Notice to Persons affected by Applications for Licenses under Part III of the Industrial Efficiency Act, 1936
Taking of Fish for Sale
J. C. Heberley, Okukari, Picton, has applied for a variation of his existing license in respect of the “Comrade,” PN. 4, so as to operate in its place the 36 ft. 25 h.p. vessel “Alcedo” (not yet registered), using set-nets, drag-nets, long lines, hand-lines, and crayfish-pots, catches to be landed at Picton.
T. R. Kane, Awa Street, Nuhaka, Hawke’s Bay, has applied for a license to permit him to operate his 12 ft. vessel “Kunai” (not yet registered), using long lines, hand-lines, and crayfish-pots, catches to be landed at Waikokopu, and also for a fish-retailer’s license to enable him to hawk his catches for sale at Nuhaka, Whakakai, and Morere.
W. E. Leach, 20 Gonville Avenue, Wanganui, has applied for a license to permit him to operate the 28 ft. 6 h.p. vessel “No Spray” (not yet registered), using drag-nets, long lines, hand-lines, and crayfish-pots, catches to be landed at Wanganui.
Persons considering themselves materially affected by the decision of the Bureau on these applications should make any desired representations in writing not later than the 5th July, 1945, to G. L. O’Halloran, Secretary, Bureau of Industry, G.P.O. Box 3025, Wellington.

CROWN LANDS NOTICES
Land in Taranaki Land District for Selection on Optional Tenures
District Lands and Survey Office,
New Plymouth, 20th June, 1945.
NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned sections are open for selection on optional tenures under the Land Act, 1924; and applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, New Plymouth, up to 4 o’clock p.m. on Monday, 23rd July, 1945.
Applicants should appear personally for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office, New Plymouth, on Wednesday, 25th July, 1945, at 10.30 o’clock a.m., but if any applicant is unable to attend he may be examined by any other Land Board or by any Commissioner of Crown Lands.
Applicants are required to produce for inspection when examined documentary evidence of their financial position and farming experience.
The ballot will be held immediately upon conclusion of the examination of applicants, and the successful applicant is required to pay immediately at conclusion of ballot a deposit comprising the first half-year’s rent, broken-period rent, lease and mortgage (if any) fees, and deposit on account of improvement loading.
SCHEDULE
TARANAKI LAND DISTRICT
FIRST-CLASS LAND
Taumarunui County.—Ohura Survey District
SECTION 9, Block XVI: Area, 35 acres 2 roods. Capital value, £50. Deposit on deferred payments, £10. Deferred payments: Half-yearly instalment (term: ten years), £2 12s. 7d. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £1.
Weighted with £300 (payable in cash) for improvements, comprising dwelling, garage, and implement-shed, cow-byre, tool-shed, and hay-shed, 50 chains road-boundary fencing, 40 chains subdivisional fencing, 25 acres felled and grassed, 15 acres ploughed.
This section is situated on the Otunui Road, ten miles from Taumarunui Post-office, Railway-station, and Saleyards, one mile from Otunui School, and fifteen miles from Piriaka Dairy Factory; access is by metalled road from Taumarunui. The section comprises 20 acres flat land, 5 acres of steep pumice sidings, the balance being swampy. The soil is pumice loam on pumice formation; water is provided by streams. This area is not suitable as a separate holding, except to a selector who has other means or who is prepared to undertake casual farm work in the district. The section is subdivided into eight paddocks.

THIRD-CLASS LAND
Ohura County.—Aria Survey District
SECTIONS 8 and 9, Subdivision 1 of Section 10, Block X, and Subdivision 1 of Section 9, Block XI: Area, 1,051 acres 2 roods 4.7 perches. Capital value, £270. Deposit on deferred payments, £30. Deferred payments: Half-yearly instalment (term: 34½ years), £7 16s. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £5 8s.
Weighted with £500 for improvements, comprising dwelling, whare, wool-shed and yards, cow-byre, two old sheds, half-share of 60 chains boundary-fencing, 200 chains internal fencing, and 200 acres felled and grassed. This sum is payable in cash, or, after payment of a deposit of £50, the balance may be left on table mortgage to the State Advances Corporation for fifteen years, repayable by half-yearly instalments of principal and interest of £20 19s. 3d. each. The cost of preparation of mortgage (£2) will be payable by the selector.
This is a grazing property situated on the Woods Road, eight miles from Matiere Post-office, eight miles from Niho Niho School and Railway-station, and ten miles from Matiere Dairy Factory and Saleyards; access is by metalled road from Matiere. Approximately 200 acres of the property comprises easy hill country in fair pasture, 90 acres of which have been felled, but now reverted to manuka and bracken fern; the balance is steep birch bush land of sandstone and rhyolite formation. The soil is loam resting on papa and sandstone formation; watered by springs and streams. Ragwort is in evidence, but is not troublesome. The property is subdivided into nine paddocks.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned section is open for lease under the Public Reserves, Domains, and National Parks Act, 1928; and applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Invercargill, up to 4 o’clock p.m. on Tuesday, 10th July, 1945.
Applicants should appear personally for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office, Invercargill, on Thursday, 12th July, 1945, at 10.30 o’clock a.m., but if any applicant is unable to attend he may be examined by any other Commissioner of Crown Lands.
The ballot will be held immediately upon conclusion of the examination of applicants, and the successful applicant is required to pay immediately at conclusion of ballot a deposit comprising the first half-year’s rent, broken-period rent, and lease fee.

SOUTHLAND LAND DISTRICT
Signal Station Reserve.—Toetoes Survey District
SECTION 30, Block VIII: Area, 55 acres 1 rood 3 perches. Half-yearly rent, £10.
Weighted with £14 (payable for cash) for improvements, comprising fencing.
The reserve is situated within a mile of Fortrose on eastern side of entrance to Toetoes Harbour. Approximately 30 acres is suitable for grazing.
Abstract of Conditions
(1) Term of lease: Fourteen years from date of selection.
(2) Rent payable in advance on 1st January and 1st July.
(3) Right of renewal for one further term of fourteen years.
(4) In the event of lessee not taking a renewal and the land being reoffered the improvements belonging to lessee will be protected to him.
(5) No improvements to be effected without consent.
(6) Lessee liable for payment of all rates, taxes, and other assessments.
(7) Lessee to prevent the growth and spread of gorse, broom, and other noxious weeds on the land.
(8) No right to sublet, transfer, or otherwise dispose of the land except with consent.
(9) No right to cultivate the land.
(10) Lease subject to termination if conditions not fulfilled.
