Members of Whangarei Maori Council appointed.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to appoint, pursuant to the Maori Councils Act, 1900, and its amendments,—

Nai Tairua and Friday Pirihi

to be members of the Maori Council for the Whangarei Maori District, vice Hohepa te Hura, resigned, and Maki Pirihi, deceased.

Notice of Intention to take Additional Land for a Post-office in the Borough of Tauranga.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, to take the land described in the Schedule hereto for a post-office: And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Tauranga and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Works at Wellington.


SCHEDULE.

APPROXIMATE area of the piece of additional land required to be taken: 32 perches.

Being Allotment 191, Section 1, Town of Tauranga.

Situated in Block X, Tauranga Survey District (Borough of Tauranga).

In the Auckland Land District; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 116912, deposited in the office of the Minister of Works at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.

As witness my hand at Wellington, this 28th day of April, 1943.

The Tramways Industry Labour Legislation Modification Order 1943.

IN pursuance of the Labour Legislation Emergency Regulations 1940, the Minister of Labour doth hereby order as follows:—

  1. This Order may be cited as the Tramways Industry Labour Legislation Modification Order 1943.

  2. This Order applies to all workers who are bound by awards and industrial agreements to which the New Zealand Tramways Authorities Employees’ Industrial Union of Workers is a party and to the employers of such workers.

  3. The provisions of the awards and industrial agreements referred to in clause 2 hereof are hereby modified to the extent that the said workers or any of them may be required to work on an additional day in any week subject to the following conditions, namely:—

(1) Any worker required in pursuance of this Order to work in any week on a day which except for the provisions of this Order would not be a working-day for such worker, shall be given a minimum of eight hours work, and shall be paid for all time worked on such day at the rate of time and a half. In all other respects the conditions of the relevant award or industrial agreement shall apply:

(2) Sunday shall not be regarded as an additional day under this Order.

  1. This Order shall come into effect on the day of the date hereof.

  2. The Tramways Industry Labour Legislation Modification Order 1942,* is revoked.

Delegation of Powers under the Economic Stabilization Emergency Regulations 1942.

PURSUANT to Regulation 45 of the Economic Stabilization Emergency Regulations 1942, the Minister of Industries and Commerce has delegated to every Inspector of Factories holding office under section 3 (1) of the Factories Act, 1921–22, the powers vested in him by Regulation 44 of the said regulations.
