Offers invited for Surplus War Assets
THE War Assets Realization Board, Defence Services Building,
Bunny Street, Wellington (postal address, Box 5080,
Lambton Quay), invites offers for :—

CYCLONE NETTING (used), held at R.N.Z.A.F. Stations as
follows: Approximately 6,350 square yards 3 in. by
12 gauge at New Plymouth, and 2,550 square yards
4 in. by 10 gauge at Ohakea. For inspection, contact
the Commanding Officer at stations stated. -
SCRAP METALS, comprising iron, steel, aluminium, duralumin,
&c., held at R.N.Z.A.F. Stations as follows: Approxi-
mately 2 tons at Whenuapai, 1 ton at Hobsonville,
84 lb. at Rotorua, 1 ton at Ohakea, 81 tons at Rongotai,
13 tons at Woodbourne, 5 tons at Wigram, 15 tons at
Harewood, and 1½ tons at Christchurch. For inspection,
contact the Commanding Officer at stations stated. -
SCRAP METALS held by Navy Department.—Approximately
15 tons lead-covered copper cable, 8 tons brass, gun-
metal, &c. (mixed), 1½ tons aluminium scrap, and
⅓ ton zinc scrap at Auckland and 768 lb. lead scrap
at Ashburton. For inspection, contact Naval Store
Officer at depots stated. -
HESSIAN PALLIASSES (new), 22,000 in all, offers invited
in lots of not less than 100. Samples may be seen at
the Board’s Wellington Office, the offices of the Board’s
District Executive Officers, Dilworth Building, Queen
Street, Auckland, and Old Art Gallery Building, Durham
Street, Christchurch, and also at the Public Works
Department, Dunedin. -
SCRAP RUBBER.—Approximately 3,000 lb. at Auckland.
For inspection, contact Captain Barger, U.S.J.P.B.
(Phone 31780, Auckland). -
GAS-PRODUCERS.—77 in all, Government design, Type “B,”
suitable for 2-ton motor-trucks or over. Offers invited
for the whole or any number. Inspection may be made
at Ministry of Supply Stores, Aotea Quay, Wellington.
Offers close with the Board’s Secretary, to whom they should
be addressed in envelopes marked “Offer for . . . . . . ,” at noon
on Monday, 11th June, 1945. Further particulars and conditions
of sale are obtainable from the Board’s Wellington office, the
offices of the Board’s District Executive Officers, Auckland and
Christchurch (addresses shown above), and also at the Public
Works Department, Dunedin.

Price Order No. 369 (Amending Price Order No. 340) (Main Crop
Potatoes)
PURSUANT to the powers conferred on it by the Control of
Prices Emergency Regulations 1939,* the Price Tribunal,
acting with the authority of the Minister of Industries and Commerce,
doth hereby make the following amending Price Order :—

This Order may be cited as Price Order No. 369, and shall
be read together with and deemed part of Price Order No. 340†
(hereinafter referred to as the principal Order). -
This Order shall come into force on the 18th day of May,

Paragraph (a) of subclause (3) of clause 11 of the principal
Order is hereby amended by omitting the words “2 in.” and
substituting the words “1½ in.”

Price Order No. 370 (Prunes)
PURSUANT to the powers conferred on it by the Control of
Prices Emergency Regulations 1939,* the Price Tribunal,
acting with the authority of the Minister of Industries and Commerce,
doth hereby make the following Price Order :—
PRELIMINARY
-
This Order may be cited as Price Order No. 370, and shall
come into force on the 18th day of May, 1945. -
(1) Price Order No. 155† is hereby revoked.
(2) The revocation of the said Order shall not affect the
liability of any person for any offence in relation thereto committed
before the coming into force of this Order.
APPLICATION OF THIS ORDER
- This order applies with respect to all dehydrated fruit
(whether imported into New Zealand or grown in New Zealand)
that is sold or offered for sale under the name of “prunes.”

FIXING MAXIMUM WHOLESALE AND RETAIL PRICES OF PRUNES
Wholesalers’ Prices
- The maximum price that may be charged or received by
any wholesaler for any prunes shall be—
(a) For prunes sold in any area (whether a “free delivery”
area or not) within which any general wholesale merchant
carrying on business in any of the cities or boroughs of Auckland, Blenheim, Christchurch, Dannevirke,
Dunedin, Gisborne, Greymouth, Hamilton, Hastings,
Hawera, Hokitika, Invercargill, Masterton, Napier,
Nelson, New Plymouth, Palmerston North, Timaru,
Wanganui, Westport, or Wellington normally under-
takes the delivery of goods to retailers :—

Retailers’ Prices
- (1) Subject to the following provisions of this clause the
maximum price that may be charged or received by any retailer
for any prunes shall be—
(a) For prunes sold in any area within which any general
wholesale merchant carrying on business in any of the
cities or boroughs of Auckland, Blenheim, Christchurch,
Dannevirke, Dunedin, Gisborne, Greymouth, Hamilton,
Hastings, Hawera, Hokitika, Invercargill, Masterton,
Napier, Nelson, New Plymouth, Palmerston North,
Timaru, Wanganui, Westport, or Wellington normally
undertakes the free delivery of goods to retailers :—

(2) If in respect of any prunes sold by a retailer the maximum
price calculated in accordance with the foregoing provisions of this
clause is not an exact number of pence or half-pence, the maximum
price of the lot shall be computed to the nearest upward halfpenny.
- Notwithstanding anything in the foregoing provisions of
this Order and subject to such conditions, if any, as it thinks fit,
the Tribunal, on application by any retailer, may authorize special
maximum retail prices in respect of any prunes where for any reason
extraordinary freight charges are incurred by the retailer in obtaining
delivery from the source of supply that is nearest or most convenient
of access to him. Any authority given by the Tribunal under this
clause may apply with respect to a specified lot or consignment of
prunes or may relate generally to all prunes sold by the retailer
while the approval remains in force.
Retailer to Exhibit Prices
- Every retailer who offers or exposes any prunes for sale in
any shop shall keep in a prominent position in such proximity to
the prunes to which it relates as to be obviously descriptive thereof
a ticket, placard, or label on which shall be stated in legible and
prominent characters the size of the mesh and the retail price per
pound.
