Christchurch and Area Bread Delivery Scheme, 1942, amended.
WHEREAS by a notice (hereinafter referred to as “the said notice”) published in the Gazette on the 5th day of March, 1942, at page 633, the Minister of Supply and Munitions, pursuant to Regulation 3 of the Delivery Emergency Regulations 1940, approved the Christchurch and Area Bread Delivery Scheme, 1942 (hereinafter referred to as “the scheme”):
And whereas the said regulations have been revoked by the Delivery Emergency Regulations 1942:
And whereas it is desired to amend the scheme for the purposes described hereunder:
Now, therefore, the Minister of Transport, pursuant to Regulation 6 of the Delivery Emergency Regulations 1942, doth hereby amend the scheme by appointing the members constituting from time to time the Executive Committee under Regulation 3 of the Christchurch Milk Delivery Emergency Regulations 1942, together with an additional member appointed by the Canterbury Master Bakers’ and Pastrycooks’ Industrial Union of Employers, as a committee to assist in the administration of the scheme, and to have the following powers and functions:—
(1) To receive and investigate complaints affecting the administration of the scheme;
(2) To advise the Minister on any matters relating to the scheme that may be referred to the committee by the Minister or that may be considered by it or its own motion;
(3) To make recommendations to the Minister for amending the scheme; and
(4) To regulate its procedure in such manner as it thinks fit.

The Shop and Offices Act, 1921–22, and its Amendments.—Prohibiting the Sale within the Borough of Waitara of certain Goods comprised in the Trade of a Tobacconist.
WHEREAS a petition in writing signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the tobacconists’ shops within the Borough of Waitara has been forwarded to me desiring that the sale of certain goods comprised in the trade of a tobacconist—namely, cigars, cigarettes, and tobacco—be prohibited during such time as the said shops are required to be closed in pursuance of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22:
And whereas I, Patrick Charles Webb, Minister of Labour, am satisfied that the sale of the said goods is comprised in the said trade within the said borough, and that the signatures to such petition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the said shops within the said borough:
Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 33 of the said Act, I do hereby direct that on and after the 10th day of August, 1942, the sale of the said goods within the said borough shall be and is hereby prohibited as follows: on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays after the hour of 5.30 p.m. and on Fridays after the hour of 9 p.m., with the following exception: On the working-day first preceding any of the special days mentioned in or coming within the meaning of section 26 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, the sale of the said goods is not prohibited.

The Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, and its Amendments.—Fixing the Closing-hours of Tobacconists’ Shops within the Borough of Waitara.
WHEREAS a requisition in writing has been forwarded to me from the occupiers of tobacconists’ shops within the Borough of Waitara pursuant to section 32 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22:
And whereas I, Patrick Charles Webb, Minister of Labour, am satisfied that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the said shops within the said borough:
Now, therefore, in pursuance of the said section 32, I do hereby direct that on and after the 10th day of August, 1942, all the said shops within the said borough shall be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: Subject to closing at not later than the prescribed hour on the day observed as the statutory closing-day, on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays at 5.30 p.m. and on Fridays at 9 p.m., with the following exception: On the working-day first preceding any of the special days mentioned in or coming within the meaning of section 26 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, there shall be no fixed closing-hour.
The notices gazetted on the 1st October, 1936 (a) fixing the closing-hours of tobacconists’ shops within the Borough of Waitara, and (b) prohibiting the sale within the Borough of Waitara of certain goods comprised in the trade of a tobacconist, shall be and are hereby cancelled as from the date of the coming into operation of this notice.

PURSUANT to the provisions of subsection (2) of section 48 of the Land for Settlements Act, 1925, notice is hereby given that the lands described in the Schedule hereto were acquired by the Crown on the dates specified in the said Schedule, and became subject to the provisions of the Land for Settlements Act, 1925, as from those dates.

National Service Emergency Regulations 1940.—Declaration of Essential Industry (No. 93).
IN pursuance of the powers conferred upon him by Regulation 9 of the National Service Emergency Regulations 1940, the Minister of National Service doth hereby declare the operations of all commercial laundry factories and all dry cleaning and dyeing works, except in respect of any such concerns owned and operated by persons of Chinese origin, to be an essential industry for the purposes of those regulations.

National Service Emergency Regulations 1940.—Declaration of Essential Industry (No. 94).
IN pursuance of the powers conferred upon him by Regulation 9 of the National Service Emergency Regulations 1940, the Minister of National Service doth hereby declare all building and construction works being carried out under the Earthquake Damage Labour Legislation Suspension Order 1942 to be an essential industry for the purposes of those regulations.
