0
“Second six months . . . . 3 2 6
“Thereafter journeywomen’s rates.

“The weekly rates of wages hereinbefore prescribed shall be deemed to be subject to the provisions of the two general orders made under the Rates of Wages Emergency Regulations 1940 and dated the 9th August, 1940, and 31st March, 1942, respectively, which shall be deemed to have effect according to their tenor.”

  1. Clause 6 of the principal Order (as inserted by clause 3 of the Clothing Trade Labour Legislation Suspension Order 1940, Amendment No. 1) and the Clothing Trade Labour Legislation Suspension Order 1940, Amendment No. 1, are revoked.

  2. This Order shall come into effect on the day of the date hereof.
