Exemption Order under the Transport Legislation Emergency Regulations 1940
P URSUANT to the Transport Legislation Emergency Regulations 1940, the Minister of Transport doth hereby order and declare that the provisions of clause (1) of Regulation 7 of the Motor-drivers Regulations 1940, so far as they relate to the driving of heavy trade motors, shall not apply to the person hereinafter mentioned, but in lieu thereof the following provision shall apply:
A motor-driver's license issued under the Motor-drivers Regulations 1940 to the person described in Column 1 of the Schedule hereunder may authorize him to drive a heavy trade motor for the purpose of the business of the respective employer described in Column 2 of the said Schedule, but shall not authorize him, while he is under the age of eighteen years, to drive a heavy trade motor for any other purpose.

Plant declared a Noxious Weed in Franklin County.-(Notice No. Ag. 4173)

THE following special order made by the Franklin County Council on the 25th day of September, 1944, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Noxious Weeds Act, 1928.
SPECIAL ORDER
"In exercise of the powers conferred on it by the Noxious Weeds Act, 1928, the Franklin County Council hereby resolves and declares, by way of special order, that the plant 'Winged Thistle' (Carduus pycnocephalus), being a plant mentioned in the Second Schedule to the said Act, is a noxious weed within the County of Franklin."

The Servicemen's Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943.-Notice declaring Land taken for the Settlement of a Discharged Serviceman
WHEREAS an application has been made for the consent of the Land Sales Court to a transaction which relates to the land described in the Schedule hereto and to which Part III of the Servicemen's Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943, applies:
And whereas the Land Sales Committee to which the application has been referred is of opinion that the land to which the application relates is farm land suitable or adaptable for the settlement of a discharged serviceman:
And whereas the said committee, not being satisfied that the Crown had decided not to acquire or arrange for the acquisition of the land, did on the 8th day of February, 1945, make an order determining the basic value of the land and no appeal from the said order was made within the time prescribed by the said Act or within any further time allowed by the Court:
And whereas the said land is not the land of any serviceman who is for the time being serving outside New Zealand in any of His Majesty's Forces or in any British ship:
Now, therefore, the Minister of Lands, acting in pursuance of section 51 of the said Act, doth hereby declare that the said land is taken for the settlement of a discharged serviceman, and hereby specifies the 1st day of June, 1945, as the date on which the said land shall be deemed to be vested in His Majesty the King.
SCHEDULE
AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT
ALL that piece or parcel of land being-firstly, one hundred and twenty-nine (129) acres and nineteen (19) perches, more or less, being Lot 2 of Section 2, Block II, Ngongotaha Survey District, and being the whole of the land in certificate of title, Vol. 622, folio 135 (Auckland Registry); and, secondly, three (3) acres one (1) rood and thirteen (13) perches, more or less, being Sections 36 and 37, Block II, Ngongotaha Survey District, and being the whole of the land in certificate of title, Vol. 683, folio 252 (Auckland Registry).
As witness my hand, this 27th day of March, 1945.

FIRSTLY, all that parcel of land containing thirty-nine (39) acres three (3) roods thirty-four (34) perches, more or less, situated in Block XII, Rotorua Survey District, being Mangorewa-Kaharoa No. 6E Section 3 No. 2H No. 6A Block, and comprising all the land described in certificate of title, Vol. 691, folio 246 (Auckland Registry); and, secondly, all that parcel of land containing seventy-four (74) acres three (3) roods twenty-two (22) perches, being Lot 2 on Deposited Plan 26341, being part Mangorewa-Kaharoa No. 6E Section 3 No. 2H 6B Block, in Block XII, Rotorua Survey District, and comprising all the land described in certificate of title, Vol. 691, folio 245 (Auckland Registry).

Sale of Surplus War Assets
TENDERS for the purchase of the following assets close with the Secretary, War Assets Realization Board, Defence Services Buildings, Bunny Street, Wellington (postal address, Box 5080, Lambton Quay, Wellington), at the time and on the date indicated under the headings below:
(a) Wrecked motor-vehicles (Tenders Nos. 57 to 84 inclusive), comprising nine trucks and cars at V.R.D., Palmerston North, and eighteen trucks and cars and eight water-tanks on trailers at V.R.D., Auckland. Palmerston North vehicles may be inspected on 4th and 5th proximo and the Auckland ones on 11th and 12th proximo. Closing dates for tenders are:-
Palmerston North vehicles : Noon on 9th April, 1945.
Auckland vehicles: Noon on 23rd April, 1945.

(c) One only Crompton Parkinson electric motor with starter (Tender No. 86), 940 r.m.p., 400 volts, 25 h.p. 50 cycles, 3 phase, 4 amps. May be inspected at McKay's Crossing Camp, Paekakariki. Further information and conditions of tender may be obtained at the Board's Wellington office. Tenders close at noon on 9th April, 1945.
Tenders for items advertised must be addressed to the Board's Secretary in envelopes marked "Tender No. ... " The highest or any tender not necessarily accepted.
The Board also announces that heavy galvanized 44-gallon drums are for sale at Β£2 5s. each, and that application should be made to Army Headquarters, Wellington, and Defence Headquarters, Auckland and Christchurch.
