IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred on me by the Maori Births and Deaths Registration Regulations 1935, I, Percy Harold Wylde, Deputy Registrar-General, do hereby appoint Whetu Wiremu

The Shipping Control (Akaroa Harbour) Notice 1943.
PURSUANT to the Shipping Control Emergency Regulations 1939,* the Naval Board hereby gives notification as follows:—
-
This notification may be cited as the Shipping Control (Akaroa Harbour) Notice 1943.

This notification shall take effect on the day following the date of publication thereof in the Gazette.
-
No master or person in charge of any ship to which the Shipping Control Emergency Regulations 1939 for the time being apply shall cause or permit the ship to be anchored in any part of the waters described in the Schedule hereto.

No master or person in charge of any ship engaged in fishing, being a ship to which the Shipping Control Emergency Regulations 1939 for the time being apply, shall cause or permit the ship while so engaged to be in any part of the waters described in the Schedule hereto.

Except with the previous permission of the Naval Officer in Charge at Lyttelton, and in accordance with any orders and directions given by that officer, no master or person in charge of any ship to which the Shipping Control Emergency Regulations 1939 for the time being apply shall cause or permit the ship to be in any part of the waters described in the Schedule hereto.
SCHEDULE.
PROHIBITED PASSAGE.
THE waters in Akaroa Harbour within the following limits: From Nine Fathom Point (lat. 43° 51' S., long. 172° 56' 30" E.) in a 158° direction for 6 cables; thence in a 282° direction to a point 6 cables south of Dark Point; thence to a point 4 cables north of Dark Point; thence in a 102° direction for 13 cables to a point 3½ cables north of Nine Fathom Point.

The Shipping Safety (Akaroa Harbour) Order 1943.
PURSUANT to Regulation 4a of the Shipping Safety Emergency Regulations 1940,* the Minister of Defence doth hereby make the following Order:—

This Order may be cited as the Shipping Safety (Akaroa Harbour) Order 1943.

This Order shall take effect on the day following the date of publication thereof in the Gazette.

This Order shall apply with respect to all small craft, as defined in the Shipping Safety Emergency Regulations 1940†, to which the Shipping Control Emergency Regulations 1939‡ do not apply.

No master or person in charge of any small craft to which this Order applies shall cause or permit the vessel to be anchored in any part of the waters described in the Schedule hereto.

No master or person in charge of any small craft engaged in fishing, being a small craft to which this Order applies, shall cause or permit the vessel while so engaged to be in any part of the waters described in the Schedule hereto.

Boundaries of Defence Areas redefined.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve under section 3, Defence Act, 1909, that the notice published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 39, dated 8th May, 1941, defining the boundaries of Areas No. 1 and No. 3, be cancelled, and the following substituted with effect from 16th March, 1943:
NO. 1 AREA (HEADQUARTERS, AUCKLAND).
All that area comprising the counties of Manukau, Franklin, Waitemata, and Eden, together with all boroughs and town districts lying within such counties; the boroughs of Devonport, Takapuna, Northcote, Birkenhead, and New Lynn, and the City of Auckland. This area will also include Great Barrier and Little Barrier Islands, and all islands in the Hauraki Gulf, excluding Kawau Island.
NO. 3 AREA (HEADQUARTERS, WHANGAREI).
All that area comprising the counties of Mangonui, Whangaroa, Hokianga, Bay of Islands, Hobson, Whangarei, Otamatea, Rodney, together with all boroughs and town districts lying within or contiguous to the boundaries of such counties, other than the boroughs of Devonport, Takapuna, Northcote, Birkenhead, and New Lynn, but including Kawau Island in the Hauraki Gulf.

Appointing Districts and Places for Payment of Sales Tax under the Sales Tax Act, 1932–33.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 4 of the Sales Tax Act, 1932–33, I, Arnold Henry Nordmeyer, Acting Minister of Customs, do hereby revoke so much of the Schedule to the Warrant of appointment made by the Minister of Customs on 27th March, 1933, and published in the New Zealand Gazette on 28th March, 1933 (under which certain districts and places were appointed for the purpose of collecting sales tax) as is set forth in the First Schedule hereto:
And I do hereby appoint the districts mentioned in Column No. 1 of the Second Schedule hereto as districts for the purpose of collecting sales tax as imposed by the said Act, and I direct that each such district shall respectively comprise the counties the names of which are set opposite to the name of such district in Column No. 2 of the said Second Schedule, and all boroughs and town districts which are within the outer boundaries of those counties or which are bounded by those counties or are between those counties or any part thereof and the sea:
And I do further appoint that the place mentioned in Column No. 3 of the said Second Schedule opposite the name of any district shall be the place in the said district at which sales tax shall be paid:
Provided that with respect to goods liable to sales tax under paragraph (c) of subsection (1) of section 11 of the said Act the following special provision shall apply, namely:—
Where the goods are imported by post and entered for home consumption under the Customs Act, 1913, at any post-office, sales tax shall be payable at the post-office at which the goods are so entered or are deemed to be so entered.
