P URSUANT to the provisions of subsection three of section seventeen of the Servicemen's Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, doth hereby appoint Llewellyn Bowden Freeman, Esquire, of Christchurch, Solicitor, to be the deputy on the Christchurch Urban Land Sales Committee of Kendrick Gee Archer, Esquire, the Chairman of that Committee.

Regulations under the Naval Defence Act, 1913, amended

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on him by section twenty-five of the Naval Defence Act, 1913, and of all other powers and authorities enabling him in that behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General, with the advice of the Executive Council, doth hereby amend and supplement the regulations referred to in the Schedule hereto as shown therein.
SCHEDULE
Regulations for the Government and Payment of the Royal New Zealand Navy, 1939 ARTICLE 311, paragraph 4 : Cancel and substitute:-
“ 4. Remittances payable in New Zealand may be made, but should generally be confined to official mess and canteen accounts, of such amounts as cannot conveniently be settled by other means. The facilities provided by the Post Office should be utilized for the payment of private and small mess accounts. When, however, a ship is absent from New Zealand waters, private remittances exceeding £5 in amount will be allowed.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on him by section twenty-five of the Naval Defence Act, 1913, and of all other powers and authorities enabling him in that behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General, with the advice of the Executive Council, doth hereby amend and supplement the regulations referred to in the Schedule hereto as shown therein.
SCHEDULE
Regulations for the Government and Payment of the Royal New Zealand Navy, 1939 ARTICLE 289, paragraph 4 : Cancel and substitute:-
“ 4. Officers necessarily required to perform rail journeys by night on duty may be allowed the use of a sleeping-berth on trains at the lowest rate. Sleeping berths on trains may be requisitioned on form R.N.Z.N.-31. Administrative details in connection with the the use of this form are promulgated in Navy Orders.”

Vesting the Control of a Scenic Reserve in the Peninsula County Council

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by section thirteen of the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908 (hereinafter referred to as “the said Act”), His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand doth hereby vest the control of the scenic reserve described in the Schedule hereto (being land reserved under the said Act) in the Peninsula County Council, subject to the conditions hereinafter contained, that is to say :-
- The period for which the control of the reserve is hereby vested shall be five years from the date hereof, unless the reservation is previously altered or revoked under the said Act.
- The said Council shall prepare a report each year ending on the thirty-first day of March, together with a statement of receipts and expenditure in connection with the said reserve. Such report
and statement shall be sent to the Minister charged with the administration of the said Act as soon as possible after the close of the year. - The said Council shall control the said reserve in accordance with the provisions of the said Act and of the regulations made thereunder.
SCHEDULE
TITEREMOANA SCENIC RESERVE.—OTAGO LAND DISTRICT
ALL that area containing by admeasurement 2 acres, more or less, being an island in Otago Harbour lying between Edward's and Latham Bays and formerly known as Pudding Island. As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 484, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 19th day of May, 1944.

Vesting the Control of a Scenic Reserve in the Invercargill City Council

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by section thirteen of the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908 (hereunder referred to as "the said Act"), His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand doth hereby vest the control of the scenic reserve described in the Schedule hereto (being land reserved under the said Act) in the Invercargill City Council, subject to the conditions hereinafter contained, that is to say :-
- The period for which the control of the reserve is hereby vested shall be ten years from the date hereof, unless the reservation is previously altered or revoked under the said Act.
- The said Council shall prepare a report each year ending on the thirty-first day of March, together with a statement of receipts and expenditure in connection with the said reserve. Such report and statement shall be sent to the Minister charged with the administration of the said Act as soon as possible after the close of the year.
- The said Council shall control the said reserve in accordance with the provisions of the said Act and of the regulations made thereunder.
SCHEDULE
WAIHOPAI RIVER SCENIC RESERVE.-SOUTHLAND LAND DISTRICT
ALL that area containing by admeasurement 17 acres 1 rood, more or less, being part of Section 11, Block IV, Invercargill Hundred. Bounded towards the north-east by other part of Section 11, Block IV, Invercargill Hundred, 1141.8 links ; towards the east by Elles Road, 425 links; towards the south and again towards the east generally by a public road along the bank of the Waihopai River, 4830 links; and towards the west by other part of said Section 11, 2861.7 links.
Also all that area containing by admeasurement 12 acres 2 roods 20 perches, more or less, being part of Section 10, Block IV, Invercargill Hundred. Bounded towards the north-east by other part of Section 10, Block IV, Invercargill Hundred, 2277.6 links; towards the east by Section 9 of said block, 675 links; towards the south generally by the Waihopai River, 2850 links; and towards the west by Elles Road, 520 links.
Be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. As the same are delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 4/991, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 19th day of May, 1944.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by section thirteen of the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand doth hereby vest the control of the reserves described in the Schedule hereto (being land reserved under the said Act), for the period of five years from the date hereof (unless previously altered or revoked under the said Act), in the undermentioned persons, namely :-
