CROWN LANDS NOTICES
Land in the Nelson Land District forfeited
Department of Lands and Survey, Wellington, 7th November, 1944.
NOTICE is hereby given that the lease of the undermentioned land having been declared forfeit by resolution of the Nelson Land Board, the said land has thereby reverted to the Crown under the provisions of the Land Act, 1924.

Settlement Land in Wellington Land District for Selection on Renewable Lease
District Lands and Survey Office,
Wellington, 7th November, 1944.
NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned section is open for selection on renewable lease under the Land for Settlements Act, 1925, and the Land Act, 1924; and applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Wellington, up to noon on Tuesday, 12th December, 1944.
Applicants should appear personally for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office, Wellington, on Wednesday, 13th December, 1944, at 10 o’clock a.m., but if any applicant is unable to attend he may be examined by any other Land Board or by any Commissioner of Crown Lands. Applicants are required to produce documentary evidence of their financial position and farming experience.
The ballot will be held immediately upon conclusion of the examination of applicants, and the successful applicant is required to pay immediately at conclusion of ballot a deposit comprising the first half-year’s rent, broken-period rent, lease fee, and deposit in reduction of weighting for improvements.
SCHEDULE
WELLINGTON LAND DISTRICT.—SETTLEMENT LAND
Wanganui and Rangitikei Counties.—Haunui No. 1 Settlement.—Block IX, Wangaehu Survey District, and Block XII, Ikitara Survey District
PART Section 1: Area, 152 acres 0 roods 15·7 perches. Capital value, £700; half-yearly rent, £19.*
- After payment of first half-year’s rent a remission of 50 per cent. of the rental charges for the next year will be allowed provided improvements equal in value to twice the amount of such remission are effected to the satisfaction of the Land Board.
Weighted with £590 for improvements, comprising cottage, cow-shed, sheep-yards, artesian well and pipes, clearing, grassing, and subdivisional and boundary fencing. The cottage, which is of wood and iron, comprises three rooms, has an open fireplace, electric light, two heating points, and a small electric range. Water-supply, 600-gallon tank with inside tap. Iron cow-shed with open front. Both buildings are in good condition.
This sum is payable in cash, or, after payment of a deposit of £40, the balance may be repaid over a period of 25½ years by half-yearly instalments of £19 5s., principal and interest combined.
This section is situated on the Ruatangata Road, four miles and a half from the Rural Delivery Post-office and the same distance from the Wangaehu School and Dairy Factory; it is sixteen miles from the Wanganui Saleyards; access by metalled road from Wangaehu. The soil is good quality, watered by stream and artesian well. Undulating to hilly country with good flat tops to ridges and good area of flat along road frontage. About one-third of the area is clear, the balance is infested with gorse. This section is regarded as uneconomic, but could be worked with advantage by an adjoining or neighbouring settler.

Land in the Canterbury Land District for Selection on Optional Tenure
District Lands and Survey Office,
Christchurch, 7th November, 1944.
NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned section is open for selection on optional tenure under the Land Act, 1924, and applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Christchurch, up to 4 o’clock p.m. on Monday, 11th December, 1944.
Applicants should appear personally for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office, Christchurch, on Tuesday, 12th December, 1944, at 10.30 o’clock a.m., but if any applicant is unable to attend he may be examined by any other Land Board or by any Commissioner of Crown Lands. Applicants are required to produce documentary evidence of their financial position.

Weighted with £362 for improvements, comprising wooden house, washhouse, well, windmill, tank and stand, and fencing.
This sum is payable in cash, or, after payment of a deposit of £62, the balance may be repaid over a twenty-year period, with half-yearly instalments of principal and interest amounting to £11 19s.
This property lies on the Main South Road, handy to Glenavy Township, and is suitable as a worker’s home.

LAND TRANSFER ACT NOTICES
EVIDENCE having been lodged with me of the loss of outstanding copy of Memorandum of Lease No. 6134, affecting Lot 13 on D.P. 11965, being part of the land in certificate of title, Vol. 90, folio 11 (Gisborne Registry), whereof the OPOTIKI MECHANICS’ INSTITUTE is the lessor and JOSEPH ROSS, of Opotiki, Butcher, is the lessee, and application having been made to register a surrender of the said lease without production of the outstanding copy thereof in terms of section 40 of the Land Transfer Act, 1915, notice is hereby given of my intention to register such surrender after the expiration of fourteen days from the 9th November, 1944.
