Given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, and issued under the Seal of that Dominion, this 19th day of August, 1944.

Proclaiming a Road-line laid out through Ahikouka 1c Block, Block IX, Waiapu Survey District, Gisborne Land District, to be a Public Road

A PROCLAMATION

WHEREAS the land described in the Schedule hereto was, by an order of the Native Land Court made on the eleventh day of April, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-seven, duly laid out as a road-line in pursuance of section seven of the Native Land Amendment and Native Land Claims Adjustment Act, 1923 :

And whereas the said court is of the opinion that it is in the public interest that the said road-line should be proclaimed as a public road, and a notification to that effect has been forwarded to the Minister of Lands in terms of section four hundred and eighty-six of the Native Land Act, 1931 :

And whereas one month’s notice in writing of the intention to proclaim the said road-line as a public road has been given by the Surveyor-General to the local authority of the district concerned in terms of subsection two of section four hundred and eighty-seven of the Native Land Act, 1931 :

And whereas it is now expedient that the said road-line should be proclaimed as a public road :

Now, therefore, I, Cyril Louis Norton Newall, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by section four hundred and eighty-seven of the Native Land Act, 1931, do hereby proclaim as a public road the road-line described in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE

APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land proclaimed as a road : 6 acres 3 roods 9·7 perches.

Being portion of Ahikouka 1c Block.

Situated in Block IX, Waiapu Survey District. (S.O. plan 4289.)

In the Gisborne Land District; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 16/2913, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, under No. 2930, and thereon coloured orange.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, and issued under the Seal of that Dominion, this 19th day of August, 1944.

Road traversing Native Land proclaimed as a Public Road in Blocks XI and XIV, Nukumaru Survey District, Wellington Land District

A PROCLAMATION

WHEREAS the road described in the Schedule hereto traverses Native land and has been used by the public as a public road, and has been formed, improved, and maintained out of public funds :

And whereas the Native Land Court, by an order made on the eleventh day of February, one thousand nine hundred and forty-three, and issued pursuant to section four hundred and eighty-four of the Native Land Act, 1931, ordered and declared the said road to be a public road :

And whereas the said Court is of the opinion that it is in the public interest that the said road should be proclaimed as a public road, and a notification to that effect has been forwarded to the Minister of Lands in terms of section four hundred and eighty-six of the Native Land Act, 1931 :

And whereas it is now expedient that the said road should be proclaimed as a public road :

Amending the Foreshore License vesting the Management of certain Wharves in the Akaroa Borough Council

ORDER IN COUNCIL

At the Government House at Wellington, this 16th day of August, 1944

Present :

His Excellency the Governor-General in Council

PURSUANT to the Harbours Act, 1923, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, doth hereby amend the Order in Council dated the twenty-second day of December, one thousand nine hundred and forty-one, and published in the Gazette of the eighth day of the following month at page 10, vesting the management of certain wharves in the Akaroa Borough Council, by revoking clause one in the First Schedule to the hereinbefore-recited Order in Council and substituting the following clause :—

“ 1. The vesting of the management of the wharves is subject to the Foreshore License Regulations 1940, with the exception of clause 21 of the said regulations, which for the purpose of this Order in Council is hereby excluded, and the provisions of the said regulations shall, so far as applicable, apply hereto.”

Revoking a License held by Robert John Ellis, of Woodstock, Labourer, authorizing the Use of Water for the Purpose of generating Electricity and the erection of certain Electric Lines

At the Government House at Wellington, this 23rd day of August, 1944

Present :

His Excellency the Governor-General in Council

PURSUANT to the Public Works Act, 1928, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby revoke the Order in Council dated the thirty-first day of July, one thousand nine hundred and forty, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 82 of the eighth day of August, one thousand nine hundred and forty, authorizing Robert John Ellis, of Woodstock, Labourer, to use water for the purpose of generating electricity and to erect certain electric lines.

Extending the Open Season for the taking or killing of Opossums, Otago Acclimatization District

At the Government House at Wellington, this 16th day of August, 1944

Present :

His Excellency the Governor-General in Council

IN pursuance of the powers conferred on him by the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921–22, and of all other powers and authorities enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, doth hereby amend the Order in Council made under the said Act, dated the eighth day of March, one thousand nine hundred and forty-four, and appearing in the New Zealand Gazette number nineteen of the ninth idem, at page 237, by deleting the words “ 1st September ” appearing under the heading “ Otago Acclimatization District ” in the Schedule to such Order in Council, and contained in Condition Number One under the said heading, and by inserting in lieu thereof the words “ 16th September ” :

And all licenses issued to take or kill opossums in the Otago Acclimatization District under the authority of the said Order in Council are hereby extended until noon on the said sixteenth day of September, one thousand nine hundred and forty-four.
