Revoking the Declaration of Main Highways.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this 23rd day of May, 1942.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in him by section three of the Main Highways Act, 1922, and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby declare that as from the first day of April, one thousand nine hundred and forty-two, the portions of main highways described in the Schedule hereto shall cease to be main highways within the meaning and for the purposes of the Main Highways Act, 1922.

SCHEDULE.

HIGHWAY DISTRICT No. 17.

Dunedin—Duke’s Road Railway-station.—All that portion of the Dunedin—Duke’s Road Railway-station Main Highway, in the Taiori County, commencing at the south-western corner of Section 6, Block X, East Taieri Survey District, and proceeding thence generally in a south-easterly direction and terminating at a point fronting part Section 5 and Section 11, Block 1X, East Taieri Survey District, being a distance of 1 mile 32 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 114335, deposited in the office of the Main Highways Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured yellow.

Gladstone Highway.—All that portion of the Gladstone Main Highway, in the Taieri County, commencing at the south-western corner of Section 12, Block V, East Taieri Survey District, and proceeding thence generally in a north-westerly direction and terminating at the north-western corner of Section 12, Block V, East Taieri Survey District, being a distance of 35 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 114335, deposited in the office of the Main Highways Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured blue.

Alexander Dallas Park, Esquire, C.M.G., and Thomas Norman Smallwood, Esquire,

to be Joint Managing-Directors of the State Advances Corporation of New Zealand for a term of seven years commencing on the first day of July, one thousand nine hundred and forty-two.

PURSUANT to section four hundred and forty-two of the Native Land Act, 1931, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, doth hereby revoke an Order in Council made on the fourteenth day of March, one thousand nine hundred and thirty-two, and published in the Gazette on the seventeenth day of March, one thousand nine hundred and thirty-two, at page 517, and affecting Awaawakino A and other blocks.

Appointing Four Members of the Soil Conservation and Rivers Control Council.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in me by section three of the Soil Conservation and Rivers Control Act, 1941, and of all other powers and authorities in anywise enabling me in this behalf, I, Cyril Louis Norton Newall, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby appoint—

THOMAS GEORGE GORDON BECK, Esquire, of Christchurch, Civil Engineer, as the officer of the Public Works Department; and

Messieurs

JOHANNES CALLESEN, of Karere, and

GEORGE ALEXANDER MONK, of Reikorangi, Farmers, as representing local authorities, River Boards, Land Drainage Boards, and Catchment Boards; and

ALFRED JAMES DAVEY, Esquire, of Lower Waitohi, Farmer, as representing agricultural and pastoral interests,

to be members of the Soil Conservation and Rivers Control Council.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 9th day of June, 1942.

to be a Conciliation Commissioner under and for the purposes of Part II of the said Act for a period of six months from the first day of June, one thousand nine hundred and forty-two.
