The Tires and Tubes Stock-returns Notice 1942.

PURSUANT to the powers vested in him by the Supply Control Emergency Regulations 1939 and the Munitions Emergency Regulations 1941, the Minister of Supply and Munitions doth hereby give notice and direct as follows :—

1. This Notice may be cited as the Tires and Tubes Stock-returns Notice 1942.

2. This Notice shall apply to all new tires and new tubes as herein defined suitable for use or capable of being used on the wheels of vehicles except (a) metal tires for horse-drawn vehicles, and (b) tires and tubes suitable only for use on pedal-bicycles or perambulators.

3. For the purposes of this Notice a new tire or new tube means a tire or tube that is unused or has been run one thousand miles or less.

4. Every person who on Tuesday, the 31st day of March, 1942, had in his possession or control or on order by him any one or more tires or tubes not affixed to a wheel of a vehicle as part of the normal equipment of the vehicle is hereby required to make a return in writing to the Secretary of Supply setting out separately in relation to each different specification of tire and separately in relation to each different specification of tube the following particulars, namely :—

(a) Quantity ;

(b) Size according to usual trade descriptions

(c) Type of tire :

(i) Car ;

(ii) Truck ;

(iii) Tractor ;

(iv) Motor-cycle.

5. The particulars hereinbefore specified shall be delivered to the Secretary of Supply at the Government Life Insurance Building at Wellington not later than the 27th day of April, 1942.

6. Every person having or believed to have in his possession any one or more new tires or tubes not affixed to a wheel of a vehicle as part of the normal equipment of the vehicle shall, whenever so required at any reasonable time by any officer of the Minister of Supply and Munitions, produce all such tires and tubes to the said officer or satisfy the officer that he is not in possession of any such tires or tubes as aforesaid.
