Authorizing the Laying-off of a Road of less Width than 66 ft.

WHEREAS in the opinion of the Minister of Lands it is inexpedient, by reason of the fact that the land shown upon the plan of Town of Papanui Extension No. 32 affecting part of Rural Section No. 308, situated in Block VII, Christchurch Survey District, Canterbury Land District, is intended to be used wholly for residential purposes, that Halliwell Road shown thereon should be of the width of 66 ft. :

Now, therefore, in pursuance of the power conferred upon him by section 17, subsection (1), of the Land Act, 1924, and of every other power him thereunto enabling, the Minister of Lands doth hereby authorize the laying-off of Halliwell Road of a width of not less than 50 ft. : Provided always that it shall not be lawful for any person to erect or cause to be erected any building at a less distance than 33 ft. from the middle of such road.

Authorizing the Laying-off of Roads of less Width than 66 ft.

WHEREAS in the opinion of the Minister of Lands it is inexpedient, by reason of the fact that the land shown upon the plan of Town of Wairarapa Farm Extension No. 21 affecting Rural Sections Nos. 1101 and 2200, Canterbury Land District, is intended to be used wholly for residential purposes, that Christian and Pitcairn Streets shown thereon and the road between Sections 36 and 37 on the said plan should be of the width of 66 ft. :

Now, therefore, in pursuance of the power conferred upon him by section 17, subsection (1), of the Land Act, 1924, and of every other power him thereunto enabling, the Minister of Lands doth hereby authorize the laying-off of Christian and Pitcairn Streets of a width not less than 50 ft. and the road between Sections Nos. 36 and 37 of a width not less than 55 ft. : Provided always that it shall not be lawful for any person to erect or cause to be erected any building at a less distance than 33 ft. from the middle of such roads.

Declaring Area to be a Closely Populated Locality for the Purposes of the Motor-vehicles Amendment Act, 1936, Section 3

IN terms of section 3 of the Motor-vehicles Amendment Act, 1936, the Minister of Transport doth hereby declare the area described in the Schedule hereto to be a closely populated locality for the purposes of the said section, to the intent that a person driving any motor-vehicle on any road, street, or other place to which the public have access therein shall be subject to the maximum speed limit of thirty miles an hour fixed by the said section.

SCHEDULE

SITUATED within the Hawke’s Bay County—

All that area at Westshore consisting of that portion of the Gisborne-Napier via Hangaroa State Highway commencing at a point opposite the north-western boundary of Section 190, Westshore Extension No. 11, and terminating at a point 3 chains measured along the centre of the road generally in a south-easterly direction from the intersection of the centre-line of the said State highway with the centre-line of the Gisborne-Napier Railway near Meeanee Quay, Westshore, a distance of approximately 67 chains.

Exemption Order under the Transport Legislation Emergency Regulations 1940

PURSUANT to the Transport Legislation Emergency Regulations 1940, the Minister of Transport doth hereby order and declare that the provisions of clause (1) of Regulation 7 of the Motor-drivers Regulations 1940, so far as they relate to the driving of heavy trade motors, shall not apply to the persons hereinafter mentioned, but in lieu thereof the following provision shall apply:—

A motor-driver’s license issued under the Motor-drivers Regulations 1940 to the persons described in Column 1 of the Schedule hereunder may authorize them to drive a heavy trade motor for the purpose of the business of the respective employer described in Column 2 of the said Schedule, but shall not authorize them, while they are under the age of eighteen years, to drive a heavy trade motor for any other purpose.

The Traffic Regulations 1936.—Appliances for Motor-vehicles approved

IN terms of Regulation 10 of the Traffic Regulations 1936, the Minister of Transport hereby approves of the appliances described in the Schedule hereto for use on or in connection with a motor-vehicle provided that and so long as the said appliances are identical in design, construction, make, and effect with the samples thereof deposited in the office of the Transport Department, Wellington.

Notice of Mariners No. 20 of 1944

NEW ZEALAND.—SOUTH ISLAND.—EAST COAST

Information concerning Timaru Harbour

  1. Previous Notice: No. 50 of 1940 hereby cancelled.
    Position: Harbour Light. Lat., 44° 23′.7 S.; long., 171° 15′.2 E. (approx.).
    Abridged Description: Fl. G. 2 sec. 20 ft. 2 M.
    Details: A four-pile beacon with small white tower exhibiting a flashing green light every 2 sec., flash 0·3 sec., has been established in a position 040½°, 2,800 ft. from the above light. Elevation, 20 ft. Visibility, two miles.

  2. New Mole constructed.—The new mole starts from a position 018° 26′ 1,410 ft. from the Harbour light, and trends 023½° for 1,510 ft., thence 127° 50′ for 850 ft. The old mole enclosed by the new mole has been removed, and dredging is in progress.

  3. Alterations to Benvenue Leading Lights at North End of Caroline Bay.—The visibility of these fixed red lights has been increased to seven miles, and they are now exhibited at elevations of 60 and 95 ft. from white triangular-shaped beacons 14 ft. high. The rear beacon has been erected 117 ft. seaward of the old position of the light and is now 915 ft. from the front beacon.

  4. Directions for Entering.—By Day: Ships should approach with Benvenue leading beacons in line (267½°) until East Mole Beacon is in line with lighthouse, then alter course for the middle of the Inner Harbour entrance between East Mole Beacon and the beacon off North Mole and continue until inside. By Night: Ships should approach with Benvenue leading lights (fixed red) in line until East Mole Light (fixed red) is in line with the harbour light (fixed red), then alter course for Inner Harbour entrance between East Mole Light and the flashing green light on the beacon off North Mole and continue until inside.

Caution.—Ships after altering course for the Inner Harbour should not get northward of the line of No. 3 wharf by day (wharf lights by night), as this line marks the extreme northern boundary of the dredged channel.

  1. Temporary Buoy.—An unlighted black buoy is moored in position 292½° 460 ft. from East Mole Light to mark the present northern limit of the dredged swinging area, and will be removed when the remainder of the area of the old North Mole is dredged.
