Exemption Order under the Transport Legislation Emergency Regulations 1940.

PURSUANT to the Transport Legislation Emergency Regulations 1940, the Minister of Transport doth hereby order and declare that the provisions of clause (1) of Regulation 7 of the Motor-drivers Regulations 1940, so far as they relate to the driver of a heavy trade motor, shall not apply to Ken Piper, of Wellington, and Maurice Glanville Reeve, of Matamata, and, so far as they relate to the driver of a motor-omnibus, shall not apply to Avis Maude Beavis, of Waimauku.

Waipa County By-law, 1942.

IN terms of section 25 (2) of the Motor-vehicles Act, 1924, as amended by section 6 (2) of the Transport Department Act, 1929, the Minister of Transport doth hereby disallow the following words in clause 4 of the said by-law—namely, the words: “C. Exceeds any speed specified in such notice” and the words “or at a greater speed.”

Warrant declaring Buildings and Places to be Detention Barracks.

WHEREAS it is provided by Regulation 476 of the Regulations for the New Zealand Military Forces 1927 that “detention barrack” means any building or place in the possession of the Crown (not being a prison or police-gaol under the Prisons Act, 1908), declared by the Minister of Defence, by Warrant gazetted, to be a detention barrack for the purpose of the Army Act:

Now, therefore, pursuant to the provisions of the said regulation, I, Frederick Jones, Minister of Defence for the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare each of the buildings and places known as—

The Detention Barrack, Trentham,

The Detention Barrack, Burnham,

The Detention Barrack, Ardmore,

to be a detention barrack for the purpose of the Army Act.

Defining Land in North Auckland Land District to which Water is supplied pursuant to Section 8 of the Land Laws Amendment Act, 1939.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred upon me by subsection (5) of section 8 the Land Laws Amendment Act, 1939, I, James Gillispie Barclay, for the Minister of Lands, hereby give notice that the land defined in the Schedule hereto is land to which water is supplied under the said section.


SCHEDULE.

NORTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.

ALL that area in the Bay of Islands County containing by admeasurement 272 acres 0 roods 20 perches, more or less, being Sections 1, 2, 3, and 4, Block IX, Kawakawa Survey District. As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 36/326A, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon edged red. (North Auckland plan S.O. 28039.)

Rangitaiki Land Drainage.—Notice of Intention to make and levy General Rates.

Department of Lands and Survey,
Wellington, 20th July, 1942.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is intended, pursuant to the Rangitaiki Land Drainage Act, 1910, and its amendments, to make and levy, on the unimproved value of all land within the district constituted under the said Act, the general rates to meet maintenance-costs for the period 1st April, 1942, to 31st March, 1943, as described in the Schedule hereto.

The amount of such rates will be payable in one sum on the 31st day of August, 1942, together with the special rates already made and levied.

The valuation roll of the district is open for inspection at the office of the Collector of Rates, Chief Drainage Engineer’s Office, Room 45, Government Buildings, Customs Street West, Auckland, and a copy of the same may be inspected at the office of the Land Drainage Engineer, at Thornton, near Whakatane, at all times at which those offices are open for the transaction of public business.


SCHEDULE.

Class A.—On the unimproved value of all lands classified as Class A by the arbitrators appointed under section 6 of the Rangitaiki Land Drainage Act, 1910, twopence and seventy-eight one-hundredths of a penny (2·78d.) in the pound.

Class B.—On the unimproved value of all lands so classified as Class B, one penny and eighty-six one-hundredths of a penny (1·86d.) in the pound.

Class C.—On the unimproved value of all lands so classified as Class C, ninety-three one-hundredths of a penny (0·93d.) in the pound.

Class D.—On the unimproved value of all lands so classified as Class D, thirty-one one-hundredths of a penny (0·31d.) in the pound.
