THE NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE

Price Order No. 161. (Rice)
Pursuant to the powers conferred on it by the Control of Prices Emergency Regulations 1939,* the Price Tribunal, acting with the authority of the Minister of Industries and Commerce, doth hereby make the following Price Order:
- This Order may be cited as Price Order No. 161, and shall come into force on the 4th day of October, 1943.
- (1) Price Order No. 80† is hereby revoked.
(2) The revocation of the said Price Order shall not affect the liability of any person for any offence in relation thereto committed before the coming into force of this Order.
Application of this Order
- This Order applies with respect to dressed rice of any kind.
Fixing Maximum Wholesale and Retail Prices of Rice to Which this Order Applies
Wholesalers' Prices
- The maximum price that may be charged or received by any wholesaler for any rice to which this Order applies shall be—
(a) For rice sold in any area (whether a “free delivery” area or not) within which any general wholesale merchant carrying on business in any of the cities or boroughs of Auckland, Blenheim, Christchurch, Dannevirke, Dunedin, Gisborne, Greymouth, Hamilton, Hastings, Hawera, Hokitika, Invercargill, Masterton, Napier, Nelson, New Plymouth, Palmerston North, Timaru, Wanganui, Westport, or Wellington normally undertakes the delivery of goods to retailers :
(i) When sold in quantities of not less than 50 lb. in the case of rice imported into New Zealand from the United States of America, and not less than 56 lb. in the case of any other rice : at the rate of 37s. 4d. per hundredweight.
(ii) When sold in quantities of less than 50 lb. in the case of rice imported into New Zealand from the United States of America, and less than 56 lb. in the case of any other rice : at the rate of 39s. per hundredweight.
(b) For rice sold elsewhere :
(i) When sold in quantities of not less than 50 lb. in the case of rice imported into New Zealand from the United States of America, and not less than 56 lb. in the case of any other rice : at the rate of 39s. 8d. per hundredweight.
(ii) When sold in quantities of less than 50 lb. in the case of rice imported into New Zealand from the United States of America, and less than 56 lb. in the case of any other rice : at the rate of 41s. 4d. per hundredweight.
Retailers' Prices
- The maximum price that may be charged or received by any retailer for any rice to which this Order applies shall be—
(a) For rice sold in any area within which any general wholesale merchant carrying on business in any of the cities or boroughs of Auckland, Blenheim, Christchurch, Dannevirke, Dunedin, Gisborne, Greymouth, Hamilton, Hastings, Hawera, Hokitika, Invercargill, Masterton, Napier, Nelson, New Plymouth, Palmerston North, Timaru, Wanganui, Westport, or Wellington normally undertakes the free delivery of goods to retailers : 5d. per pound.
(b) For rice sold elsewhere : 5½d. per pound.

STATE FOREST SERVICE NOTICE
Milling-timber for Sale by Public Tender
State Forest Service,
Palmerston North, 27th September, 1943.
Notice is hereby given that written tenders for the sale of the undermentioned milling-timber will close at the office of the State Forest Service, Palmerston North, at 3 o'clock on Friday, the 15th day of October, 1943.
SCHEDULE
WELLINGTON FOREST CONSERVANCY.—WELLINGTON LAND DISTRICT ALL the milling-timber on that piece of land containing approximately 146 acres, known as Sawmill Area No 3, Blocks IX and XIII, Tongariro Survey District, State Forest 42, about three miles from Raurimu Railway-station.

The Clothing Rationing Coupon Notice No. 9
Pursuant to the Rationing Emergency Regulations 1942, I, James Ewing Thomas, Rationing Controller, hereby give the following directions:
- This notice may be cited as the Clothing Rationing Coupon Notice No. 9.*
- Every trader licensed as a retailer of goods declared to be rationed goods by the Clothing Rationing Order 1942† shall, within seven days after the end of each calendar month, furnish to the Rationing Controller a return in the form prescribed by the Controller of all coupons and permits surrendered to the trader in respect of sales of such goods made during the month, and shall either—
(a) Forward the coupons and permits to the Controller together with the return; or
(b) With the prior consent of the Controller, attach to each duplicate sales docket the coupons or permits surrendered in respect of the sale to which the docket relates.

The Sales of Pork Restriction Order 1943, Amendment No. 2
Pursuant to the Foodstuffs Emergency Regulations 1939,* the Food Controller hereby orders and directs as follows:
- This Order may be cited as the Sales of Pork Restriction Order 1943, Amendment No. 2, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Sales of Pork Restriction Order 1943† (hereinafter referred to as “the principal Order”).
- Clause 3 of the principal Order is hereby amended by omitting the words “30th day of September, 1943”, and substituting the words “30th day of November, 1943”.
- The Sales of Pork Restriction Order 1943, Amendment No. 1‡, is hereby revoked.

Prohibition of the Sale of Declared Goods under Clause 9 (2) of the Control of Prices Emergency Regulations 1939, Amendment No. 3
Pursuant to the powers conferred on it by clause 9 (2) of the Control of Prices Emergency Regulations 1939, Amendment No. 3,* the Price Tribunal hereby prohibits the sale by any persons whomsoever, on and after the 21st day of October, 1943, of any goods of a kind or class specified in the Schedule hereto (being goods that have been declared under the Declared Goods (Control of Prices) Notice 1943, No. 1†).
The prohibition of the sale of any goods in accordance with this notice shall cease to have effect with respect to such goods—
(a) If and when a Price Order issued by the Tribunal comes into force with respect to those goods; or
(b) If and when the Tribunal authorizes a selling-price or a maximum selling-price for such goods.
SCHEDULE
CLASSES OF GOODS THE SALE OF WHICH IS PROHIBITED BY THIS NOTICE
- Garments of any of the following kinds or classes made wholly or partially from materials containing New Zealand wool, namely : Underwear, pullovers, cardigans, slip-ons, jerseys, overcoats, men’s and boys’ two- and three-piece suits, sports coats, trousers, shorts, shirts, women’s skirts, girls’ gym frocks.
- Textile piece-goods wholly or partially manufactured from .New Zealand wool.
- Footwear.
- Boys’ school-caps.
- Hosiery.
- Gloves.
- Knitting-wools.
- Blankets.
- Mattresses and pillows.
