NOTICE is hereby given in pursuance of the Regulations Act, 1936, of the making of regulations and orders as under:—

The Electrical Appliances Control Notice 1942.
PURSUANT to the Factory Emergency Regulations 1939, I, George Augustus Pascoe, Factory Controller, hereby direct and give notice as follows:—

This Notice may be cited as the Electrical Appliances Control Notice 1942.

This Notice shall come into force on the day next following the date of publication hereof in the Gazette.

Compliance with this Notice may be excused or varied by the express prior consent in writing of the Factory Controller and subject to such conditions as may be specified in such consent.

Any such consent may at any time be withdrawn by notice in writing by the Factory Controller to the person to whom such consent was given.

After the coming into force of this Notice no person being the occupier of a factory or the owner of factory materials shall manufacture or cause to be manufactured any of the domestic electrical appliances enumerated in the Schedule hereto without the precedent consent of the Factory Controller.

Nevertheless, nothing in this Notice shall be deemed to prohibit the manufacture of replacement elements for the following domestic appliances, namely:—
(1) Electric fires.
(2) Electric irons.
(3) Electric jugs.
(4) Electric kettles.
(5) Electric radiators.
(6) Electric stoves, ranges, rangettes, and griller.
(7) Electric water-heating appliances.
Provided that nothing in the foregoing list shall extend to any appliance other than an appliance commonly known as a domestic appliance.
- An article shall be deemed to be included in the Schedule hereto if it is reasonably capable of being regarded as an article specified or comprised therein, or, in the case of articles described or defined therein with reference to the purposes for which they are used, if it is reasonably and conveniently capable of being used for such purpose, notwithstanding that the article may be put forward as intended for some other purpose or may in fact be capable of use or be generally used for some other purpose.
