CROWN LANDS NOTICES
Land in the Southland Land District forfeited
Department of Lands and Survey, Wellington, 19th July, 1943.
NOTICE is hereby given that the leases of the undermentioned lands having been declared forfeit by resolution of the Southland Land Board, the said lands have thereby reverted to the Crown under the provisions of the Land Act, 1924.

Land in North Auckland Land District for Selection on Optional Tenure
North Auckland District Lands and Survey Office,
Auckland, 21st July, 1941.
NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned section is open for selection on optional tenure under the Land Act, 1924; and applications will be received at the North Auckland District Lands and Survey Office, Auckland, up to 3 o’clock p.m. on Monday, 16th August, 1943.
Applicants should appear personally for examination at the North Auckland District Lands and Survey Office, Auckland, on Wednesday, 18th August, 1943, at 10.30 o’clock a.m., but if any applicant is unable to attend he may be examined by any other Land Board or by any Commissioner of Crown Lands. Applicants are required to produce documentary evidence of their financial position and farming experience.
The ballot will be held immediately upon conclusion of the examination of applicants, and the successful applicant is required to pay immediately at conclusion of ballot a deposit comprising the first half-year’s rent, broken-period rent, lease fee, and deposit in reduction of weighting for improvements.
SCHEDULE
NORTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.—SECOND-CLASS LAND
Whangaroa County.—Totara Parish
ALLOTMENT 20: Area, 295 acres 3 roods. Capital value, £150. Deposit on deferred payments, £10: Half-yearly instalment on deferred payments (term: ten years), £9 3s. 11d. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £3 15s.
Weighted with £505 6s. for improvements, comprising 34 acres ploughed and grassed, 20 acres surface sown, dwelling, old cowshed, two sheds, framework for new cowshed, half-share in 142 chains of boundary-fencing, 275 chains subdivision fencing.
This sum is payable in cash, or, after payment of a deposit of £35 6s., the balance may be paid: (1) By a loading of £290 to the Crown repayable over ten years by half-yearly instalments of £18 4s. 11d., principal and interest; (2) a mortgage to the outgoing lessee for £180 repayable over ten years by half-yearly instalments of £11 6s. 6d., principal and interest.
This property is situated on a metalled side road half a mile from the Main Kaeo–Mangonui Road, about five miles from Saies School and Post-office, and thirty-six miles from Okaihau Railway-station; cream stand half a mile away. Rolling to steep hill country, about two-thirds ploughable; 54 acres in poor grass, 4 acres light bush, balance in light manuka and fern partly burnt. Soil is volcanic; area well watered by permanent stream. Elevation 250 ft. to 500 ft. above sea-level.

Applicants are required to produce documentary evidence of their farming experience and financial position.

Weighted with £120 (payable in cash) for improvements, comprising buildings, fencing, clearing, grassing, and ditching.
Flat, arable land situated one mile and a quarter from Waimatua Railway-station. Approximately 140 acres would provide good rough feed for dry stock, or winter grazing for dairy cattle—balance peaty swamp. The section is not suitable as a separate holding, but would work in with other land.

STATE FOREST SERVICE NOTICE
Milling-timber for Sale by Public Tender
State Forest Service,
Hokitika, 21st July, 1943.
NOTICE is hereby given that written tenders for the purchase of the undermentioned milling-timber will close at the office of the State Forest Service, Hokitika, at 4 o’clock p.m. on Friday, 6th August, 1943.
SCHEDULE
WESTLAND CONSERVANCY.—WESTLAND LAND DISTRICT
ALL the milling-timber on that piece of land containing 225 acres, situated in Block II, Hohonu Survey District, State Forest No. 32, approximately ten miles from South Beach Railway-station.
The total estimated quantity of timber in cubic feet is 515,200, or in board feet 3,353,000, made up as follows:—

Terms of Payment
A marked cheque for a deposit of one-tenth of the purchase-money, together with £1 1s. license fee, must accompany the tender, and the balance be paid in eighteen equal monthly instalments, the first of which shall be made one month after the date of sale.
Special Condition
The successful tenderer shall be liable for payment for any damage caused by fire on the above-mentioned area during the term of the license.
Terms and Conditions

All instalment-payments shall be secured by “on demand” promissory notes made and endorsed to the satisfaction of the Commissioner of State Forests, and interest at the rate of 1 per cent. per annum in excess of current bank overdraft rates will be charged on all notes overdue from the date of maturity to the date of payment.

The right to cut and remove the timber will be sold in accordance with the provisions of the Forests Act, 1921–22, the regulations in force thereunder, and these conditions.

The aforementioned qualities, quantities, and kinds as to the said timber shall be taken as sufficiently accurate for the purposes of this sale, and no contract for the purchase shall be voidable, nor shall the successful purchaser be entitled to any abatement in price by reason of the said timber being of less quantity, quality, or kind as stated herein or in any advertisement having reference to the said timber.
