(a) Attained the age of twenty-one and a half years (twenty-two years prior to 1st September, 1943);
(b) Performed one year's service in the confirmed rank of Sub-Lieutenant (Sp). -
Sub-Lieutenant (E) to Lieutenant (E), R.N.Z.N.V.R., for Maintenance Duties
(a) Attained the age of twenty-one and a half years (twenty-two years prior to 1st September, 1943);
(b) Performed one year's service in the confirmed rank of Temporary Sub-Lieutenant (E), R.N.Z.N.V.R. -
R.N.Z.N.V.R. Officers Qualified as Pilot or Observer and R.N.Z.N.V.R. (A) Officers
(a) Attained the age of twenty-one and a half years (twenty-two years prior to 1st September, 1943);
(b) Completed not less than twelve months' service as Pilot or Observer in a First- or Second-line Squadron in the confirmed rank of Acting Sub-Lieutenant or above. -
R.N.Z.N.V.R. Officers Qualified as Pilot or Observer and R.N.Z.N.V.R. (A) Officers Medically Unfit for Flying Duties and Air Branch Officers Commissioned for Ground Duties
R.N.Z.N.V.R. and R.N.Z.N.V.R. (A) Officers qualified as Pilot or Observer who become permanently unfit for flying duties and R.N.Z.N.V.R. (A) Officers granted commissions for ground duties (other than Air Engineer officers) may be recommended for accelerated promotion to Lieutenant provided that they—
(a) Have attained the age of twenty-one and a half years (twenty-two years prior to 1st September, 1943);
(b) Have performed one year's service in the rank of Sub-Lieutenant or Sub-Lieutenant (A), including acting and probationary time.
The footnote to the rules for promotion of Air Branch officers—Sub-Lieutenant (A) to Lieutenant (A) in Schedule A, under which, in certain circumstances, officers can obtain promotion to Lieutenant (A) before the age of twenty-two years and twenty-one and a half years—is not affected by this Schedule.
The foregoing rules came into force in the Royal New Zealand Navy on 1st May, 1943, except the minimum age requirement where indicated.

Declaring Lake Murihiku in the Southland Acclimatization District to be a Sanctuary

IN pursuance of the powers conferred on me by the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921-22, I, Cyril Louis Norton Newall, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby notify and declare the area described in the Schedule hereto to be a sanctuary for the purposes of the said Act.
SCHEDULE
ALL that area in the Southland Land District situated in Block XVII, Invercargill Hundred, being the lake known as Lake Murihiku.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 16th day of March, 1944.
