Suburban Land in Wellington Land District for Selection on Renewable Lease

District Lands and Survey Office,
Wellington, 8th June, 1943.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned property is open for selection on renewable lease under the Land Act, 1924; and applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, State Fire Building, Wellington, up to 4 o’clock p.m. on Friday, 23rd July, 1943.

Applicants should appear personally for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office, Wellington, on Wednesday, 28th July, 1943, at 10.30 o’clock a.m., but if any applicant is unable to attend he may be examined by any other Land Board or by any Commissioner of Crown Lands. Applicants will require to produce evidence of their financial position and farming experience.

The ballot will be held immediately upon conclusion of the examination of applicants, and the successful applicant is required to pay immediately at conclusion of ballot a deposit comprising the first half-year’s rent, broken-period rent, weighting for improvements, and lease fee.

(Exempt from payment of half the rent for three years.*)

PART Ngamutawa Block, being Lot 3, D.P. 4810, Block IV: Area, 10 acres. Capital value, £550; half-yearly rent, £13 15s.

• Exemption from payment of half the rent is conditional on improvements to the value of the rent being effected each year during the exemption period in addition to the improvements ordinarily required under the Land Act.

Weighted with £50 (payable in cash) for improvements, comprising felling and stumping and 20 chains fencing.

This section is situated in Masterton Borough, fronting Ngamutawa Road, about a quarter of a mile from the Railway-station and one mile and a half from the Post-office; Whatman School is about half a mile away. Access is from Akura Road or Upper Renall Street, which are about half a mile distant. Borough drainage, gas, and water are not available, the nearest point to which they are laid being about half a mile away. The soil is very fertile alluvial loam resting on shingle and clay; 6 acres heavy silt and clay, 4 acres silt, clay, and shingle. Watered by spring and hand pump over a bore.
