Inspector under the Noxious Weeds Act, 1928, appointed.—(Notice No. Ag. 4189)

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to appoint, on the 22nd day of May, 1945—

Edward Lamerton Robinson

to be an Inspector for the purposes of the Noxious Weeds Act, 1928, for the district within the jurisdiction of the Southland County Council.

Notice of Intention to take Land in the Borough of Thames for Housing Purposes

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, to take the land described in the Schedule hereto for housing purposes: And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Thames and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Works at Wellington.


SCHEDULE

APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land required to be taken: 35·2 perches.

Being Lot 54, Whakaruaki Block.

Situated in Block IV, Thames Survey District (Borough of Thames).

In the Auckland Land District; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 121433, deposited in the office of the Minister of Works at Wellington, and thereon edged red.

As witness my hand at Wellington, this 25th day of May, 1945.

Redefining Boundaries of the City of Christchurch, the County of Waimairi, and the Avon and Fendalton Ridings of the County of Waimairi, the County of Heathcote, and the Avonside, Bromley, Hillsborough, Mount Pleasant, and Heathcote Valley Ridings of the County of Heathcote

Wellington, 29th May, 1945.

PURSUANT to the provisions of section 147 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933 (hereinafter referred to as “the said section”), the boundaries of the City of Christchurch are hereby defined as set out in the First Schedule hereto, the union of the said city with the Borough of Sumner having been effected by Proclamation made under the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, dated the 27th day of March, 1945, and published in Gazette No. 22 of the 28th day of March, 1945, at page 341, and the boundaries of the said city having been altered by the Orders in Council enumerated in the Sixth and Seventh Schedules hereto :

And also, in pursuance of the provisions of the said section, the boundaries of the County of Waimairi and of the Avon and Fendalton Ridings of that county affected by the Orders in Council set out in the Sixth Schedule hereto are hereby defined as set out in the Second and Third Schedules hereto respectively :

And also, in pursuance of the provisions of the said section, the boundaries of the County of Heathcote and of the Avonside, Bromley, Hillsborough, Mount Pleasant, and Heathcote Valley Ridings of that county affected by the Orders in Council set out in the Seventh Schedule hereto are hereby defined as set out in the Fourth and Fifth Schedules hereto respectively.


FIRST SCHEDULE

BOUNDARIES OF THE CITY OF CHRISTCHURCH

ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District, bounded as described in the New Zealand Gazette No. 22 of the 28th March, 1945, at page 341.


SECOND SCHEDULE

BOUNDARIES OF THE COUNTY OF WAIMAIRI

ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District, bounded by a line commencing at a point in the middle of the Waimakariri River (now old dry bed of south branch of river) in line with the centre of the road forming the western boundary of Rural Section 7449, Block VI, Christchurch Survey District; thence proceeding in a north-easterly direction along the middle of the said south branch of that river; along the middle of Stewart’s Gully and south-easterly down the middle of the main channel of the Waimakariri River to the sea; thence southerly generally along mean high-water mark of the sea to a point in line with the southern side of Beach Road, being a point on the boundary of the City of Christchurch as hereinbefore described; thence generally in a westerly and southerly direction along that boundary to its junction with the northern boundary of the Riccarton Borough (New Zealand Gazette, 1932, page 554); thence proceeding westerly, northerly, southerly, and south-easterly generally along the boundary of the Riccarton Borough aforesaid to its junction with the north-western boundary of the City of Christchurch aforesaid; thence south-westerly along that boundary to the Heathcote River near the southernmost corner of Rural Section 159; thence north-westerly to and along the centre of the road forming the north-eastern boundaries of Rural Sections 146, 156, 211, 240, and 108; thence westerly along the centre of the road forming the northern boundaries of the said Rural Section 108 and of Rural Sections 160, 389, Reserve 79 (racecourse), and Rural Section 1155; thence north-easterly along the centre of the road forming the north-western boundaries of Rural Sections 1226, 1209, 1236, 1089, 1714, 3282, 4414, 2354, 58, 2780, and Reserve 323; thence northerly along the centre of the road running through Reserve 946 and forming the western boundaries of Rural Sections 4326 and 7449 and the production of the centre of the said road to the point of commencement.


THIRD SCHEDULE

BOUNDARIES OF THE AVON RIDING OF THE COUNTY OF WAIMAIRI

ALL that area in the County of Waimairi, Canterbury Land District, bounded by a line commencing at a point on the intersection of the centre of Westminster Street with the production north-westward of the south-western side of Shirley Road, being a point on the boundary of the City of Christchurch, as hereinbefore described; thence north-easterly and north-westerly along the centre of the said Westminster Street and Hills Road to the centre of Brigg’s Road; thence easterly along the centre of that road and Horseshoe Lake Road to the centre of Lake Terrace Road; thence northerly along the centre of Burwood Road to the centre of Travis Road; thence easterly along the centre of that road to the centre of Frost’s Road; thence northerly along the centre of that road to the centre of Beach Road; thence easterly along the centre of that road, to and across Racecourse Road to the intersection of the southern side of Beach Road with the eastern side of Racecourse Road aforesaid, being a point on the boundary of the City of Christchurch aforesaid; thence south-westerly generally along that boundary to the point of commencement.


BOUNDARIES OF THE FENDALTON RIDING OF THE COUNTY OF WAIMAIRI

All that area in the Waimairi County, Canterbury Land District, bounded by a line commencing at a point on the intersection of the centre of Ilam Road with the south-western side of Wairarapa Road, being a point on the boundary of the City of Christchurch, as hereinbefore described; thence south-westerly and southerly along the centre of Ilam Road aforesaid to Kirkwood Avenue; thence easterly along the centre of that road to the boundary of the Borough of Riccarton (New Zealand Gazette, 1932, page 554); thence north-easterly, southerly, and again north-easterly generally along that boundary to its junction with the boundary of the City of Christchurch aforesaid; thence north-easterly and north-westerly generally along the said City of Christchurch boundary to the point of commencement.


FOURTH SCHEDULE

BOUNDARIES OF THE COUNTY OF HEATHCOTE

ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District, bounded on the south-west, west, north, and east generally by the boundary of the City of Christchurch, as hereinbefore described, and on the south-east by the estuary of the Heathcote and Avon Rivers.

Also all that area bounded towards the north and east generally by the boundary of the City of Christchurch aforesaid, from a point on the left bank of the Heathcote River at the southernmost corner of Rural Section 76, Block XV, Christchurch Survey District, to the boundary of the Borough of Lyttelton (New Zealand Gazette, 1938, pages 2831–32); thence towards the south and south-east generally by the said boundary of the Borough of Lyttelton and the summit of the Port Hills to the southernmost corner of part Rural Section 452; thence north-westerly along the south-western boundary of the said part Rural Section 452, to and across the Summit Road, and along the north-eastern boundary of part Rural Section 37133 (closed road) and its production to the north-eastern side of Worsley’s Track; thence towards the south-west and west generally by the said Worsley’s Track to the north-eastern corner of Rural Section 383; thence north-westerly by a right line to the southernmost corner of Rural Section 76 on the left bank of the Heathcote River aforesaid, the point of commencement.


FIFTH SCHEDULE

BOUNDARIES OF THE AVONSIDE RIDING OF THE COUNTY OF HEATHCOTE

ALL that area in the County of Heathcote, Canterbury Land District, bounded by a line commencing at a point on the southernmost corner of Rural Section 6754, being a point on the boundary of the City of Christchurch, as hereinbefore described; thence proceeding in a north-westerly direction and generally north-easterly and south-easterly along that boundary to a point in line with the north-western side of Page’s Road; thence south-westerly by a right line across the Avon River and along the said north-western side of Page’s Road to the southernmost corner of Rural Section 6754 aforesaid, the point of commencement.


BOUNDARIES OF THE BROMLEY RIDING OF THE COUNTY OF HEATHCOTE

All that area in the County of Heathcote, Canterbury Land District, bounded towards the east generally by the City of Christchurch, as hereinbefore described, from a point in line with the north-western side of Page’s Road to the estuary of the Heathcote and Avon Rivers; thence towards the south-east by the said estuary to the boundary of the City of Christchurch aforesaid; thence towards the south-west and north-west generally by that boundary to the boundary of the Avonside Riding hereinbefore described; thence towards the north-west by that boundary to the point of commencement.
