IT is hereby notified that each of the undermentioned persons has been appointed Returning Officer for the electoral district the name of which appears opposite his name :—

THE following writs for the election of members of Parliament for the Maori electoral districts are published in the Gazette in accordance with the provisions of the Electoral Act, 1927.

Poneke, 31 o Akuhata, 1943.
KO nga riti e whai ake nei mo te pootitanga mema mo te Paremete mo nga Takiwa Pooti Maori, tenei ka panuitia ki roto ki te Gazette i runga i nga tikanga o te Ture Pooti Mema mo te Paremete, 1927.

Writ for Maori Election
To the Returning Officer for the Eastern Maori Electoral District.
IN pursuance of section 186 of the Electoral Act, 1927, I hereby authorize and require you to proceed, according to law, to the election of a member of Parliament to serve in the House of Representatives for the Eastern Maori Electoral District.
I further direct that you cause the nominations for the said member to be received at the office of Lands and Deeds Registry, Gisborne, not later than noon on the 9th day of September, 1943, and, in the event of the election being contested, that the poll shall be taken on the 24th day of September, 1943.
You are further required to endorse on this writ the name of the person so elected, and to return the writ to me on or before the 11th day of October, 1943.

IN pursuance of section 186 of the Electoral Act, 1927, I hereby authorize and require you to proceed, according to law, to the election of a member of Parliament to serve in the House of Representatives for the Northern Maori Electoral District.
I further direct that you cause the nominations for the said member to be received at the office of the Native Land Court, Native Department, Emily Place, Auckland, not later than noon on the 9th day of September, 1943, and, in the event of the election being contested, that the poll shall be taken on the 24th day of September, 1943.
You are further required to endorse on this writ the name of the person so elected, and to return the writ to me on or before the 11th day of October, 1943.

I further direct that you cause the nominations for the said member to be received at the Supreme Court, Christchurch, not later than noon on the 9th day of September, 1943, and, in the event of the election being contested, that the poll shall be taken on the 24th day of September, 1943.
