Approval of Testing Officer under the Motor-drivers Regulations 1940

IN terms of Regulation 5 of the Motor-drivers Regulations 1940, the Minister of Transport doth hereby approve, until further notice, of the person named in Column 2 of the Schedule hereunder being Testing Officer under the said regulations for the authority specified in Column 1 of the said Schedule.

The Pig Marketing Emergency Regulations 1943.—Amending Notice fixing Prices and Basic Values

Wellington, 17th March, 1944.

PURSUANT to Regulation 5 of the Pig Marketing Emergency Regulations 1943, I hereby amend the notice (given under my hand on the 3rd day of November, 1943, and published in the Gazette on the 4th day of the same month at page 1287) which fixes maximum prices that an operator may pay for pigs, by fixing the following scale of prices as the maximum prices that an operator may pay for overweight baconers purchased or killed, as the case may be, during the period hereinafter mentioned in substitution for the relevant portions of the scale of maximum prices dated the 3rd day of November, 1943, and I do hereby declare that the first paragraph of the amending notice given under my hand on the 22nd day of December, 1943, and published in the Gazette on the 23rd day of the same month at page 1533, shall not apply in respect of pigs purchased or killed on or after the 20th January, 1944.

SCALE OF PRICES

MAXIMUM PRICES AT WHICH OVERWEIGHT BACONERS MAY BE PURCHASED BY OPERATORS

  1. Purchased at an Auction on a “No Grade” Basis

Overweight Baconers—

When purchased during the period commencing on 20th January, 1944, and ending on 31st May, 1944—

Weight Range 176/185 lb. (including Head)
6d. per pound dressed weight (including head), less cost of delivery to nearest port works.

Weight Range 186/200 lb. (including Head)
5d. per pound dressed weight (including head), less cost of delivery to nearest port works.

  1. Purchased otherwise than at an Auction

(a) On a “no grade” basis, delivered at nearest port works, less customary charges usually payable by vendor :—

Overweight Baconers—

When killed during the period commencing on 20th January, 1944, and ending on 31st May, 1944—

Weight Range 176/185 lb. (including Head)
5½d. per pound dressed weight (including head).

Weight Range 186/200 lb. (including Head)
4¾d. per pound dressed weight (including head).

(b) On a “graded basis”, delivered at nearest port works, less customary charges usually payable by vendor :—

PURSUANT to Regulation 13 of the said regulations, I hereby amend the notice (given under my hand on the 3rd day of November, 1943, and published in the Gazette on the 4th day of the same month at page 1287) which fixes the scale of basic values of frozen meat acquired by the Marketing Department and the amending notice (given under my hand on the 22nd day of December, 1943, and published in the Gazette on the 23rd day of the same month at page 1533) by fixing the following amended scale of basic values for frozen Wiltshire sides derived from pigs killed during the period hereinafter mentioned :—

Second quality (mutilated) : 7⅝d.

Taking of Fish for Sale

G. J. Warne, Russell, has applied for a license to permit him to operate his 30 ft. 35 h.p. engined vessel “Rosemary” (not yet registered), using set-nets and hand-lines, catches to be landed at Russell.

T. M. and E. F. Arlidge, Russell, have applied for licenses to permit them to operate their fishing-vessels “Alma G” and “Alma G II” (not yet registered), using hand-lines and rod and reel, catches to be landed at Russell.

W. H. H. Mortimore, 5 Ewings Road, Whangarei, has applied for a license to permit him to operate his fishing-vessel “Kuku” (not yet registered), using set-nets, long lines, and hand-lines, catches to be landed at Whangarei.

J. A. Colquhoun, Sylvan Avenue, Northcote, Auckland, has applied for a license to permit him to operate the fishing-vessel “Janice” (not yet registered), using long lines and hand-lines, catches to be landed at Auckland.

J. Picone, Port Ahuriri, has applied for a variation in the conditions of his industrial fishing license in respect of the fishing-vessel “Cellina,” NR. 357, using Danish seine nets, so as to permit him to also use set-nets, long lines, and hand-lines, catches to be landed at Port Ahuriri.

F. J. Currie, Matai Street, Castlecliff, Wanganui, has applied for a license to permit him to operate his fishing-vessel “Susie,” WGN. 120, using long lines and hand-lines, catches to be landed at Wanganui.

W. Nicolson, 119 Mornington Road, Wellington, has applied for a license to permit him to operate the 45 ft. launch “Lariane” (not yet registered), using trawl-nets, set-nets, drag-nets, long lines, and hand-lines, catches to be landed at Wellington.

W. H. Robinson, Shelly Beach, Helensville, has applied for a license to permit him to operate his fishing-vessel “Alma” (not yet registered), using set-nets, long lines, and hand-lines, catches to be landed at Shelly Beach, also for a fish-retailer’s license so as to permit him to sell his catches at boat-side.

W. H. Parker, Heretaunga Street, Hastings, has applied for a license to permit him to operate the 27 ft. 23 h.p. petrol-driven engined vessel “Kaihe” (not yet registered), using drag-nets, long lines, hand-lines, and crayfish-pots, catches to be landed at Napier.

Manufacture for Sale of Footwear

G. K. Prisk, Dannevirke, has applied for a license to commence in the above industry to the extent of manufacturing clogs.

Persons considering themselves materially affected by the decisions of the Bureau of Industry on these applications should make any desired representations in writing not later than the 6th April, 1944, to G. L. O’Halloran, Secretary, Bureau of Industry, G.P.O. Box 3025, Wellington.

CORRIGENDUM

The notice appearing in the New Zealand Gazette No. 19, dated 9th March, 1944, page 244, advising the decision of the Bureau of Industry in granting a malt-extract-manufacturing license to A. Warner, Ltd., should read “A. Wander, Ltd.”

Notice to make Returns of Land under the Land and Income Tax Act, 1923

EVERY person and company within the meaning of the Land and Income Tax Act, 1923, and regulations thereunder, whether a taxpayer or not, being owner of land in New Zealand, is hereby required to forward to or deliver at my office, Wellington C. 3, on or before the 10th April, 1944, in the prescribed form, returns of such land as at 12 noon on 31st March, 1944, where the total unimproved value, as assessed under the Valuation of Land Act, 1925, exceeds £500.

Any person failing to furnish a return at the prescribed time is liable to a penalty up to £100.

Return forms are available at any post-office.
