Exemption Order under the Transport Legislation Emergency Regulations 1940.

PURSUANT to the Transport Legislation Emergency Regulations 1940, the Minister of Transport doth hereby order and declare that the provisions of clause (1) of Regulation 7 of the Motor-drivers Regulations 1940, so far as they relate to drivers of heavy trade-motors, shall not apply to Rex Miller, of Te Kuiti.

The Transport Legislation (Railways Goods-service License) Emergency Order 1942.

PURSUANT to the Transport Legislation Emergency Regulations 1940,* the Minister of Transport doth hereby order and declare as follows:

  1. This Order may be cited as the Transport Legislation (Railways Goods-service License) Emergency Order 1942.

  2. In respect of the goods-service license described in the Schedule hereto the provisions of subclause (3) of clause 18 of the Transport (Goods) Applied Provisions Order 1942† are hereby suspended so far as they require a public sitting to be held for the purpose of reviewing the license not less than fourteen clear days after the giving of a notification under subclause (2) of the said clause 18, and so far as those provisions are amended by the Transport Licensing Emergency Regulations 1940, Amendment No. 1‡.

Timber Control Notice No. 50.

NOTICE is hereby given that, in pursuance of the Supply Control Emergency Regulations 1939 and the Timber Emergency Regulations 1939, the Timber Controller hereby requires and directs as follows:

  1. This notice may be cited as the Timber Control Notice No. 50.

  2. This notice shall come into force on the day following publication thereof in the Gazette.

  3. No proprietor or owner, within the meaning of the said regulations, of any Oregon or Douglas Fir (Pseudotsuga taxifolia) timber (hereinafter referred to as “the said timber”) shall saw or otherwise convert, or use, sell, supply, dispose of, or part with the possession of the same except with the precedent consent of the Timber Controller.

  4. No person shall purchase, agree to purchase, offer to purchase, or otherwise acquire from any proprietor or owner, any of the said timber except with the precedent consent of the Timber Controller.

  5. Every proprietor or owner shall within the first three days of each calendar month deliver to the Timber Controller, Box 1, Government Buildings, Wellington, a statement of the sizes and quantities of the said timber held by him at the end of the immediately preceding month.

  6. (a) The notice relating to Oregon or Douglas Fir and Redwood timbers published in the Gazette of the 11th April, 1940, at page 705, is hereby amended by revoking clauses (1), (2), and (3), and by omitting from clause (7) the words “not less than 5,000 board feet of Oregon or Douglas Fir, or”;

(b) Timber Control Notice No. 37 (published in the Gazette of the 27th February, 1942, at page 610) is hereby revoked.

Obstruction and Lighted Buoy established.

Position: Wharf, Motukorea (Browns Island). Lat., 36° 49' 6 S.; long., 174° 53' 8 E. (approx.).

Details: An obstruction has been established across Motukorea Channel from position 270° 0·5 cable from inner end of above wharf to a lighted black buoy in position 250° 5 cables from Iliomana Rock Beacon.

The buoy exhibits a fixed red light.

All vessels must pass northward of the lighted buoy.

Charts affected: Nos. 1896 and 1970.

PURSUANT to the Law Practitioners Amendment Act, 1935, notice is hereby given that the Disciplinary Committee of the New Zealand Law Society on the 18th day of September, 1942, ordered that the name of Charles Ellis Waddingham, of Auckland, be restored to the Rolls of Barristers and Solicitors of the Supreme Court of New Zealand.

PURSUANT to the Law Practitioners Amendment Act, 1935, notice is hereby given that the Disciplinary Committee of the New Zealand Law Society on the 18th day of September, 1942, ordered that the name of Horace McCormick, of Wellington, be removed from the Rolls of Barristers and Solicitors of the Supreme Court of New Zealand.

Law Practitioners Amendment Act, 1935.

PURSUANT to the Law Practitioners Amendment Act, 1935, notice is hereby given that the Disciplinary Committee of the New Zealand Law Society on the 18th day of September, 1942, ordered that Edward Sidney Stafford, of Wellington, be suspended from practice as a barrister and solicitor of the Supreme Court of New Zealand for the period of one year from the 18th September, 1942, and that he pay five guineas costs.

Notice to Persons affected by Applications for Licenses under Part III of the Industrial Efficiency Act, 1936.

Taking of Fish for Sale.

An application has been received from J. Cavallaro, Napier, for a variation in the conditions of his existing license issued in respect of the “Gladdy,” NR. 304, to permit the use of trawl-nets on this fishing-vessel in addition to set-nets, drag-nets, long lines, and hand-lines, catches to be landed at Napier.

An application has been received from A. L. Clark, 48 Tomahawk Road, Anderson’s Bay, Dunedin, for a variation in the conditions of his existing license so that it be applicable to the “Valerie II” (to be registered), using long lines, hand-lines, set-nets, drag-nets, and crayfish-pots, catches to be landed at Port Chalmers.

Any persons who consider they will be materially affected by the decisions of the Bureau of Industry on the above applications, and who wish to make representations accordingly, must furnish in writing not later than the 19th November, 1942.

Notice calling up Reservists for Service with the Armed Forces.

IT is hereby notified for general information that, in pursuance of the powers vested in me by Regulation 44 of the National Service Emergency Regulations 1940, I have, on the 5th November, 1942, issued to—

Gilbert Jones, Farmer, Matua Road, Huapai, Registration No. 634954,

Walter Roy Webster, Salesman, 77 Cambridge Terrace, Wellington, Registration No. 634953, and

Walter Kennedy, Mechanic, care of Mrs. J. Piropano, Winchester Street, Levin, Registration No. 634975,

notices calling them up for service with the Armed Forces, such persons having been severally convicted for that, being reservists belonging to a division of the Reserve the enrolment of which has been proclaimed, they did fail to make application in writing for enrolment in that class of the Reserve as required by Regulation 43 (1) of the National Service Emergency Regulations 1940.
