to be Clerk of the Magistrates' Court at Eketahuna for the purposes of the Magistrates' Courts Act, 1928, and Maintenance Officer at the Magistrates' Court at Eketahuna for the purposes of the Destitute Persons Amendment Act, 1926, on and from the 1st day of January, 1942.
William Ernest Mudge
to be Registrar of Marriages for the District of Balfour for the purposes of the Marriage Act, 1908, and Registrar of Births and Deaths for the District of Balfour for the purposes of the Births and Deaths Registration Act, 1924, on and from the 9th day of December, 1941.
John Garfield Mitchell
to be an Inspector for the purposes of the Stock Act, 1908, on and from the 10th day of December, 1941.
Roger Gale Henry
to be Deputy Registrar of Births and Deaths of Maoris at Tauranga, on and from the 12th day of January, 1942.

Customs Holidays.—Anniversary Days.

IT is notified for public information that notwithstanding the appointment of certain days as public holidays to be kept annually by the Customs, as set forth in the New Zealand Gazette of 1917 at page 964, and in the New Zealand Gazette of 1923 at page 880, at the particular port or ports indicated to commemorate the foundation of that part of New Zealand in which such port is situated, the following days shall not be kept as public holidays by the Customs in the year 1942:
22nd January at the ports of Wellington and Wanganui.
29th January at the ports of Auckland and Gisborne.
1st February at the ports of Nelson and Westport.
23rd March at the ports of Oamaru, Dunedin, and Invercargill.
31st March at the ports of New Plymouth and Patea.
1st November at the port of Wairau.
1st December at the ports of Greymouth and Hokitika.
16th December at the ports of Lyttelton and Timaru.
