Notice of Intention to take Land in Block VIII, Urewera Survey District, for a Native School

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, to take the land described in the Schedule hereto for a Native school: And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Rakauroa and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the taking of such land should, if they have any well-grounded objection to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the 23rd day of September, 1943, to the Minister of Works at Wellington.

THE following resolutions, passed by the Legislative Council and by the House of Representatives, are published in accordance with section 362 (3) of the Land Act, 1924.

EXTRACT FROM THE JOURNALS OF THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL
Wednesday, the 18th Day of August, 1943

Ordered, “That the Report of the Lands Committee on Paper 109, to reserve Section 15, Block IX, Moawhango Survey District, Wellington Land District, as a primary-education endowment, be agreed to.”—(On motion of the Hon. Mr. Duncan.)

ELLESMERE COUNTY COUNCIL
SPECIAL ORDER

It was moved by Councillor Chamberlain and seconded by Councillor McEvedy—

“That, under the authority provided by section 2 of the Counties Amendment Act, 1931, the Ellesmere County Council resolve by way of special order that sections 121 and 131 of the Counties Act, 1920, shall not apply to the Ellesmere County Council.” Carried.

Confirmed at the ordinary Council meeting held this 6th day of September, 1943.

The Auckland Shipwrights’ Labour Legislation Modification Order 1943

PURSUANT to the Labour Legislation Emergency Regulations 1940, the Minister of Labour doth hereby order as follows:—

  1. This Order may be cited as the Auckland Shipwrights’ Labour Legislation Modification Order 1943.

  2. This Order applies to shipwrights employed in Auckland on the building of new vessels and on repair work and to the employers of such workers.

  3. The provisions of all Acts and regulations and orders thereunder, and of all awards and industrial agreements under the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act, 1925, and of all agreements under the Labour Disputes Investigation Act, 1913, and of all voluntary agreements, are hereby modified to the extent hereinafter set forth.

  4. Workers employed on suburban work, which for the purposes of this Order shall be deemed to be work distant more than one mile and a half from the corner of Symonds Street and Khyber Pass, shall proceed to and from such work at the expense of the employer, and time reasonably occupied by the workers in so travelling shall be allowed and paid for by the employer, the workers to receive travelling time payable on the basis of one hour per day, plus 6d. fares: Provided that no worker residing less than one mile and a half from the job shall be entitled to receive travelling time or fares.

  5. This Order shall be deemed to have come into force on the 1st day of June, 1943.
