Declaring Horseshoe Lake in the North Canterbury Acclimatization District to be a Sanctuary

IN pursuance of the powers conferred on me by the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921–22, I, Cyril Louis Norton Newall, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby notify and declare the area described in the Schedule hereto to be a sanctuary for the purposes of the said Act.
SCHEDULE
ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District, containing by admeasurement 24 acres, more or less, being Section No. 3659 (in red), Blocks VIII and XII, Christchurch Survey District, and known as the Horseshoe Lake (Waikakariki). Bounded towards the north generally by the road reserved along the said lake, and fronting Rural Sections Nos. 1327, 1053, and 1132; and towards the east, south, and west generally by Rural Sections Nos. 1068, 861, 831, and 9583; as the same is delineated on the plan marked S.G. 51300, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon bordered red.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 13th day of March, 1944.

Trustees for the Otakeho Public Cemetery appointed

PURSUANT to section four of the Cemeteries Act, 1908, I, Cyril Louis Norton Newall, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby appoint—
Harry Bayliss,
James Crawford Duff,
Stanley Hudleston Le Fleming, and
Harry Hartley
to be trustees to have the maintenance and care of the Otakeho Public Cemetery, in place of
Hubert James Eaves and Walter Frederick Lyndon,
who have left the district, and of
Leslie Stewart Mackie and Edward Wills,
whose seats have become vacant by death.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 7th day of March, 1944.

Lands permanently reserved in the Auckland and Canterbury Land Districts

WHEREAS by the three-hundred-and-fifty-ninth section of the Land Act, 1924, it is enacted that the Governor-General may from time to time set apart temporarily as reserves, notwithstanding that the same may be then held under pastoral license, any Crown lands which in his opinion are required for any of the purposes in the said section mentioned :
And whereas by the three-hundred-and-sixtieth section of the said Act it is provided that land temporarily reserved under the said three-hundred-and-fifty-ninth section may, at the expiration of one month, but not later than six months, after the publication in the Gazette of notice of such temporary reservation, be permanently reserved, and that notice of such permanent reservation shall be published in the Gazette :
And whereas the lands described in the Schedule hereto were, by the Warrant dated the twentieth day of December, one thousand nine hundred and forty-three, and published in the Gazette of the twenty-third day of that month, temporarily reserved under the authority of the said Act for the purposes in the Schedule of the said Warrant specified at the end of the respective descriptions of the lands so intended to be temporarily reserved :
Now, therefore, I, Cyril Louis Norton Newall, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the said Act, do hereby permanently reserve the lands described in the Schedule hereto for the purposes in the said Schedule specified at the end of the respective descriptions of the lands so intended to be permanently reserved for which purposes the said lands were so temporarily reserved as aforesaid.

SECTION 4, Block XXXIV, Town of Taupo, situated in Block II, Tauhara Survey District: Area, 38 perches, more or less. (S.O. plan 31844.) (Site for public buildings of General Government.)
CANTERBURY LAND DISTRICT
Reserve 4465, Block IX, Westerfield Survey District: Area, 14 acres 0 roods 27 perches, more or less. (Plantation.)
Also Reserve 4466, Block IX, Westerfield Survey District: Area, 13 acres 0 roods 3 perches, more or less. (Plantation.)
