SPECIAL NOTICE
To (A) Bond-issuing Companies.
(B) Companies incorporated by the Bondholders' Incorporation Commission.
NOTICE is given that it is intended to reconstitute the abovementioned Commission to deal with an application under section 22 of the above-mentioned Act.

This notice is given for the benefit of directors and bondholders of companies in Class (A) above and of directors and shareholders of companies in Class (B) above.
Any company, bondholder, or shareholder desiring to make any application to the Commission now or in the near future is invited to communicate that fact promptly to the undersigned.

Price Order No. 280 (Ship Repair and Maintenance Charges)
PURSUANT to the powers conferred on it by the Control of Prices Emergency Regulations 1939,* the Price Tribunal, acting with the authority of the Minister of Industries and Commerce, doth hereby make the following Price Order:

PRELIMINARY

  1. This Order may be cited as Price Order No. 280, and shall come into force on the 2nd day of October, 1944.

APPLICATION OF THIS ORDER
2. (1) This Order applies only with respect to work carried out under the control or supervision of the Shipbuilding Division of the Marine Department on or in respect of ships in New Zealand. (2) Subject to the provisions of the last preceding subclause, this Order applies to all ship repair and maintenance work that is carried out after the commencement of this Order (whether or not the work was begun before the commencement of this Order).

FIXING MAXIMUM CHARGES FOR SHIP REPAIR AND MAINTENANCE WORK TO WHICH THIS ORDER APPLIES
3. (1) The maximum charge that may be made or received by any contractor for any work to which this Order applies shall be the sum of the several amounts computed in accordance with the following provisions of this clause, namely:--
(a) In respect of the services of workmen (other than foremen, apprentices, and boy labourers) the maximum charge shall be the sum of the following amounts:--
(i) In respect of workmen: An amount equal to wages computed at the appropriate award rates, increased by 7½ per cent. thereof to cover wages paid in excess of award rates:
(ii) An amount equal to 8 per cent. of the amount calculated in accordance with subparagraph (i) hereof, to cover holiday pay:
(iii) An amount equal to such percentage of the sum of the amounts calculated in accordance with subparagraphs (i) and (ii) hereof as has been or may be duly approved by the Tribunal as permissible overhead costs. Any approval given for the purposes of this subparagraph may be of general application or may be limited in its application in accordance with the terms thereof:
(iv) An amount equal to 10 per cent. of the sum of the amounts calculated in accordance with subparagraphs (i), (ii), and (iii) hereof: (b) In respect of the services of foremen, the maximum charge shall be 8s. 3d. per hour: (c) In respect of the services of apprentices, the maximum charge shall be 2s. 10d. per hour: (d) In respect of the services of boy labourers, the maximum charge shall be 3s. 3d. per hour: (e) In respect of materials used in the work, the maximum charge shall be-- Per Pound. (iv) For cartage by master carriers ... The actual cost, plus 10 per cent. thereof.
(v) For ocean or marine freight ... The actual freight charge paid, plus 10 per cent. thereof.
(vi) For insurance on goods that after manufacture are despatched by sea The actual premium paid, plus 2½ per cent. thereof.
(vii) For meal-money, dirt-money, welding-money, or similar disbursement ... The actual cost, plus 10 per cent. thereof.
