And whereas the lands described in the Schedule hereto were, by the Warrant dated the twenty-third day of December, one thousand nine hundred and forty-three, and published in the Gazette of the thirteenth day of January, one thousand nine hundred and forty-four, temporarily reserved under the authority of the said Acts for the purposes in the Schedule of the said Warrant specified at the end of the respective descriptions of the lands so intended to be temporarily reserved :
Now, therefore, I, Cyril Louis Norton Newall, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the said Acts, do hereby permanently reserve the lands described in the Schedule hereto for the purposes in the said Schedule specified at the end of the respective descriptions of the lands so intended to be permanently reserved for which purposes the said lands were so temporarily reserved as aforesaid.

AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT
SECTION 8, Block II, Reporoa Township, situated in Block X, Paeroa Survey District: Area, 1 acre, more or less. (Railway.)
Allotment 391, Parish of Mangapiko, situated in Block II, Puniu Survey District: Area, 1 acre 1 rood 17·72 perches, more or less. (Recreation.)
Allotment 624, Parish of Taupiri, situated in Block XI, Rangiriri Survey District: Area, 1 acre and 10·5 perches, more or less. (Recreation.)
TARANAKI LAND DISTRICT
All that area in the Borough of Patea, containing by admeasurement 3 roods 26·69 perches, more or less, being Section 29 (formerly part Lot 1, D.P. 5713), Block XLVI, Town of Patea. As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 1/1107/4A, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon edged red. All that area containing by admeasurement 1 acre and 10·96 perches, more or less, being part Section 36, Block I, Ngaere Survey District. As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 1/1107/4, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon edged red. MARLBOROUGH LAND DISTRICT
All that area containing by admeasurement 2 roods 16·3 perches, more or less, situated in the Borough of Blenheim, being part of Section 50, District of Omaka, and being also Lot 18 on Plan 1659, deposited in the office of the Chief Surveyor, Blenheim. As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 1/1107/7, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon edged red. (Recreation.)
OTAGO LAND DISTRICT
Section 166, Wakari Survey District: Area, 3 roods 24·8 perches, more or less. (Public-school site.)
Section 21, Block III, Upper Kaikorai Survey District: Area, 2 roods 35·33 perches, more or less. (Recreation.)

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the following appointments, promotions, relinquishments of temporary rank, relinquishments of short-service commissions, and retirements of officers of the New Zealand Military Forces :—
N.Z. STAFF CORPS
Captain (temp. Lieutenant-Colonel) W. J. Smeeton relinquishes his short-service commission in the N.Z. Staff Corps. Dated 11th March, 1944.
Captain (temp. Major) E. E. Lloyd relinquishes his short-service commission in the N.Z. Staff Corps, and retains his rank and appointment in the 2nd N.Z. Expeditionary Force, vide New Zealand Gazette No. 5 of 4th February, 1943. Dated 29th February, 1944.
Captain C. A. N. Pilcher relinquishes his short-service commission in the N.Z. Staff Corps. Dated 29th February, 1944.
Captain R. H. Bell relinquishes his short-service commission in the N.Z. Staff Corps, and retains his rank and appointment in the 2nd N.Z. Expeditionary Force, vide New Zealand Gazette No. 6 of 10th February, 1944. Dated 29th February, 1944.

Warwick James Smeeton (late temp. Lieutenant-Colonel, N.Z. Staff Corps) to be temp. Lieutenant-Colonel. Dated 12th March, 1944.
Temp. Lieutenant-Colonel G. R. Blackett, M.C., relinquishes the temporary rank of Lieutenant-Colonel on relinquishing the appointment of a Zone Commander, and assumes the temporary rank of Major on being appointed D.A.Q.M.G. of a District. Dated 20th March, 1944.
