Consenting to the Sale by the Otago Electric-power Board of certain Land in accordance with the Electric-power Boards Act, 1925
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by section 92 of the Electric-power Boards Act, 1925, and of every other power in anywise enabling me in this behalf, I, Robert Semple, Minister of Works, do hereby consent to the sale by the Otago Electric-power Board of the land described in the Schedule hereto, such land being no longer required for the electric works for which it was acquired.

APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land authorized to be sold : 36 perches.
Being Allotment 83, Block IV, D.P. 59, being part Section 131.
Situated in Block XVI, Tokomairiro Survey District.

The Shops and Offices Act, 1921-22, and its Amendments.—Fixing the Closing-hours of Tobacconists’ Shops within the Borough of Kaiapoi
WHEREAS a requisition in writing has been forwarded to the Minister of Labour from the occupiers of tobacconists’ shops within the Borough of Kaiapoi pursuant to section 32 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22 :
And whereas he is satisfied that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the said shops within the said borough :
Now, therefore, in pursuance of the said section 32, the Minister of Labour doth hereby direct that on and after the 3rd day of April, 1944, all the said shops within the said borough shall be closed in the evening of working-days as follows : On Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays at 6 p.m., on Fridays at 8.30 p.m., and on Saturdays at 9 p.m., with the following exception : Should the occupier of any shop affected by this notice observe, pursuant to section 14 (2) of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, Saturday as the statutory closing-day, then and in such case the closing-hour on Thursday for such shop shall be 9 p.m.
The notice gazetted on the 1st October, 1942,* fixing the closing-hours of tobacconists’ shops within the Borough of Kaiapoi is hereby cancelled as from the date of the coming into operation of this notice.

Exemption Order under the Transport Legislation Emergency Regulations 1940
PURSUANT to the Transport Legislation Emergency Regulations 1940, the Minister of Transport doth hereby order and declare that the provisions of clause (1) of Regulation 7 of the Motor-drivers Regulations 1940, so far as they relate to the driving of heavy trade motors, shall not apply to the person hereinafter mentioned, but in lieu thereof the following provisions shall apply :—
A motor-driver’s license issued under the Motor-drivers Regulations 1940 to the person described in Column 1 of the Schedule hereunder may authorize him to drive a heavy trade motor for the purpose of the business of the respective employer described in Column 2 of the said Schedule, but shall not authorize him, while he is under the age of eighteen years, to drive a heavy trade motor for any other purpose.
