The Nickel-chromium Wire Control Notice 1942.

PURSUANT to the Factory Emergency Regulations 1939, I, George Augustus Pascoe, Factory Controller, hereby direct and give notice as follows:—

1. This Notice may be cited as the Nickel-chromium Wire Control Notice 1942.

2. This Notice shall come into force on the day next following the date of publication hereof in the Gazette.

3. Compliance with this Notice may be excused or varied by the express prior consent in writing of the Factory Controller and subject to such conditions as may be specified in such consent.

4. Any such consent may at any time be withdrawn by notice in writing by the Factory Controller to the person to whom such consent was given.

5. After the coming into force of this Notice, no person being the occupier of a factory or the owner of factory materials shall use nickel-chromium resistance wire or ribbon for any purpose other than the purposes set out in the Schedule hereto without the precedent consent in writing of the Factory Controller.

6. In making application for any consent under the last preceding clause hereof the applicant shall state:—

(a) (In the case of the repair of electrical appliances)—

(1) The name of the repairer ;
(2) Description and number of appliances to be repaired ;
(3) Weight of each gauge of nickel-chromium wire or ribbon required for the repair of each appliance.

(b) (In the case of the manufacture of electrical appliances)—

(1) The name of the manufacturer ;
(2) Description and number of appliances to be manufactured ;
(3) Weight of each gauge of nickel-chromium wire or ribbon required for the manufacture of each of the appliances ;
(4) The name of the ultimate user of the appliances, and the purpose for which the appliances are required, together with evidence that the purpose is an essential one.

7. Within fourteen days of the coming into force of this Notice every owner of nickel-chromium resistance wire or ribbon shall furnish in writing delivered to the Factory Controller a return of his stocks of such wire or ribbon stating the quantity of each gauge of each type held in stock.

8. At the end of each calendar month after the coming into force of this Notice every owner of nickel-chromium resistance wire or ribbon shall furnish in writing delivered to the Factory Controller a return stating therein the quantity of each gauge of such wire or ribbon held in stock at the end of that month, and the quantities of each gauge of such wire or ribbon used during that month.

SCHEDULE.

(a) The repair of the following domestic electrical appliances :—

(1) Electric fires.
(2) Electric irons.
(3) Electric jugs.
(4) Electric kettles.
(5) Electric radiators.
(6) Electric stoves, ranges, rangettes, and grillers.
(7) Electric water-heating installations.

(b) The manufacture of replacement elements for the aforesaid domestic electrical appliances.

Provided that nothing in this Schedule shall extend to any appliances other than an appliance commonly known as a domestic appliance.
