PURSUANT to section sixty-five of the Cook Islands Act, 1915, and to an Order in Council made thereunder on the twenty-first day of March, one thousand nine hundred and sixteen, His Excellency the Governor-General doth hereby appoint

Angareu, of Veitatei,

to be a member of the Island Council of Mangaia during his pleasure as from the date hereof, in lieu of Okiruaiti (deceased).

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 6th day of January, 1942.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to confirm the following appointments, promotions, transfers, and relinquishments of temporary rank of officers on active service with the 2nd New Zealand Expeditionary Force overseas, vide List No. 49 :—

APPOINTMENTS.

Commands and Staff.

Lieutenant-Colonel (temp. Brigadier) A. S. Wilder, D.S.O., M.C., V.D., Central Infantry, relinquishes command of N.Z. Training Group, Maadi Camp, ceases to be seconded, and is appointed to command the 5th N.Z. Infantry Brigade, vice Brigadier J. Hargest, D.S.O., M.C., V.D., reported as missing. Dated 6th December, 1941.

Lieutenant-Colonel H. K. Kippenberger, D.S.O., Southern Infantry, relinquishes command of the 20th N.Z. Battalion, is appointed to command N.Z. Training Group, Maadi Camp, and is seconded. Dated 8th December, 1941.

Lieutenant-Colonel S. F. Allen, Central Infantry, relinquishes command of Central Infantry Training Depot, and is appointed to command 21st N.Z. Battalion, vice Lieutenant-Colonel J. M. Allen, killed in action. Dated 7th December, 1941.

Lieutenant-Colonel C. E. Weir, N.Z. Artillery, relinquishes command of 6th N.Z. Field Regiment, and is appointed C.R.A., N.Z. Division, vice Brigadier R. Miles, D.S.O., M.C., posted as missing. Dated 7th December, 1941.

Lieutenant-Colonel K. W. R. Glasgow, N.Z. Artillery, relinquishes command of 14th N.Z. Light Anti-aircraft Regiment, and is appointed to command 5th N.Z. Field Regiment, vice Lieutenant-Colonel K. W. Fraser, posted as missing. Dated 7th December, 1941.

Lieutenant-Colonel C. L. Walter, N.Z. Artillery, relinquishes command of N.Z. Artillery Training Depot, and is appointed to command 6th N.Z. Field Regiment. Dated 8th December, 1941.

Major (temp. Lieutenant-Colonel) S. M. Satterthwaite, Central Infantry, relinquishes the appointment of General Staff Officer (Staff Duties), Headquarters, 2nd New Zealand Expeditionary Force, is appointed to command 26th N.Z. Battalion, vice Lieutenant-Colonel J. R. Page, posted as missing, and remains seconded. Dated 8th December, 1941.

Major A. W. Greville, Central Infantry, relinquishes the appointment of second in command, 22nd N.Z. Battalion, and is appointed to command 24th N.Z. Battalion, vice Lieutenant-Colonel C. Shuttleworth, posted as missing. Dated 8th December, 1941.

Major J. M. Mitchell, N.Z. Artillery, relinquishes the appointment of second in command, 4th N.Z. Field Regiment, and is appointed to command 7th N.Z. Anti-tank Regiment, vice Lieutenant-Colonel T. H. E. Oakes, M.C., killed in action. Dated 8th December, 1941.

Major (temp. Lieutenant-Colonel) J. T. Burrows, Southern Infantry, relinquishes command of Southern Infantry Training Depot, and is appointed to command 20th N.Z. Battalion. Dated 8th December, 1941.

Major G. J. O. Stewart, D.S.O., N.Z. Artillery, relinquishes the appointment of second in command, N.Z. Artillery Training Depot, and is appointed to command N.Z. Artillery Training Depot. Dated 8th December, 1941.

Major D. A. Carty, N.Z. Artillery, relinquishes the appointment of second in command, 14th N.Z. Light Anti-aircraft Regiment, and is appointed to command 14th N.Z. Light Anti-aircraft Regiment. Dated 8th December, 1941.

Major J. D. Armstrong, Central Infantry, relinquishes the appointment of Brigade Major, N.Z. Training Group, Maadi Camp, is appointed Brigade Major, 5th N.Z. Infantry Brigade, vice Captain (temp. Major) T. W. Straker, reported as missing, and remains seconded. Dated 6th December, 1941.

Major T. C. V. Rabone, N.Z. Railway Construction and Maintenance Group, relinquishes command of 10th N.Z. Railway Construction Company, is appointed to command N.Z. Engineer and Ordnance Training Depot, and is seconded. Dated 19th November, 1941.

Captain (temp. Major) C. Clark, N.Z. Railway Construction and Maintenance Group, relinquishes command of N.Z. Engineer and Ordnance Training Depot, and ceases to be seconded. Dated 19th November, 1941.

Captain D. B. Cameron, Southern Infantry, is seconded for special duty with Eighth Army. Dated 23rd November, 1941.

Captain A. E. B. Burge, Central Infantry, ceases to be seconded for duty with Headquarters, Maadi Camp, is appointed Staff Captain, 5th N.Z. Infantry Brigade, vice Lieutenant (temp. Captain) W. W. Mason, reported as missing, and is seconded. Dated 6th December, 1941.

Captain S. Hardy, N.Z. Artillery, relinquishes command of N.Z. Port Detachment, Suez, and ceases to be seconded. Dated 1st December, 1941.

Lieutenant G. A. Possin, Central Infantry, relinquishes the appointment of Staff Captain, N.Z. Training Group, Maadi Camp, ceases to be seconded, and is seconded for special duty with Eighth Army. Dated 23rd November, 1941.

Lieutenant G. S. Roydhouse, 27th N.Z. (Machine Gun) Battalion, relinquishes the appointment of Deputy Assistant Provost Marshal, Maadi Camp, and remains seconded. Dated 30th November, 1941.

Lieutenant M. J. Coop, Southern Infantry, is appointed Deputy Assistant Provost Marshal, Maadi Camp, and remains seconded. Dated 30th November, 1941.

Lieutenant C. R. Leach, N.Z. Divisional Cavalry, is appointed to command N.Z. Port Detachment, Suez, and remains seconded. Dated 1st December, 1941.

2nd Lieutenant J. J. Garbett, Southern Infantry, is appointed Staff Captain, N.Z. Training Group, Maadi Camp, and is seconded. Dated 23rd November, 1941.
