NOTICE is hereby given in pursuance of the Regulations Act, 1936, of the making of regulations and orders as under :—

The Foodstuffs Rationing Coupon Notice (No. 2) 1944, Amendment No. 1
PURSUANT to the powers conferred on the Rationing Controller by the Rationing Emergency Regulations 1942, and duly delegated to me by the said Controller pursuant to Regulation 4 of the Supply Control Emergency Regulations 1939, I, Andrew John Costelloe, the Secretary to the Rationing Controller, hereby give the following directions :—

This notice may be cited as the Foodstuffs Rationing Coupon Notice (No. 2) 1944, Amendment No. 1, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Foodstuffs Rationing Coupon Notice (No. 2) 1944* (hereinafter referred to as “the principal notice”).

This notice shall come into force on the 19th day of March, 1945.

Clause 4 of the principal notice (which prescribes the four-weekly ration of sugar) is hereby amended by omitting the expression “3 lb.”, and substituting the expression “2½ lb.”

Notice of a Scheme of Development and Reconstruction (Hutt Valley)
IN accordance with subsection (2) of section 29 of the Finance Act (No. 3), 1944, I, Robert Semple, the Minister of Works, hereby give notice of the nature of the work included in the scheme of development and construction described in the First Schedule hereto. The approximate boundaries of the area hereby affected are as described in the Second Schedule hereto, such area being hereinafter referred to as “the area.” This notice shall remain in force until the 31st day of March, 1955.
FIRST SCHEDULE
NATURE OF WORK
THE development of the area for residential and business and industrial purposes with the provision of additional, and the improvement of existing, access and public utilities and amenities, including in particular the provision of :—
(1) Water-supply.—A water-supply scheme comprising the collection of water from the Hutt River from a point above the confluence of the Hutt River with the Pakuratahi River and the conduct thence of such water by tunnels and pipe-lines to give supply where determined by the Minister to be necessary within the area.
(2) Road Access.—New road access and improved existing road access to and through the area to and from Lower Hutt, the lower and upper portions of the Hutt Valley, and from Plimmerton and Pahautanui.
(3) Drainage and Sewage Disposal.—Drainage and sewage disposal works within the area and connecting to the existing drainage system in the lower portion of the Hutt Valley.
(4) Transport.—New and additional facilities for the conveyance of passengers and goods to and from and within the area.
(5) Electricity and Gas.—The supply of electrical energy and gas within the said area where determined by the Minister of Works to be necessary.
(6) River Control and Improvement.—Works for the improvement and control of rivers, streams, and watercourses for the benefit and protection of lands within the area.
(7) Buildings and sites for the general Government and for local government.
(8) Roads and Streets.—The legalization and construction of roads and streets within the area where determined by the Minister of Works to be necessary.
(9) Housing.—The construction of dwellinghouses and other works provided for by the Housing Act, 1919, and its amendments.
(10) Land drainage and reclamation.
