Officer authorized to Attest Signatures of Natives to Instruments under Chattels Transfer Act, 1924

PURSUANT to section five hundred and forty-seven of the Native Land Act, 1931, I, Cyril Louis Norton Newall, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby notify and declare that

Headley Arthur Richard Teasdale, Building Supervisor, Hastings, being an officer in the service of the Crown, is authorized to attest, in accordance with the provisions of the said section five hundred and forty-seven, the signatures of Natives to instruments by way of security within the meaning of the Chattels Transfer Act, 1924.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 2nd day of March, 1945.

Notifying the proposed Exchange of Crown Land in the Auckland Land District for other Land

WHEREAS by section one hundred and sixty of the Land Act, 1924, it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the Governor-General, whenever he deems it expedient in the public interest, to grant in fee-simple any area of Crown land which is subject to the provisions of the Land Act, 1924, in exchange for the fee-simple of any other land, and on any such exchange to pay or receive any sum by way of equality of exchange:

And whereas, in the opinion of the Governor-General, it is expedient to exchange the Crown land described in the First Schedule hereto for the land of equal value described in the Second Schedule hereto, and the owner of the land described in the Second Schedule has agreed to such exchange:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in exercise of the aforesaid powers and authorities, doth hereby declare it is his intention to grant in fee-simple the area of Crown land described in the First Schedule hereto in exchange for the fee-simple of the land described in the Second Schedule.


FIRST SCHEDULE

DESCRIPTION OF LAND AUTHORIZED TO BE EXCHANGED

Auckland Land District

ALL that area in the Rotorua County containing by admeasurement 24 acres and 3 roods, more or less, being Section 2, Block IV, Horohoro Survey District. As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 4/231B, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon edged red.


SECOND SCHEDULE

DESCRIPTION OF LAND TO BE OBTAINED IN EXCHANGE THEREFOR

Auckland Land District

ALL that area in the Rotorua County situated in Block IV, Horohoro Survey District, containing by admeasurement 65 acres and 25 perches, more or less, being Lot 1 on D.P. 31278, being parts of Rotohokahoka D North No. 10 and No. 2B Blocks (plans S.O. 31994, D.P. 31278). As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 4/231B, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon edged green.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 7th day of March, 1945.

As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 16/2873A, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.


SECOND SCHEDULE

DESCRIPTION OF LAND TO BE OBTAINED IN EXCHANGE THEREFOR

Wellington Land District

ALL that area in the Masterton County, containing by admeasurement 1 acre 3 roods 0·8 perches, more or less, being Lot 1, D.P. 11783, being part of Takamaitu No. 1 Block, situated in Block XII, Kopuaranga Survey District. As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 16/2873B, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered green.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 7th day of March, 1945.

Vesting the Control of a Scenic Reserve in the Riwaka Scenic Board

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by section thirteen of the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand doth hereby vest the control of the reserve described in the Schedule hereto (being land reserved under the said Act), for the period of five years from the date hereof (unless previously altered or revoked under the said Act), in the undermentioned persons, namely,—

Reynold Philip Cook,
Alexander John Drummond,
Harry Alexander Drummond,
William Albert Arnold Ryder,
Horace James Trewavas, and
Oliver Clinton Wilkinson,

who are hereby constituted for that purpose a special Board by the name of the Riwaka Scenic Board (herein referred to as “the Board”), in trust, for the preservation of scenery, and with the powers and subject to the conditions hereinafter contained, that is to say,—

  1. The first meeting of the Board shall be held on Wednesday, the sixteenth day of May, one thousand nine hundred and forty-five, at half past seven o’clock p.m., in the Oddfellows Hall, Riwaka.
  2. The members of the Board shall at their first meeting, and thereafter at the annual meeting hereinafter mentioned, elect one of themselves to be Chairman, who may join in the discussion, and shall have an original as well as a casting vote. The Chairman shall hold office until the election of his successor.
  3. Special meetings may be convened by the Chairman, provided that two days’ notice of such meeting is given to each member, specifying the business to be transacted at such special meeting; and no other business than that so specified shall be transacted at such meeting.
  4. Any four members of the Board shall form a quorum. Any meeting may be adjourned from time to time.
  5. All questions shall be determined by the majority of votes of the members of the Board present at the meeting.
  6. If at any meeting the Chairman is not present at the time appointed for holding the same, the members present shall choose one of their number to be Chairman for such meeting.
  7. If by resignation, death, incapacity, or otherwise, the seat of any member shall be or become vacant, or if any member absents himself, without reasonable cause, from three consecutive meetings of the Board, the Governor-General shall have power to appoint any other person to be a member of the Board in his stead.
  8. The Board shall prepare and submit at an annual meeting to be held in the month of April in each year a report of the proceedings of the Board for the previous year ending on the thirty-first day of March, together with a statement of the receipts and expenditure of the Board for such year. A copy of every such report and statement, certified by the Chairman to be correct, shall be sent to the Minister in Charge of Scenery Preservation as soon as possible after each annual meeting.
  9. The Board shall control the said reserve in accordance with the provisions of the said Act and of the regulations made thereunder.

SCHEDULE

RIWAKA SCENIC RESERVE.—NELSON LAND DISTRICT

SECTION 23, Block VII, Kaiteriteri Survey District: Area, 277 acres 2 roods 27 perches, more or less.

Also Section 26, Block VII, Kaiteriteri Survey District: Area, 110 acres 1 rood 25 perches, more or less.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 7th day of March, 1945.
