That portion of the County of Waipawa, bounded by a line commencing at a point on the boundary of the County of Waipawa (New Zealand Gazette, 1930, page 2684) at its intersection with a point in line with the northern side of Upper Otawhao Road; thence easterly to and along the northern side of that road to the eastern boundary of Block I, Takapau Survey District; thence generally southerly along the eastern boundary of Blocks I and V, Takapau Survey District, to the northern side of Lower Otawhao Road; thence easterly along the northern side of Lower Otawhao Road, to and across to the eastern side of the old Napier-Wellington Road in Block VI, Takapau Survey District; thence southerly along the last-mentioned road to a point in line with the southern boundaries of Lot 5, D.P. 1046; thence south-easterly to and along the southern boundaries of the said Lot 5 on the said D.P. 1046, Lot 6, D.P. 972, and Section 7, Wharawhara D.E. No. 1 Block to the south-eastern corner of the said Section 7; thence across a public road to the northernmost point of Lot 1, D.P. 1925; thence southerly, easterly and northerly along the boundaries of the said Lot 1 on the said D.P. 1925 to its easternmost point; thence by a right line to a point on the boundary of the County of Waipawa, being the northernmost point of part Section 1, Block XI, Takapau Survey District; thence northerly, westerly, southerly, and easterly along the boundary of the County of Waipawa aforesaid to the point of commencement.

That portion of the County of Waipukurau, bounded by a line commencing at a point on the boundary of the County of Waipukurau (New Zealand Gazette, 1917, page 3949) at the westernmost point of part Section 1, Block XI, Takapau Survey District; thence proceeding in an easterly and southerly direction along the northern boundaries of Lot 2, D.P. 2162, Lot 4, D.P. 4265, the northern and eastern boundaries of Lot 5, and the eastern boundary of Lot 1, D.P. 4265, to the boundary of the County of Waipukurau; thence in an easterly and southerly direction to a point on the boundary of the County of Waipukurau at the south-eastern corner of Section 14, Block XV, Takapau Survey District; thence proceeding by a right line in a southerly direction through Blocks XV and XVI, Takapau Survey District, and Block IV, Mangatoro Survey District, to the westernmost point of Block 62 in Block IV, Mangatoro Survey District; thence by a right line to the north-eastern corner of Wharawhara No. 3 Block in Block IV, Mangatoro Survey District; thence southerly along the eastern boundary of the said Wharawhara No. 3 Block to its point of intersection with the boundary of the County of Waipukurau; thence generally, northerly, easterly, westerly, and southerly along the boundary of the County of Waipukurau aforesaid to the point of commencement.

Also all that area in the Wellington and Hawke’s Bay Land Districts comprising portion of County of Rangitikei, bounded by a line commencing at Trigonometrical Station V on the eastern boundary of County of Rangitikei (New Zealand Gazette, 1922, page 2788), Block XII, Pukeokahu Survey District, thence proceeding westerly and northerly generally along the watershed between the Rangitikei River on the west and the Tararua River on the east, passing through Blocks XII, VIII, and IV, Pukeokahu Survey District, Blocks X, VIII, VII, IV and I, Taumata Survey District; Block IV, Motupihia Survey District, Block XVI, Mangamaire Survey District; Blocks XIII and IX, Horotca Survey District; and Block XII, Mangamaire Survey District, to Trigonometrical Station “Tawaki Tohunga” on the northern boundary of County of Rangitikei; thence easterly and southerly generally along the boundary of County of Rangitikei to the point of commencement.

Also all that area in the Auckland, Wellington, and Hawke’s Bay Land Districts comprising that portion of County of Taupo, bounded by a line commencing at a point on the boundary of County of Taupo (New Zealand Statutes, 1921–22, No. 64), and on the watershed between the Mohaka River and the headwaters of the Tutaekuri River, at Trigonometrical Station 65a in Block XXI, Kaweka Survey District; thence proceeding generally westerly along the boundary of County of Taupo aforesaid to Trigonometrical Station “Tawaki Tohunga” in Block XII, Mangamaire Survey District; thence in a general northerly direction along the watershed between the Tararua Stream and Ngaruroro River on the east and the Rangitikei River on the west respectively, passing through Blocks XII and VIII, Mangamaire Survey District, Block I, Horotca Survey District, Block IV, Mangamaire Survey District, Blocks XVI and XII, Waiotaka Survey District, and Block IX, Taharua Survey District, to Trigonometrical Station “Manawaru” in Block IX, Taharua Survey District; thence in northerly and easterly directions along right lines through Trigonometrical Station “Pikiawatea” to Trigonometrical Station “Maungarahi” in Block VII, Ahipapea Survey District; thence in a southerly and easterly direction generally along the watershed between the headwaters of the Ngaruroro River on the west and of the Mohaka River on the east, passing through Blocks VII, V, and VI, Ahipapea Survey District, and Blocks IV, V, X, XI, XVI, XVII, XX, and XXI, Kaweka Survey District, to the point of commencement.

As the same are more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 117763, deposited in the office of the Minister of Works at Wellington, and thereon edged red and marked Hawke’s Bay County (Sheets 1a, 1b, 1c, 1d), Patangata County (Sheet 2), Dannevirke County (Sheet 3), Waipawa County (Sheet 4), Waipukurau County (Sheet 5), Rangitikei County (Sheet 6), and Taupo County (Sheet 7).

Declaring the Number of Members and apportioning Representation on the Hawke’s Bay Catchment Board

At the Government House at Wellington, this 22nd day of September, 1943

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by the Soil Conservation and Rivers Control Act, 1941, and of every other power in anywise enabling him in that behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby declare that the Hawke’s Bay Catchment Board shall consist of ten elective members and five non-elective members, and that the number of such elective members to be representative of each separate constituent district or combined district within the catchment district on the said Board shall be the number specified in the Schedule hereto opposite the name of that constituent district or group of names of constituent districts comprising a combined district, and doth further declare that each group of constituent districts the names of which are bracketed together in the first column of the Schedule hereto is hereby constituted a combined district for the purposes of the said Act, and that the principal local authority of each such combined district shall be the local authority of the constituent district distinguished in the first column of the Schedule hereto by the letter “(P)”.
