Notice to Persons affected by Applications for Licenses under Part III
of the Industrial Efficiency Act, 1936

Taking of Fish for Sale

D. L. Ryan, 47 George Street, Newmarket, Auckland, has applied for a license to permit him to operate a 50 ft. vessel (to be built or purchased), using Danish seine nets and purse seine nets, catches to be landed at Auckland.

A. Connelly, 11 Nelson Street, Auckland, has applied for a license to permit him to operate his 16 ft. outboard-motor boat (not yet registered), using set-nets, long lines, hand-lines, and crayfish-pots, catches to be landed at Raukokore, Bay of Plenty; and also a fish-retailer’s license to enable him to hawk his catches for sale from Raukokore to Te Araroa, Tikitiki, and Ruatoria.

H. W. Forrest, Morse Street, Napier, has applied for a variation in the conditions of his industrial fishing license so as to permit him to operate his 48 ft. 50 h.p. fishing-vessel “Kotuku” (not yet registered), using trawl-nets, set-nets, drag-nets, long lines, hand-lines, and crayfish-pots, catches to be landed at Napier.

S. G. Standen, Waitarere Beach, Levin, has applied for a license to permit him to operate his 20 ft. 10 h.p. vessel “Squilla” (not yet registered), using trawl-nets, set-nets, drag-nets, long lines, and hand-lines, catches to be landed at Waitarere; and also a fish-retailer’s license to enable him to sell his catches at boatside and in the near vicinity.

C. W. Houchen, Whanake Street, Titahi Bay, has applied for a license to permit him to operate his 12 ft. outboard-motor boat “Stormalong” (not yet registered), using set-nets, drag-nets, long lines, hand-lines, and crayfish-pots, catches to be landed at Titahi Bay; and also a fish-retailer’s license to enable him to sell his catches at boatside and in the near vicinity.

J. Chapman, Motueka, has applied for a license to permit him to operate his launch “Elsinore” (not yet registered), using long lines and hand-lines, catches to be landed at Riwaka.

G. A. Whiting, Motueka, and J. Climo, Washington Valley, Nelson, have applied for licenses to permit them to operate the 30 ft. fishing-vessel “Viking” (not yet registered), using set-nets, drag-nets, long lines, and hand-lines, catches to be landed at Nelson and French Pass.

Raymond Humphries, 23 Pembroke Road, Wadestown, Wellington, has applied for a license to permit him to operate his fishing-vessel (not yet registered), using set-nets, drag-nets, long lines, and hand-lines, catches to be landed at Makara; and also a fish-retailer’s license to enable him to sell his catches at boatside.

F. E. Sims, 16 High Street, Musselburgh, and E. W. Geary, 49 Princes Street, St. Kilda, Dunedin, have applied for licenses to permit them to operate their fishing-vessel “Waiwera” (not yet registered), using trawl-nets and hand-lines, catches to be landed at Port Chalmers.

A. Mc. N. Wyllie, 15 Dudley Street, Invercargill, and R. D. Cathcart, 46 Liffey Street, Invercargill, have applied for licenses to permit them to operate the 32 ft. 27 h.p. launch “Alert” (not yet registered), using drag-nets, long lines, hand-lines, and crayfish-pots, catches to be landed at Riverton or Half-moon Bay.

Fish Retailing

A. E. Amey, Pukerua Bay, has applied for a fish-retailer’s license to hawk fish for sale in the districts of Plimmerton, Pahautanui, Pukerua Bay, and Paekakariki.

Manufacture for Sale of Footwear

P. C. Peters Shoe Co., Ltd., Greymouth, have applied for an extension of their existing license so as to permit the manufacture of children’s sandals up to size 7 by the machine-sewn process.

Perry’s Shoes, Ltd., Christchurch, has applied for permission to establish a machine-room at Lyttelton and to transfer thereto a portion of the plant of its Christchurch factory.

Persons considering themselves materially affected by the decision of the Bureau of Industry on these applications should make any desired representations in writing not later than the 18th May, 1944, to G. L. O’Halloran, Secretary, Bureau of Industry, G.P.O. Box 3025, Wellington.

Jetty and Lights established

Position: Mission Point △. Lat., 37° 40′ 27″ S.; long., 176° 10′ 21″ E. (approx.).
Details: A jetty which has been established extends approximately 083° 560 ft. from a position 354° 1,045 ft. from the above △. Three fixed lights, green, white, green disposed vertically, 3 ft. apart, the lower light at an elevation of 26 ft., are exhibited from the seaward end of the jetty.
