  1. These regulations shall come into force on the date of the same being published in the New Zealand Gazette.
  2. In these regulations the words “bookmaker,” “racing club,” and “race meeting” shall have the meanings ascribed to those terms respectively by section 2 of the Gaming Act, 1908.
  3. The following persons shall be and are hereby excluded from the racecourse above described while the same is used or occupied by the said club for a race meeting, namely:—
    (a) Bookmakers:
    (b) Bookmakers’ clerks, bookmakers’ assistants, and bookmakers’ agents:
    (c) All persons under disqualification inflicted by any racing or trotting club in the Dominion of New Zealand, the Commonwealth of Australia, or elsewhere if affiliated to the New Zealand Racing Conference, or the New Zealand Trotting Conference, or the New Zealand Trotting Association:
    (d) Common prostitutes and persons who habitually consort with thieves or persons who have no lawful visible means of support:
    (e) Professional tipsters, persons convicted of house-breaking or pocket-picking, forgery, uttering, or possessing counterfeit coin, theft, false pretences, receiving stolen goods, mischief, assault, or any offence or crime of any kind under the Crimes Act, 1908, and also idle and disorderly persons, rogues, and vagabonds, and incorrigible rogues convicted under the Police Offences Act, 1908, and persons convicted of an offence under the Gaming Act, 1908:

Provided always that the Executive Committee appointed by the New Zealand Racing Conference, upon being satisfied by evidence as to character and otherwise that any person who, by reason of any conviction, comes within the scope of this regulation, should have relief from the effect thereof, may grant exemption to any such person, and may at any time revoke any such exemption without notice to such person, and without assigning any reason for such revocation.

The foregoing regulations of the Nelson Jockey Club were made and passed by such club on the 10th day of February, 1944, and signed by the Chairman and Secretary.

THE CAMBRIDGE BOROUGH COUNCIL

SPECIAL ORDER

AT a special meeting of the Cambridge Borough Council held in the Council Chambers at Cambridge on Wednesday, the 17th day of November, 1943, it was resolved that the Council by special order do the following:—

Alter the total number of members of the Council by increasing the same from six to eight, but such alteration or increase of the total number of members of the Council shall not be made until the next triennial election.

Such resolution (meantime having been publicly notified) was confirmed at an ordinary meeting of the said Council duly called and held in the said Council Chamber on the 15th day of December, 1943.

The common seal of the Mayor, Councillors, and Burgesses of the Borough of Cambridge was hereunto put in the presence of—

A BY-LAW OF THE CAMBRIDGE BOROUGH COUNCIL MADE PURSUANT TO THE MUNICIPAL CORPORATIONS ACT, 1933

CEMETERY

  1. The First Schedule to section 9 of By-law No. 1 of the said borough shall be repealed and the following Schedule substituted therefor:—

“FIRST SCHEDULE

“For interment— £ s. d.
“(a) For each person over the age of nine years 1 15 0

“For interment if grave more than 6 ft. deep, per foot extra .. .. .. .. 0 2 6

“Purchase of right of interment in perpetuity—

  1. Clause 123 of section 9 of By-law No. 1 of the said borough shall be repealed and the following clause substituted therefor:—

“The exclusive right of interment in perpetuity in the cemetery may be purchased in selected ground at the scale specified in the First Schedule hereto: Provided, however, that the said scale shall be reduced by the sum of £2 for each plot 8 ft. by 4 ft. purchased by any person ordinarily resident within the Borough of Cambridge; and, provided further, that for interments in the special area in the cemetery known as the soldiers’ allotment, plots may not be reserved, but when the same are allotted no charges will be made therefor.”
