“Upper Awatere Riding.—Commencing at the confluence of
the Acheron and Clarence Rivers; thence north-east generally by
the north-west boundary of the Awatere County, as described in the
First Schedule of the Awatere County Act, 1911, to the Lower
Awatere Riding as hereinbefore described; thence westerly and
southerly generally by that riding to the Flaxbourne Riding;
thence westerly and southerly generally by the aforesaid Flaxbourne
Riding to the southern boundary of the Awatere County; thence
westerly by the southern boundary of that county, as described in
Gazette of 27th February, 1941, at page 354, and Gazette of 19th
September, 1940, at page 2353, to the place of commencement.

“The said Awatere County Council shall consist of six members,
who shall be elected as follows: The electors of Flaxbourne Riding,
the Lower Awatere Riding, and the Upper Awatere Riding shall
each elect two councillors. The number of members of the said
Council as above stated shall take effect at the general election of
councillors due to be held in the month of May, 1944, so far and to such an extent as may be necessary for preparing any roll,
or otherwise providing for such election.”

Transmitting and Receiving Officers for the Service of Notices by
Telegraph

IN pursuance of the powers vested in the Minister of Telegraphs
by the Post and Telegraph Act, 1928 (hereinafter termed “the
said Act”), and by the regulations made on the 12th May, 1914,
and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 21st May, 1914, the
following officers, at the addresses set against their names, are hereby
appointed transmitting and receiving officers for the purpose of
dealing with all notices by telegraph sent under the said Act or
regulations, and of signing such certificates in relation to the service
of any such notices as are required or authorized to be signed or given
under the said Act or the regulations aforesaid:—

Authorizing the Laying-off of Roads of less Width than 66 ft.

WHEREAS in the opinion of the Minister of Lands it is inex-
pedient, by reason of the fact that the land shown upon the
plan of Town of Willsher Extension No. 3, affecting Section 2 of 16,
Block VII, South Molyneux Survey District, Otago Land District,
is intended to be used wholly for residential purposes, that Poole
Street shown thereon should be of the width of 66 ft.:

Now, therefore, in pursuance of the power conferred upon him
by section 17, subsection (1), of the Land Act, 1924, and of every
other power him thereunto enabling, the Minister of Lands doth
hereby authorize the laying-off of Poole Street of a width of not less
than 50 ft.: Provided always that it shall not be lawful for any
person to erect or cause to be erected any building at a less distance
than 33 ft. from the middle of such street.

Given under the hand of the Minister of Lands, this 25th day of
January, 1944.

Poukawa Drainage Area.—Penalty on Overdue Rates

Department of Lands and Survey,
Wellington, 7th February, 1944.

IN pursuance of section 76 of the Rating Act, 1925, and
the Swamp Drainage Act, 1915, and its amendments,
the ratepayers within the Poukawa Drainage Rating Area
are hereby notified that 10 per cent. additional will be
added to all rates for the year ending 31st March, 1944,
unpaid on the 14th March, 1944.

Rates may be paid to the Collector of Rates, Lands
and Survey Department, P.O. Box 2205, Auckland C.1, or
at any money-order office.
