In accordance with the provisions of subsection (1) of section 53 of the Fire Brigades Act, 1926, it is hereby notified that the first meeting of the Board will be held in the Carterton Borough Council Chambers at 8 o’clock p.m. on Wednesday, the 25th day of October, 1944.

Appointment of Officers for the Purposes of the Fisheries Act, 1908

BY direction of the Hon. Minister of Marine, it is hereby notified that His Excellency the Governor-General has, in pursuance of the provisions of the Fisheries Act, 1908, and of the Official Appointments and Documents Act, 1919, appointed—

Henry Ernest Hollinshead, of Rawene,

to be an Inspector of Sea-fishing for the purposes of Part I of the first-mentioned Act.

Gordon Leonard Beer, of Waipukurau,
John Girvan Mulvey, of Waipawa,
Albert Austin Hutt, of Ongaonga, and
Ian Langdon Prime, of Napier,

to be officers for the purposes of Part II of the first-mentioned Act in respect of the Hawke’s Bay Acclimatization District.

to be officers for the purposes of Part II of the first-mentioned Act in respect of the South Canterbury Acclimatization District.

to be an officer for the purposes of Part II of the first-mentioned Act in respect of the Grey District Acclimatization District.

Armistice Day, 1944

Prime Minister’s Office,
Wellington, 7th October, 1944.

CITIZENS and traffic-control authorities throughout New Zealand are requested to observe the practice adopted in this Dominion on former similar occasions of two minutes’ silence from 11 a.m., and the suspension of all vehicular traffic during that period, on 11th November next.

When a service is held it is suggested that it should be at the local cenotaph or war memorial, as the case may be.

Notice respecting Proposed Constitution of Borough of Mount Maunganui

Department of Internal Affairs,
Wellington, 13th October, 1944.

IT is hereby notified that a petition has been presented to His Excellency the Governor-General, under the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, praying that the area described in the Schedule hereto may be constituted as the Borough of Mount Maunganui.

All persons affected are hereby called upon to lodge any written objections to or petitions against the proposed constitution of such borough which they desire to lodge within one month from the first publication of this notice, such objections or petitions to be addressed to the Minister of Internal Affairs, Wellington.

SCHEDULE

AREA PROPOSED TO BE CONSTITUTED AS THE BOROUGH OF MOUNT MAUNGANUI

ALL that area in the Auckland Land District, situated in Blocks VI and VII, Tauranga Survey District, commencing at a point where the road forming the southern boundary of Te Awa-o-Tururako No. 2 Block meets the Tauranga Harbour; thence easterly along the northern side of the aforesaid road and its production across a public road to Whareroa No. 2½ Block; thence along the north-western boundary of the last-mentioned block to the Mount Maunganui Branch line of the East Coast Main Trunk Railway; thence by a right line across the aforesaid railway and public road to the southernmost corner of Lot 35 on plan 6922, deposited in the office of the District Land Registrar at Auckland; thence along the road forming the south-eastern boundaries of Lots 35 and 67 on plan 6922 aforesaid, across a public road, and along the road forming the south-eastern and south-western boundaries of Lot 84 on plan 6922 aforesaid, and the production of the last-mentioned boundary across a public road to Omanu No. 2B No. 3 Block; thence along the western boundary of the last-mentioned block to the sea; thence north-westerly generally along the coast-line of the Bay of Plenty and south-easterly generally along the coast-line of the Tauranga Harbour to the point of commencement.

IT is hereby notified that a petition has been presented to His Excellency the Governor-General, under the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, praying that the area described in the Schedule hereto may be excluded from the County of Heathcote and included in the City of Christchurch.

All persons affected are hereby called upon to lodge any written objections to or petitions against the proposed alteration of boundaries which they desire to lodge within one month from the first publication of this notice, such objections or petitions to be addressed to the Minister of Internal Affairs, Wellington.
