Boundaries of Christchurch Drainage District altered

A PROCLAMATION

IN pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me by section two of the Christchurch District Drainage Amendment Act, 1920, as extended by the Christchurch District Drainage Amendment Act, 1944, and of all other powers and authorities enabling me in this behalf, I, Cyril Louis Norton Newall, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the areas described in the First and Second Schedules hereto shall be added to and form part of the Christchurch Drainage District; and, with the like powers and authorities, do hereby also declare that the areas described in the First Schedule hereto shall form a new sub-district of the said district to be called the Sumner Sub-district, and that the areas described in the Second Schedule hereto shall be added to the Heathcote Sub-district of the said district.

FIRST SCHEDULE

AREAS DECLARED TO FORM THE SUMNER SUB-DISTRICT

ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District, bounded by a line commencing at a point on the easternmost corner of Reserve No. 4324 (McCormack’s Bay), being a point of the boundary of the City of Christchurch (New Zealand Gazette, 1945, page 341); thence proceeding north-easterly along the north-western side of the Sumner Road and south-easterly generally by the estuary of the Avon and Heathcote Rivers and the mean high-water mark of the sea to Godley Head; thence south-westerly generally by the mean high-water mark of the Lyttelton Harbour to a point due south of the Trig. Station MM., being a point on the boundary of the Borough of Lyttelton (New Zealand Gazette, 1938, pages 2831–2); thence due north and generally south-westerly and north-westerly along that boundary to its intersection with the western boundary of Lot 1 on plan deposited in the Canterbury District Land Registry Office at Christchurch as No. 4018; thence northerly along the western boundary of that lot and along the western boundary of the Redcliffs Rifle Range to its westernmost corner; thence along a right line to the north-eastern corner of Lot 47 on plan deposited as aforesaid as No. 3416; thence along the northern boundary of that lot and the north-western boundary of Lot 48 on plan deposited as aforesaid as No. 3416 to Moncks Spur Road; thence westerly along the northern boundaries generally of Lots 55 and 57 and northerly along the eastern boundary of Lot 61, all on plan deposited as aforesaid as No. 3565, to the northernmost corner of the last-mentioned lot; thence along a right line running due west to the easternmost corner of Reserve No. 4324 aforesaid, the point of commencement.

Also all that area in the Canterbury Land District, bounded by a line commencing at a point on the westernmost corner of Reserve No. 4324 (McCormack’s Bay), being a point on the boundary of the City of Christchurch (New Zealand Gazette, 1944, page 1299); thence proceeding easterly and south-easterly by right lines bearing 95° 09′, distance 2792·2 links, and bearing 146° 32′, distance 2701·7 links, to the easternmost corner of the said Reserve No. 4324; thence westerly and north-westerly along the northern side of the Sumner Road to the westernmost corner of that reserve, the point of commencement.

Also all that area in the County of Heathcote of the Canterbury Land District, bounded by a line commencing at the southernmost corner of Lot 48 on plan deposited as aforesaid as No. 3721, being a point on the boundary of the City of Christchurch (New Zealand Gazette, 1945, page 237); thence proceeding north-easterly along the south-eastern boundary of the said Lot 48 to a point on the Mount Pleasant Road opposite the westernmost corner of Lot 1 on plan deposited as aforesaid as No. 11515; thence easterly across the Mount Pleasant Road to the westernmost corner of the said Lot 1; thence proceeding generally in a southerly direction along the eastern side of the said Mount Pleasant Road to a point in line with the south-eastern boundary of Lot 8 on plan deposited as aforesaid as No. 10400; thence south-westerly across the Mount Pleasant Road, to and along the said south-eastern boundary of that lot and the south-eastern boundary of Lot 7 on plan deposited as aforesaid as No. 10400, and its production to the south-western side of Muritai Terrace; thence north-westerly along the south-western side of that terrace to and across Major Hornbrook’s Road; thence north-westerly and north-easterly along the south-western and north-western side of that road to the southernmost corner of Lot 1 on plan deposited as aforesaid as No. 9478; thence north-westerly along the south-western boundary of the said Lot 1 and Lot 7 on that plan and Lot 5 on plan deposited as aforesaid as No. 10015 to the westernmost corner thereof; thence north-easterly along the north-western boundaries of Lots 4, 2, and 1 on plan deposited as aforesaid as No. 10015 to Major Hornbrook’s Road; thence north-easterly along the north-western side of that road to a point opposite the southernmost corner of Lot 48 on plan deposited as aforesaid as No. 3721; thence across Major Hornbrook’s Road to the said southernmost corner of that lot, the point of commencement.

SECOND SCHEDULE

AREAS INCLUDED IN THE HEATHCOTE SUB-DISTRICT

ALL that area in the County of Heathcote of the Canterbury Land District, bounded by a line commencing at a point on the existing boundary of the Special Area of the Christchurch Drainage District (New Zealand Gazette, 1941, page 1016) on Albert Terrace, being the easternmost corner of Lot 3 on plan deposited as aforesaid as No. 10297; thence south-easterly along the south-western side of the said Albert Terrace to the southern boundary of Lot 9 on plan deposited as aforesaid as No. 10297; thence westerly along the said southern boundary of that lot and northerly along its western boundary and the western boundaries of Lots 8, 7, 6, and 5, on plan deposited as aforesaid as No. 10297, to a point in line with the south-western boundary of Lot 1 on plan deposited as aforesaid as No. 7566; thence by a right line to the southernmost corner of that lot, being a point on the boundary of the Special Area of the Christchurch Drainage District aforesaid; thence northerly and north-easterly along that boundary to the point of commencement.

Also all that area in the County of Heathcote of the Canterbury Land District, bounded by a line commencing at a point on the intersection of the north-eastern boundary of the Christchurch-Lyttelton Railway Reserve with the northern boundary of R.S. 91, being a point on the existing boundary of the Christchurch Drainage District; thence westerly and southerly along the northern and western boundary of the said R.S. 91 to the easternmost corner of Lot 1 on plan deposited as aforesaid as No. 6729; thence south-westerly along the south-eastern boundary of that lot to and across Opawa Road; thence north-westerly along the south-western side of that road to the south-eastern boundary of Reserve 3803; thence south-westerly, southerly, and westerly along the south-eastern, eastern, and southern boundaries of Reserve 3803 aforesaid, to and across Bishopworth Street; along the southern boundary of the land
