Revoking Part of a Proclamation defining the Middle-line of a Road
in Blocks V and VI, Paekakariki Survey District—viz., Portion
of the Plimmerton-Paekakariki Road

A PROCLAMATION
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested
in me by the Public Works Act, 1928, and of every other
power and authority in anywise enabling me in this behalf, I, Cyril
Louis Norton Newall, the Governor-General of the Dominion of
New Zealand, do hereby revoke the Proclamation dated the sixteenth
day of June, one thousand nine hundred and thirty-seven, and
published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 42 of the seventeenth
day of the same month at page 1459, and deposited in the Land
Registry Office at Wellington as No. 2568, defining the middle-
line of a road in Blocks V and VI, Paekakariki Survey District—
viz., portion of the Plimmerton-Paekakariki Road—in so far as it
affects Lot 32, D.P. 6670, being the land comprised and described
in Certificate of Title, Volume 438, folio 29 (Wellington Registry).
Given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General
of the Dominion of New Zealand, and issued under the
Seal of that Dominion, this 25th day of January, 1944.

Variation of Order in Council exempting certain Native Lands from
Rates

ORDER IN COUNCIL
At the Government House at Wellington, this 19th day of January,
1944
Present:
His Excellency the Governor-General in Council
PURSUANT to subsection three of section one hundred and four
of the Rating Act, 1925, His Excellency the Governor-General,
acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council,
doth hereby vary the Order in Council made on the ninth day of
June, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-eight, and published
in the Gazette on the twenty-first day of June, one thousand nine
hundred and twenty-eight, at page 2050, and affecting Lot 39A 1,
Parish of Matata, and other blocks, by excluding therefrom the land
described in the Schedule hereto.

Land temporarily reserved in the Westland Land District for Recreation
Purposes

WHEREAS by the three-hundred-and-fifty-ninth section of the
Land Act, 1924, it is enacted that the Governor-General
may from time to time set apart temporarily as reserves, notwith-
standing that the same may be then held under pastoral license, any
Crown lands which in his opinion are required for any of the purposes
in the said section mentioned :
Now, therefore, I, Cyril Louis Norton Newall, the Governor-
General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise
of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the said Act, do
hereby temporarily reserve from sale the land in the Westland Land
District described in the Schedule hereunder written for recreation
purposes.
SCHEDULE
WESTLAND LAND DISTRICT
RESERVE 1835, Block VII, Mawheranui Survey District: Area,
3 acres 3 roods 28 perches, more or less.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General,
this 21st day of January, 1944.

Honorary Inspector of Scenic Reserves appointed

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by section
four of the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908, I, Cyril Louis
Norton Newall, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New
Zealand, do hereby appoint
Leslie Noel Lee
to be an Honorary Inspector under the said Act.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General,
this 20th day of January, 1944.

His Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to
approve the transfer of the following New Zealand officers
from the Royal Navy to the Royal New Zealand Navy:—
Temporary Lieutenant (Temporary Acting Lieutenant-Com-
mander) Norman Goodlet Daysh, R.N.V.R., transferred to Royal
New Zealand Naval Volunteer Reserve as from date of entry in
the rank of Temporary Lieutenant, with seniority of 10th April,
1940, and reappointed, to date 10th April, 1940 (to continue to serve
in the acting rank of Temporary Lieutenant-Commander whilst
holding present appointment).
Temporary Lieutenant (Temporary Acting Lieutenant-Com-
mander) Harold James Couldrey George, R.N.V.R., transferred to
Royal New Zealand Naval Volunteer Reserve as from date of entry
in the rank of Temporary Lieutenant, with seniority of 22nd June,
1940, and reappointed, to date 22nd June, 1940 (to continue to serve
in the acting rank of Temporary Lieutenant-Commander whilst
holding present appointment).
Temporary Lieutenant Reginald Rutter Russell, R.N.R.,
transferred to Royal New Zealand Naval Reserve as from date of
entry in the rank of Temporary Lieutenant, with seniority of 27th
January, 1941, and reappointed, to date 27th January, 1941.
Temporary Lieutenant William Herbert Stallard, R.N.V.R.,
transferred to Royal New Zealand Naval Volunteer Reserve as from
date of entry in the rank of Temporary Lieutenant, with seniority
of 18th October, 1942, and reappointed, to date 13th March, 1941.
Temporary Sub-Lieutenant Dean John Eyre, R.N.V.R.,
transferred to Royal New Zealand Naval Volunteer Reserve as from
date of entry in the rank of Temporary Sub-Lieutenant, with
seniority of 4th April, 1942, and reappointed, to date 4th April, 1942.
Temporary Acting Sub-Lieutenant Ralph Harwood McLeod,
R.N.V.R., transferred to Royal New Zealand Naval Volunteer
Reserve as from date of entry in the rank of Temporary Acting
Sub-Lieutenant, with seniority of 3rd September, 1943, and
reappointed, to date 3rd September, 1943.
Temporary Lieutenant (A) the late Peter Thurston Medhurst,
R.N.V.R., transferred to Royal New Zealand Naval Volunteer
Reserve as from date of entry in the rank of Temporary Lieutenant
(A), with seniority of 30th December, 1941, and reappointed, to
date 24th February, 1940.
Probationary Temporary Lieutenant (A) Allen Craig Williams,
R.N.V.R., transferred to Royal New Zealand Naval Volunteer
Reserve as from date of entry in the rank of Probationary Temporary
Lieutenant (A), with seniority of 7th June, 1943, and reappointed,
to date 7th June, 1943.
Probationary Temporary Acting Sub-Lieutenant (A) Charles
Barry Topliss, R.N.V.R., transferred to Royal New Zealand Naval
Volunteer Reserve as from date of entry in the rank of Probationary
Temporary Acting Sub-Lieutenant (A), with seniority of 25th

Naval Volunteer Reserve as from date of entry in the rank of
Temporary Acting Electrical Lieutenant-Commander, with seniority
of 31st March, 1943, and reappointed, to date 22nd September, 1940.
Temporary Electrical Lieutenant Alexander William Rowan,
R.N.V.R., transferred to Royal New Zealand Naval Volunteer
Reserve as from date of entry in the rank of Temporary Electrical
Lieutenant, with seniority of 17th July, 1940, and reappointed, to
date 17th March, 1940.
Temporary Surgeon Lieutenant Allan Gordon Cumming,
M.B., Ch.B., M.R.C.O.G., R.N.V.R., transferred to Royal New
Zealand Naval Volunteer Reserve as from date of entry in the rank
of Temporary Surgeon Lieutenant, with seniority of 17th July, 1940,
and reappointed, to date 17th July, 1940.
From the Royal Australian Navy to the Royal New Zealand Navy:—
Temporary Paymaster Lieutenant Fergus Buchanan Campbell,
M.B.E., R.A.N.R. (S), transferred to Royal New Zealand Naval
Reserve as from date of entry in the rank of Temporary Paymaster
Lieutenant, with seniority of 24th October, 1941, and reappointed,
to date 15th October, 1939. Mobilized for service, to date 6th June,
1940.
