Appointments in the Public Service.

THE Public Service Commissioner has made the following appointments in the Public Service:—
Constable Francis Fiven Healy
To be Bailiff of the Magistrates' Court at Hawera for the purposes of the Magistrates' Court Act, 1928, on and from the 1st day of March, 1943.
John Lawrence Grigg
To be an Analyst for the purposes of the Fertilizers Act, 1927, on and from the 1st day of March, 1943.
John William Durey Mardon
To be District Public Trustee for the District of Stratford at Stratford for the purposes of the Public Trust Office Amendment Act, 1921–22, on and from the 16th day of March, 1943.
William Robert Millier
To be District Public Trustee for the District of Greymouth at Greymouth for the purposes of the Public Trust Office Amendment Act, 1921–22, on and from 1st day of April, 1942.
Florence Marie Harsant (Mrs.)
To be Registrar of Marriages and of Births and Deaths for the District of Matata, on and from the 15th day of February, 1943, and Registrar of Births and Deaths of Maoris at Matata, on and from the 15th day of February, 1943.
Dympna Agnes O'Brien (Miss)
To be Deputy Registrar of Births and Deaths of Maoris at Half-moon Bay, on and from the 22nd day of February, 1943.

Westport Commodities Delivery Notice 1943.
PURSUANT to Regulation 4 of the Delivery Emergency Regulations 1942, the Minister of Transport doth hereby give notice as follows:—

This notice may be cited as the Westport Commodities Delivery Notice 1943.

This notice shall come into force on the seventh day after the date of publication thereof in the Gazette.

The scheme set out in the Schedule hereto is hereby provided for the district described in the Schedule hereto.
SCHEDULE.
WESTPORT COMMODITIES DELIVERY SCHEME, 1943.
(1) For the purposes of this scheme, unless the context otherwise requires,—
“‘The district” means the area within a radius of one mile and a half from the Chief Post-office, Westport:
“Wholesale purchaser” means a person who purchases commodities for resale or for transport to an area outside the district or for consumption at a military camp, hotel, hospital, or similar institution requiring large supplies of commodities;
“Commodities” means bread, meat, and groceries.
(2) It shall be a condition of this scheme that commodities shall be delivered within the district as follows and not otherwise:—
(a) Bread or meat may be delivered to the premises of wholesale purchasers only, subject, in the case of meat, to the provisions of clause (b) hereafter:
(b) Meat may be delivered in the district by any vendor to any person, whether or not that person is a wholesale purchaser, on such three days in any week during the months of December, January, and February in each year and on such two days in any week during the months of March to November (inclusive) in each year, as the Minister or Zoning Officer shall from time to time appoint in respect of the scheme.
(c) Groceries shall not be delivered for any one household or person—
(i) On Saturday to Monday (inclusive) in any week:
(ii) On more than one occasion in any week.

The Timber Industry Labour Legislation Modification Order 1941, Amendment No. 1.
IN pursuance of the Labour Legislation Emergency Regulations 1940, the Minister of Labour doth hereby order as follows :—
-
This Order may be cited as the Timber Industry Labour Legislation Modification Order 1941, Amendment No. 1.

This Order shall be read together with and deemed part of the Timber Industry Labour Legislation Modification Order 1941 (hereinafter referred to as “the principal Order”).
-
Clause 3 of the principal Order is amended by adding to paragraph (1) thereof the following proviso:—
“Provided that this extension of the period for the making up of time lost shall not apply if such lost time be due to causes outside the control of the worker.”
- This Order shall come into effect on the day of the date hereof.

Exemption Order under the Transport Legislation Emergency Regulations 1940.
PURSUANT to the Transport Legislation Emergency Regulations 1940, the Minister of Transport doth hereby order and declare that the provisions of clause (1) of Regulation 7 of the Motor-drivers Regulations 1940, so far as they relate to drivers of heavy trade-motors shall not apply to Maurice Edmund Tod, of Otane.

Exemption Order under the Transport Legislation Emergency Regulations 1940.
PURSUANT to the Transport Legislation Emergency Regulations 1940, the Minister of Transport doth hereby order and declare that the provisions of clause (1) of Regulation 7 of the Motor-drivers Regulations 1940, so far as they relate to drivers of taxi-cabs, shall not apply to John Joseph Dempsey, of Tokaanu.

The Wellington and Hutt Valley Groceries Delivery Scheme, 1942, Amendment No. 1.
PURSUANT to the Delivery Emergency Regulations 1942,* the Minister of Transport doth hereby give notice as follows :—

This notice may be cited as the Wellington and Hutt Valley Groceries Delivery Scheme, 1942, Amendment No. 1, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Wellington and Hutt Valley Groceries Delivery Scheme, 1942† (hereinafter referred to as “the principal scheme”).

The principal scheme is hereby amended by deleting from clause (8) the following words :—
“by motor vehicle” and by inserting at the end of clause (9) the following :——
“The Self Help Co-op., Ltd., Wellington.
“Star Stores (N.I.), Ltd., Wellington.
“Hill Bros., Ltd., Wellington.”

THE following special order made by the Te Aroha Borough Council on the 24th day of February, 1943, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Noxious Weeds Act, 1928.
“SPECIAL ORDER.
“In exercise of the powers conferred on it by section 4 of the Noxious Weeds Act, 1928, the Te Aroha Borough Council hereby resolves and declares, by way of special order, that the plants mentioned in the Schedule hereto (being plants mentioned in the Second Schedule of the said Act) are noxious weeds within the Borough of Te Aroha.
“SCHEDULE.
“(a) Fennel (Foeniculum vulgare).
“(b) Gorse (Ulex europaeus).”
