Constituting the Manawatu Catchment District

ORDER IN COUNCIL
At the Government House at Wellington, this llth day of August,
1943
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred upon him by
the Soil Conservation and Rivers Control Act, 1941, and of
every other power in anyway enabling him in that behalf, His
Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand,
acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council
of the said Dominion, doth hereby constitute and declare the parts
of New Zealand described in the Schedule hereto a catchment
district under the said Act as from this eleventh day of August,
one thousand nine hundred and forty-three, and doth hereby assign
to such catchment district the name of the “Manawatu Catchment
District.”
SCHEDULE
ALL those areas in the Wellington Land District comprising:-
The Borough of Foxton (New Zealand Gazette, 1941, page 86).
All that portion of County of Manawatu, bounded by a line
commencing at a point on the sea-coast in line with the north-
western side of Hunia Terrace (Town of Himatangi Beach), Block
III, Sandy Survey District; thence proceeding north-easterly to
and along the north-western side of Hunia Terrace; thence easterly
along the northern side of the Koputara Road to its intersection
with the western side of No. 12 Wanganui-Levin State Highway;
thence northerly along the western side of the said No. 12 Wanganui-
Levin State Highway to a point in line with the northern boundary
of Lot 4 on D.P. 4003, being a subdivision of Sections 30 to 34
inclusive, Carnarvon Township, in Block III, Te Kawau Survey
District; thence to and along the northern boundaries of the said
Lot 4, to and along the western boundary of Section 1, Douglas
Block, to its north-western corner; thence easterly along the
northern boundaries of Sections 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 18, 19, 20, 21,
22, 23, of Douglas Block in Blocks III and VIII, Te Kawau Survey
District, to the western side of Leen’s Road; thence northerly
along the western side of Leen’s Road to its intersection with the
northern side of Awahuri Road; thence easterly along the northern
side of the said Awahuri Road to its intersection with the western
side of Fairfield Road; thence northerly along the western side
of the said Fairfield Road to its intersection with the southern side
of No. 33 Sanson - Palmerston North State Highway; thence
westerly along the southern side of the said No. 33 Sanson - Palmers-
ton North State Highway, to a point in line with the western side
of the Mount Stewart - Halcombe Road; thence northerly along
the western side of the said Mount Stewart - Halcombe Road to
its intersection in Block XII, Rangitoto Survey District, with the
northern boundary of the County of Manawatu (New Zealand
Gazette, 1941, page 86); thence easterly, southerly, westerly, and
northerly by the boundary of the County of Manawatu aforesaid,
to the point of commencement.
The Borough of Feilding (New Zealand Gazette, 1939, page 1582).
All that portion of County of Oroua, bounded by a line
commencing at the intersection of the southern boundary of the
County of Oroua (New Zealand Gazette, 1939, page 1582), in Block
XII, Rangitoto Survey District, with the western side of the Mount
Stewart - Halcombe Road; thence proceeding in a northerly
direction along the said road to a point in line with the northern
side of Kimber Street, Town of Halcombe; thence in an easterly
direction generally to and along the northern side of Kimber Street
to its intersection with the north-eastern side of Clive Street;
thence in a south-easterly direction across Kimber Street and along
the north-eastern side of Clive Street to its intersection with the
north-western side of Knorp Street; thence in a north-easterly
direction along the north-western side of Knorp Street and its
production across Hastings Street and the North Island Main
Trunk Railway, to and along the north-western side of Monteith
Street to its intersection with the south-western side of Clifford
Street; thence along a right line to the intersection of the eastern
side of Vogel Street with the northern side of Mangaone Road;
thence in an easterly direction generally along the northern side
of the said Mangaone Road to the south-eastern corner of Suburban
Section 137, Town of Halcombe, Block V, Oroua Survey District;
thence north-easterly along the south-eastern boundary of the said
Section 137 to its easternmost corner; thence by a right line through
Lot 12A on D.P. 1550, being part of Subdivision E of Manchester
Block, to its easternmost corner; thence along the northern
boundaries of Lots 1 and 3 on D.P. 7211, being part of Subdivision E
of Manchester Block; thence northerly along the western boundaries
of Lots 76, and easterly along the northern boundary of Lot 76,
76A, 76B, 75, 75A, 75B, 74, 74A, 74B on D.P. 119, being parts of
Subdivision E of Manchester Block in Block X, Oroua Survey
District, and northerly along the western boundaries of Lots 72,
61, and 53 on D.P. 85, being parts Subdivision E of Manchester
Block in Block VI, Oroua Survey District, to a point at the inter-
section of the southern side of Makino Road; thence north-easterly
along a right line to a point on the north-eastern boundary of the
County of Oroua at its intersection in Block II, Oroua Survey
District, with the southern boundary of Benson’s Road; thence
generally south-easterly, south-westerly, and north-westerly by the
boundary of the County of Oroua aforesaid, to the point of
commencement.
All that portion of County of Kiwitea, bounded by a line
commencing at a point on the south-western boundary of the County
of Kiwitea (New Zealand Gazette, 1926, page 3515), at the intersection
in Block III, Oroua Survey District, with the southern side of
Benson’s Road; thence proceeding easterly along the southern
side of Benson’s Road to its intersection with the eastern side of
Sinclair’s Road; thence northerly along the eastern side of Sinclair’s
Road to the south-western corner of Section 296, Block XV, Ongo
Survey District; thence easterly along the southern boundaries of
Sections 296, 297, and 298, and northerly along the eastern boundary
of Section 298, Block XV, Ongo Survey District, and easterly and
northerly along the southern and eastern boundaries of Section 25,
Block XV, Ongo Survey District, to and across to the north-western
side of Waituna Valley Road; thence generally north-easterly
along the north-western side of Waituna Valley Road and Kiwitea-
Tapuae Road in Blocks XVI and XII, Ongo Survey District, and
Blocks IX, V, and II, Apiti Survey District, to its intersection with
the southern side of Tutaewhio Road; thence again north-easterly
along a right line passing through Lot 1 on D.P. 2061, being portion
of Otamakapua 1K, Sections 62 and 74, Block II, Apiti Survey
District, and Section 73, Block XIV, Hautāpu Survey District, to
the intersection of the eastern side of Ruāe Road and the southern
side of Watershed Road ; thence easterly generally along the
southern side of the said Watershed Road, the western and southern

Umutoi Survey District; thence to and along the southern boundary
of the said Section 19 to its intersection with the western boundary

northerly along a right line passing through State Forest Reserve

commencing on the south-eastern boundary of the County of Eketa-
huna (New Zealand Gazette, 1932, page 1244) at the south-western
corner of Section 164, Block XV, Puketoi Survey District; thence
proceeding northerly and westerly along the eastern and northern
boundaries of Section 169 and the northern boundary of Section 170,
Block XV, Puketoi Survey District; thence generally in southerly
and westerly directions along the southern boundaries of Lots 1 and
2 on D.P. 2130, being portions of Section 151, Rangitumau Block
in Block XIV, Puketoi Survey District, and the eastern boundary
of Lot 7 on D.P. 1331, being portion of Section 210, Rangitumau
Block in Block XIII, Puketoi Survey District, and Block I, Manga-
pakeha Survey District, to the boundary of the County of Eketahuna;
thence generally in westerly, northerly, easterly, southerly, and

commencing at a point on the boundary of the County of Maurice-
ville (New Zealand Gazette, 1917, page 2515) at the north-eastern
corner of Lot 1 on D.P. 665, being portion of Section 132, Block XIII,
Mangaone Survey District; thence proceeding southerly along the
eastern boundary of the said Lot 1, and easterly, southerly, and
westerly along the northern, eastern, and southern boundaries of
Section 129, Block XIII, Mangaone Survey District, to and across
the Mount Monro Road; thence northerly along the western side
of the said Mount Monro Road to the south-eastern boundary of
Section 171, Block XIII, Mangaone Survey District; thence south-
westerly along the eastern boundaries of Sections 171, 172, and 174,
Block XIII, Mangaone Survey District; thence westerly along the
southern boundaries of Section 174, Block XIII, Mangaone Survey

All that portion of County of Hutt, bounded by a line com-
mencing at a point on the boundary of the County of Hutt (New
Zealand Gazette, 1941, pages 1558-1559) at Mount Hector in Block I,
Eritonga Survey District; thence proceeding southerly along the
boundary of the County of Hutt to the northern boundary of water-
supply area, described in Clause 4 of the Wellington City and
Suburban Water-supply Act, 1927; thence westerly generally
along the northern boundary of water-supply area aforesaid,
Block I, Eritonga Survey District, and Block IV, Akatarawa Survey
District, to and along the southern boundaries of Sections 12 and
3, the southern and western boundaries of Section 1, Block III,
Akatarawa Survey District, and the northern and western bound-
aries of Section 415, Hutt District, Block II, Akatarawa Survey
District, to a point in line with the northern side of Odlin’s Road;
thence to and along the northern side of Odlin’s Road to the eastern-
most corner of Section 13, Block I, Akatarawa Survey District;
thence westerly along the southern boundary of the said Section 13
to its southernmost corner; thence north-westerly along the south-
western boundary of said Section 13 for a distance of approximately
35 chains to its intersection with the watershed; thence south-
westerly and westerly along the watershed in Blocks I and V,
Akatarawa Survey District, and Block IV, Paekakariki Survey
District, passing through trig. stations Maunganui and Titi, to its
intersection with the eastern side of Phillips Road ; thence northerly
along the eastern side of Phillips Road and the northern boundary
of Sections 95 and 94, Block II, Paekakariki Survey District, to a
point in line with the eastern boundary of Section 78, Block II,
Paekakariki Survey District; thence to and along the eastern bound-
aries of Sections 78, 79, 80, 81, 82, and 83, Block II, Paekakariki
Survey District, and Sections 2 and 1, Block I, Akatarawa Survey
