Land in Canterbury Land District forfeited

Department of Lands and Survey, Wellington, 28th August, 1944.

NOTICE is hereby given that the lease of the undermentioned land having been declared forfeit by resolution of the Canterbury Land Board, the said land has thereby reverted to the Crown under the provisions of the Land Act, 1924, and the Land for Settlements Act, 1925.

Land in North Auckland Land District for Selection on Optional Tenures

North Auckland District Lands and Survey Office,
Auckland, 30th August, 1944.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned section is open for selection on optional tenures under the Land Act, 1924; and applications will be received at the North Auckland District Lands and Survey Office, Auckland, up to 4 o’clock p.m. on Monday, 18th September, 1944.

Applicants should appear personally for examination at the North Auckland District Lands and Survey Office, Auckland, on Wednesday, 20th September, 1944, at 10 o’clock a.m., but if any applicant is unable to attend he may be examined by any other Land Board or by any Commissioner of Crown Lands. Applicants are required to produce documentary evidence of their farming experience and financial position.

The ballot will be held immediately upon conclusion of the examination of applicants, and the successful applicant is required to pay immediately at conclusion of ballot a deposit comprising the first half-year’s rent, broken-period rent, lease fee, and weighting for improvements.

SCHEDULE

NORTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.—FIRST-CLASS LAND

Waitemata County.—Waipareira Parish

ALLOTMENTS 236 and 237: Area, 19 acres 3 roods 1 perch. Capital value, £200. Deposit on deferred payments, £10. Half-yearly instalment on deferred payments (term: twenty years), £7 17s. 11d. Renewable lease: half-yearly rent, £4.

Weighted with £27 10s. (payable in cash) for improvements, comprising 15 acres clearing and grassing (rough feed) and half-share in 10 chains of boundary-fencing.

This section is situated about two miles from Swanson Railway-station, access being by formed and metalled road. It comprises undulating to hilly land all more or less ploughable, and at present is partly in scrub with a little light bush. The soil is clay, poorly watered by swampy streams.

Hutt County.—Block XIV, Akatarawa Survey District

SECTION 12, Block III, Town of Birchville Extension No. 4: Area, 1 rood 7·25 perches. Capital value, £65; half-yearly rent, £1 12s. 6d.

This section is situated fronting the Akatarawa Road, about two miles and a half from Upper Hutt and half a mile from the main highway. It rises from a gentle slope to a fairly steep face, covered with gorse and broom, and is suitable for a week-end cottage.

Akito County.—Town of Pongaroa

SECTION 10, Block VIII: Area, 1 rood. Capital value, £50; half-yearly rent, £1 5s.

Weighted with £305 (payable in cash) for improvements, comprising felling, grassing, stumping, 3 chains of fencing, garage, and store shed.

This property is situated half a mile from the Pongaroa Post-office, one-quarter of a mile from the Pongaroa School, and thirty-two miles from Pahiatua Railway-station. The section is elevated on its frontage to Tui Street and falls away sharply to low-lying swampy ground at the back. It requires considerable filling to provide a good building-site. The access is by good metalled road from either Masterton or Pahiatua.

Land in Wellington Land District for Selection on Optional Tenures

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned section is open for selection on optional tenures under the Land Act, 1924; and applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Wellington, up to 4 o’clock p.m. on Monday, 25th September, 1944.

Applicants should appear personally for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office, State Fire Building, Wellington, on Wednesday, 27th September, 1944, at 10.30 o’clock a.m., but if any applicant is unable to attend he may be examined by any other Land Board or by any Commissioner of Crown Lands. Applicants are required to produce evidence of their financial position and farming experience.

The ballot will be held immediately upon conclusion of the examination of applicants, and the successful applicant is required to pay immediately at conclusion of ballot a deposit comprising the first half-year’s rent, broken-period rent, lease fee, and weighting for improvements.

SCHEDULE

WELLINGTON LAND DISTRICT.—SECOND-CLASS LAND

Kaitieke County.—Hunua Survey District

SECTION 23, Block X: Area, 119 acres 1 rood 24 perches. Improvement loading, £571. Capital value, £140. Deposit on deferred payments, £10. Half-yearly instalment on deferred payments, £4 4s. 6d. Renewable lease: half-yearly rent, £2 16s.

Weighted with £571 for improvements, comprising felling, grassing, stumping, fencing, house, cow-shed, two sheds, and garage. This sum is payable in cash, or, after payment of a deposit of £71, the balance may be paid over a period of twenty years by half-yearly instalments of £19 12s. 6d., principal and interest combined.

This property is situated one mile and a half from the Owhango Post-office and School and two miles and a half from the Owhango Railway-station. The section lies just off the Taumarunui–Bulls Main Highway, and consists of about 40 acres of ploughable land; balance is steep to broken hill country with a south-easterly aspect. The land is well watered by a stream and springs, and is suitable only for use in conjunction with an adjoining property.

Weighted with £4 10s. (payable in cash) for improvements, comprising felling, grassing, and 12 chains of fencing.

This section is situated one mile and a quarter from the Raetihi Railway-station and three-quarters of a mile from the Raetihi Post-office and School, access being by metalled road. Approximately one-quarter of an acre is waste land, balance good building-site in poor locality. The section is not watered.
