Arbor Day, 1942.

Department of Internal Affairs,
Wellington, 14th July, 1942.

IT is hereby notified that Wednesday, 5th August, 1942, is
to be observed as Arbor Day, and, in view of the national
importance of tree-planting, local bodies throughout New
Zealand are requested to organize suitable celebrations on
that date.

Where on account of local climatic conditions in any district
the 5th August is deemed unsuitable, the local bodies affected
are invited to observe some other suitable day in that month.

Result of Election of Member of the Eltham Fire Board by
Fire-insurance Companies.

THE following result of the election of a member of the
Eltham Fire Board has been reported to the Minister
of Internal Affairs, and is notified in accordance with the
rules under the Fire Brigades Act, 1926 :—

National Service Emergency Regulations 1940.—
Declaration of Essential Industry (No. 91).

IN pursuance of the powers conferred upon him by
Regulation 9 of the National Service Emergency
Regulations 1940, the Minister of National Service doth
hereby declare the boot and shoe repairing industry to be
an essential industry for the purposes of those regulations.

Amendment to Declaration of Essential Undertakings
(No. 16).

IN pursuance of the powers conferred upon him by
Regulation 9 of the National Service Emergency
Regulations 1940, the Minister of National Service doth
hereby amend the Declaration of Essential Undertakings
(No. 16) by including therein the undertakings set forth
hereunder:—
