The Pig Marketing Emergency Regulations 1943.—Notice fixing Prices and Basic Values
Office of the Minister of Marketing,
Wellington, 3rd November, 1943.
PURSUANT to Regulation 5 of the Pig Marketing Emergency Regulations 1943, I hereby fix the following scale of prices being the maximum prices that an operator may pay for pigs of the kinds herein mentioned purchased or killed, as the case may be, during the periods therein mentioned.

SCALE OF PRICES
MAXIMUM PRICES AT WHICH PIGS MAY BE PURCHASED BY OPERATORS
- Purchased at an Auction on a “ No Grade ” Basis
Porkers—
When purchased during the period commencing on the 1st October, 1943, and ending on the 31st May, 1944: 6½d. per pound dressed weight (including head), less cost of delivery to nearest port works.
Baconers—
When purchased during the period commencing on the 1st November, 1943, and ending on the 31st May, 1944: 6¾d. per pound dressed weight (including head), less cost of delivery to nearest port works.
Overweight Baconers—
When purchased during the period commencing on the 1st November, 1943, and ending on the 31st May, 1944: 4¾d. per pound dressed weight (including head), less cost of delivery to nearest port works.
Choppers—
When purchased during the period commencing on the 1st November, 1943, and ending on the 31st May, 1944: 3¼d. per pound dressed weight (including head), less cost of delivery to nearest port works.
- Purchased otherwise than at an Auction
(a) On a “ no grade ” basis, delivered at nearest port works, less customary charges usually payable by vendor:—
Porkers—
When killed during the period commencing on the 1st October, 1943, and ending on the 31st May, 1944: 6¼d. per pound dressed weight (including head).
Baconers—
When killed during the period commencing on the 1st November, 1943, and ending on the 31st May, 1944: 6¾d. per pound dressed weight (including head).
Overweight Baconers—
When killed during the period commencing on the 1st November, 1943, and ending on the 31st May, 1944: 4¾d. per pound dressed weight (including head).
(b) On a “ graded ” basis, delivered at nearest port works, less customary charges usually payable by vendor:—
Porkers—
When killed during the period commencing on the 1st October, 1943, and ending on the 31st May, 1944—
First quality, exportable: 6¾d. per pound dressed weight (including head).
Second quality, exportable: 6¼d. per pound dressed weight (including head).
First quality, unexportable: 5½d. per pound dressed weight (including head).
Second quality (mutilated): 5d. per pound dressed weight (including head).
Baconers—
When killed during the period commencing on the 1st November, 1943, and ending on the 31st May, 1944—
First quality, exportable: 6¾d. per pound dressed weight (including head).
Second quality, exportable: 6¾d. per pound dressed weight (including head).
First quality, unexportable: 6¾d. per pound dressed weight (including head).
Second quality, unexportable: 6¾d. per pound dressed weight (including head).
Second quality (mutilated): 5¼d. per pound dressed weight (including head).
Overweight Baconers—
When killed during the period commencing on the 1st November, 1943, and ending on the 31st May, 1944—
First quality, exportable: 4¾d. per pound dressed weight (including head).
Second quality, exportable: 4¾d. per pound dressed weight (including head).
First quality, unexportable: 4¾d. per pound dressed weight (including head).
Second quality, unexportable: 4¾d. per pound dressed weight (including head).
Second quality (mutilated): 3d. per pound dressed weight (including head).
Choppers—
When killed during the period commencing on the 1st November, 1943, and ending on the 31st May, 1944—
First and second quality, exportable and unexportable: 3d. per pound dressed weight (including head).
PURSUANT to Regulation 13 of the Pig Marketing Emergency Regulations 1943, I hereby fix the following scale of basic values as the scale according to which the basic value of frozen meat of the classes and grades therein mentioned acquired by the Marketing Department and derived from pigs killed during the periods therein mentioned, shall be determined.

If killed during the period commencing on the 1st October, 1943, and ending on the 31st May, 1944—
First quality, exportable (unsinged): 8½d.
Second quality, exportable (unsinged): 8¼d.
First quality, unexportable (unsinged): 7¾d.
Second quality (mutilated) (unsinged): 7d.
Frozen Wiltshire Sides—
If killed during the period commencing on the 1st November, 1943, and ending on the 31st May, 1944—
(a) Weight Range 50/75 lb.
First quality, exportable (singed): 8¹³⁄₁₆d.
Second quality, exportable (singed): 8¼d.
First quality, unexportable (singed): 8¹³⁄₁₆d.
Second quality, unexportable (singed): 8¼d.
Second quality (mutilated) (singed): 7⁵⁄₁₆d.
(b) Weight Range 76/79 lb.
First quality, exportable (singed): 6¹³⁄₁₆d.
Second quality, exportable (singed): 6⁷⁄₁₆d.
First quality unexportable (singed): 6¹³⁄₁₆d.
Second quality, unexportable (singed): 6⁷⁄₁₆d.
Second quality (mutilated) (singed): 5¹⁄₁₆d.
Choppers (Frozen Headless Chopper Sides)—
If killed during the period commencing on the 1st November, 1943, and ending on the 31st May, 1944—
First and second quality, exportable and unexportable (unsinged): 4¼d.

The Acquisition of Frozen Pig-meats Notice 1943, No. 2
PURSUANT to the Pig Marketing Emergency Regulations 1943, the Director of the Export Division of the Marketing Department, on behalf of the Department, hereby gives notice as follows:—

This notice may be cited as the Acquisition of Frozen Pig-meats Notice 1943, No. 2.

This notice shall apply in the whole of the North Island and shall apply to frozen meat which is derived from porkers, baconers, overweight baconers, and choppers that are or have been killed on or after the 1st day of October, 1943.

The Department intends to acquire all meat to which this notice applies that in the period of twelve months ending on the 30th day of September, 1944, is in or comes into any meat-export slaughterhouse, abattoir, or bacon-curing establishment, or any other freezing establishment, and is frozen.

Price Order No. 170 (Woolpacks)
PURSUANT to the powers conferred on it by the Control of Prices Emergency Regulations 1939,* the Price Tribunal, acting with the authority of the Minister of Industries and Commerce, doth hereby make the following Price Order:—

This Order may be cited as Price Order No. 170, and shall come into force on the 5th day of November, 1943.

(1) Price Order No. 113† is hereby revoked.
(2) The revocation of the said Price Order shall not affect the liability of any person for any offence in relation thereto committed before the coming into force of this Order.
APPLICATION OF THIS ORDER
- This Order applies only with respect to sales by way of retail of 42 in. woolpacks.
FIXING MAXIMUM RETAIL PRICE OF WOOLPACKS TO WHICH THIS ORDER APPLIES
- (1) The maximum price that may be charged or received by any retailer for any woolpacks to which this Order applies shall be:—
(a) For woolpacks delivered by the retailer at the ports of Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Timaru, Dunedin, or Bluff: 7s. each ex store.
(b) For woolpacks delivered by the retailer elsewhere than at one of the ports mentioned in paragraph (a) hereof: 7s. each ex store at the place of delivery, increased to the nearest halfpenny by a proportionate part of the freight charges incurred by the retailer in obtaining delivery from such one of the said ports as is nearest or most convenient of access to his store :
