Constituting the Rangitikei Catchment District

ORDER IN COUNCIL
At the Government House at Wellington, this 13th day of December, 1944
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred upon him by the Soil Conservation and Rivers Control Act, 1941, and of every other power in anywise enabling him in that behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby constitute and declare the parts of New Zealand described in the Schedule hereto a catchment district under the said Act as from this thirteenth day of December, one thousand nine hundred and forty-four, and doth hereby assign to such catchment district the name of the “Rangitikei Catchment District”.
SCHEDULE
ALL those areas in the Wellington Land District comprising:—
All that portion of Wanganui County, bounded by a line commencing at a point on the sea-coast due west from the southernmost corner of Section 285, Left Bank, Wanganui River, situated in Block X, Ikitara Survey District; thence due east to the southernmost corner of Section 285 aforesaid; thence in a northerly direction generally along the eastern boundary of Section 285 aforesaid, the southern and eastern boundaries of Section 255, the southern and eastern boundaries of Section 289, the southern and eastern boundaries of Section 147, the eastern boundaries of Sections 148 and 149, the southern boundary of Section 185, and the southern and eastern boundaries of Section 186—all sections being of Left Bank, Wanganui River, to the Great North-western Road; thence along the southern side of that road to a point in line with the eastern side of a road called Warren-gate Line; thence to and along the eastern side of Warren-gate Line to the southern side of a road called No. 2 Line; thence easterly along the southern side of No. 2 Line to a point in line with the north-eastern boundary of Section 246, Left Bank, Wanganui River, situated in Block VIII, Ikitara Survey District; thence to and along the north-eastern boundary of that section, the southern and eastern boundaries of Section 232, and the eastern boundaries of Sections 234, 300, 301, 302, 303, 304, and 305, all sections of Left Bank, Wanganui River, to the north-eastern corner of the last-mentioned section, situated in Block I, Wangaehu Survey District; thence again northerly generally along the eastern boundary of Makirikiri No. 2 Block, the eastern boundaries of Subdivisions 18, 17, 16, 15, 3, 2, and 1 of Pikopiko No. 1 Block, and the northern boundary of the last-mentioned subdivision to the southernmost corner of Poronui Block, situated in Block XII, Waipakura Survey District; thence along the eastern boundary of Poronui Block, to and along the south-eastern and eastern boundaries of Te Ara te Waka No. 2 Block; thence along the south-eastern and north-eastern boundaries of Makua-o Block to Otamoa Road; thence along the eastern side of that road, to and along the eastern side of Mangahowhi Road to a point in line with the north-eastern boundary of Section 8, Block IV, Waipakura Survey District; thence to and along the north-eastern boundaries of Sections 8, 4, and 3, Block IV, Waipakura Survey District, and the production of the last-mentioned boundary across Pitangi Road; thence along the western side of Pitangi Road to the southern boundary of Tauakira 2k Block, situated in Block XVI, Tauakira Survey District; thence along the southern and eastern boundaries of Tauakira 2k Block, the southern boundaries of Tauakira 2gg and 2E Blocks, and the western boundary of Section 1A, Block XIII, Ngamatea Survey District; thence along the road forming the south-western and south-eastern boundaries of Section 1A aforesaid to the easternmost corner of that section; thence along a right line to Trigonometrical Station “Harawira”; thence along a right line to the south-eastern corner of Tauakira 2BB Block; thence along the southern boundaries of Tauakira 2BB and 2AA Blocks, the southern and western boundaries of Tauakira 2z Block, to the north-western corner of the last-mentioned block, being a point on the northern boundary of County of Wanganui, as described in New Zealand Gazette, 1926, page 2501; and thence north-easterly, easterly, southerly, south-westerly, and north-westerly generally along the boundaries of County of Wanganui aforesaid to the point of commencement.
Also all that portion of County of Wanganui, bounded by a line commencing at Trigonometrical Station “Karewarewa,” situated in Block III, Tauakira Survey District, being a point on the northern boundary of the County of Wanganui, as described in New Zealand Gazette, 1926, page 2501; thence proceeding easterly, southerly, and westerly generally along the boundary of County of Wanganui to a point on the eastern boundary of Section 1, Block VII, Tauakira Survey District, approximately 50 chains from the north-eastern corner of that section; thence in a north-westerly direction along the ridge forming the watershed to its intersection with the north-western boundary of Section 1 aforesaid; thence south-westerly along the north-western boundaries of Sections 1 and 2, Block VII, Tauakira Survey District, to Trigonometrical Station “Tawharenikau,” and thence north-easterly along a right line to the point of commencement.
All that portion of County of Waimarino, bounded by a line commencing at Trigonometrical Station “Karewarewa,” situated in Block III, Tauakira Survey District, being a point on the southern boundary of County of Waimarino, as described in New Zealand Gazette, 1930, page 2096; thence north-easterly along a right line to the south-eastern corner of Subdivision 21 of Morikau No. 2 Block, situated in Block XV, Rarete Survey District; thence northerly generally along the eastern boundaries of Subdivisions 21 and 22 of Morikau No. 2 Block to the western side of Mangoihe Road; thence along the western side of that road to and along the southern side of Pipiriki–Raetihi Road to a point in line with the eastern boundary of Section 4, Block V, Makotuku Survey District; thence to and along the eastern boundary of Section 4 aforesaid, the eastern and part of the northern boundary of Ngatipari Block, to and along the eastern boundary of Waimarino A No. 18 Block, situated in Blocks I and V, Makotuku Survey District, to Huikumu Road; thence easterly along the southern side of that road to a point in line with the eastern side of Mangae-toroa Road; thence to and along the eastern side of that road to its intersection with Ameku Road; thence south-easterly along Ameku Road to a point in line with the western boundary of Section 4, Block II, Makotuku Survey District; thence along a right line to the south-western corner of Section 4 aforesaid, along the southern and eastern boundaries of that section, to and along the eastern boundaries of Sections 5 and 7, Block II, Makotuku Survey District, to the southern side of Raetihi–Ohura Road; thence along the southern side of Raetihi–Ohura Road to a point in line with the south-eastern side of Middle Road; thence to and along the south-eastern side of that road and along the south-western side of another road forming the north-eastern boundary of Section 6, Block III, Makotuku Survey District, to a point in line with the south-eastern boundary of Section 5, Block XV, Manganui Survey District; thence to and along that boundary and along the south-eastern boundaries of Sections 6 and 7, the south-western and south-eastern boundaries of Section 12, the south-eastern boundaries of Sections 13 and 14, all of Block XV, Manganui Survey District; thence along the south-eastern boundary of Section 20, Block XVI, Manganui Survey District, across Hikuhiku Road, and along the north-western boundary of Suburban Section 1 of Horopito West Township, along the north-western and north-eastern boundaries of Section 26, Block XVI, Manganui Survey District, and the production of the last-mentioned boundary to and across the North Island Main Trunk Railway to the southernmost corner of Section 27, Block XVI, Manganui Survey District; thence along the south-eastern boundary of that section, to and across a road, and along its eastern side to the southernmost corner of Section 32, Block XVI, Manganui Survey District; thence along the south-eastern boundary of Section 32 aforesaid, to and along the north-western boundary of Urewera 2A No. 2 Block, to the Mangaturuturu Stream; thence easterly along the Mangaturuturu Stream to its intersection with the western boundary of Urewera 2A No. 1 Block; thence along the western boundary of that block, being an arc of radius four miles from Trigonometrical Station “Ruapehu,” to the south-western corner of the said block; thence along the south-eastern boundary of Urewera 2A No. 1 Block to Trigonometrical Station “Ruapehu,” being a point on the northern boundary of County of Waimarino; and thence easterly, southerly, and westerly generally along the boundary of County of Waimarino, as described in New Zealand Gazette, 1930, page 2096, to the point of commencement.
